CW-X's Stabilyx running tights provide optimum, targeted support to your knees and body core. They're ideal for activities with lateral motion, such as skiing and snowboarding, and for athletes seeking a great form of knee support. The patented Support Web bands together the muscles and ligaments of the lower leg to stabilize the knee and reduce vibration for increased efficiency. The Support Web also harnesses the midsection, supporting the lower abdominals, hips, and back to channel power through the core. Variable compression facilitates circulation during and after activity, minimizing lactic acid buildup so that you can be active longer and recover faster. The tights are anatomically engineered for each gender, providing comfort, ease of movement, and a better fit. A reflective "flash" and logo provide extra visibility for nighttime activities. The flat-seam construction eliminates abrasions, increases comfort, and enhances fit. Other features include a key pocket and a double-reinforced waistband with a flat-draw cord. Fabrics The 80 percent Coolmax, 20 percent Lycra four-way stretch fabric pulls moisture away from the body to the outside of the tights and provides a UV protection rating of UPF 40+. About Support Web Technology The patented CW-X Support Web technology mimics taping techniques that trainers apply to injured muscles. When this technology is applied to muscles and joints, it creates an exoskeletal support system that improves biomechanics during motion. The Support Web provides targeted support to key areas, decreasing muscle oscillation and focusing power so your muscles work more efficiently. Variable compression along the web facilitates circulation, minimizing lactic acid build-up and muscle soreness, so you can be active longer and recover faster. About Lycra and Coolmax The genius at the heart of CW-X is an obedience to the structure of the body, made possible by two extraordinary fibers: Lycra and Coolmax. Coolmax moves moisture instantaneously from the body out to the fabric's outer surface, where it evaporates at twice the speed of cotton. So with CW-X Conditioning Wear, you remain cool at even the highest temperatures. When less energy goes toward cooling the body, more energy is left to help you excel. Lycra, on the other hand, possesses the unique ability to stretch yet retain its shape. About CW-X Gear Technology For 40 years, scientists at Wacoal Human Science Research Center in Kyoto, Japan, have studied kinesiology, the science of human movement. They have tested over 35,000 people and analyzed injuries relative to warm-up and cool-down periods. They have come to understand the mechanics of joints and muscles in minute detail. This exhaustive study of body movement has culminated in over 50 patents worldwide. Below are some further studies demonstrating the performance-enhancing qualities of CW-X Conditioning Wear. Human Science Research Center, Kyoto, Japan: Study of electrical pulse activity in muscles Muscles firing into motion were measured electromyographically for subjects wearing CW-X gear, subjects wearing competitor products, and subjects with bare legs. Electrical pulse activity decreased in unsupported and partly supported legs during exercise, indicative of fatigue. Legs supported by CW-X showed a negligible decrease in electrical pulse activity. Human Science Research Center, Kyoto, Japan: Study of stability, impact, and motion In this study, high-speed video analysis was used to compare stability, impact, and motion in CW-X products and regular compression gear. CW-X Support Web tights were 10 percent more stable and balanced and absorbed 12 percent more shock to the knee than regular compression tights. CW-X Support Web tops allowed 9 percent greater range of motion for the arm than regular compression tops. University of Montpelier, France: Study of VO2 oxygen uptake levels This study measured VO2 oxygen uptake levels over the course of 15 minutes of running in CW-X gear, regular compression tights, and running shorts. CW-X Support Web tights showed 26 percent less oxygen use than regular compression tights and 36 percent less oxygen use than traditional running shorts, indicating lower energy expenditure. About CW-X Japan's Wacoal Corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of intimate apparel, has spent half a century creating clothing born of a deep understanding of the body. Combining its scientific knowledge of the human anatomy with its experience in complex fabrications and apparel design, the company first entered the performance sports apparel market in Japan in 1991 with CW-X Performance Conditioning Wear. Recently the company launched the CW-X brand in the U.S. market through the newly formed Wacoal Sports Science Corporation. Wacoal Sports Science, headquartered in New York City, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wacoal International. The company's mission is to meet the sports performance needs of the active U.S. consumer through the CW-X brand, the world's first truly anatomically engineered high-performance sports apparel.

Excellent product - a must have pair, November 18, 2009
By Walter C. Harris (Cross Plains, TN USA)

I've used many different brand running tights in the past, and CW-X is the best in my experience. I've previously purchased the full length tights before, but after jogging for a while, they have a tendency to get a little too warm at times. I bought these for those times that it's not quite that cold, for the gym, and for under pants on the slopes.
These provide excellent knee support that I noticed that right away, I felt better bending my legs medially and laterally. The tights actually kept my knees supported, and I felt more energized when walking and jogging. This pair also works well in the core and lumbar regions. I felt more support there, and my back doesn't hurt after wearing these on a long jog.
Some people doubt the performance difference in gear such as this saying it "is in the head". Personally I believe it has helped as I can go for 90 minutes or more with these, and without or with just compression shorts I can maybe push 60 minutes before getting tired. I especially feel the difference toward the end of the run. I had no interest before in training for a marathon, but I may attempt a 5K or so in the near future.

Great support, decrease muscle fatigue, June 3, 2009
By M. Mohler (Northwest Arkansas)

First pair of these I've owned, but after using them, I'll be getting the full length version as well for colder weather runs. I've noticed a marked increase in knee support and a decrease in muscle fatigue using them. As a triathlete, it's very nice being able to decrease recovery time between training types. I've used them in weather ranging from 55 degrees to 75 degrees and felt comfortable in both (though the 75 degree run was getting a bit warm). They do make a short version which would still have muscle support losing only the knee support. I recommend.

fine product, November 28, 2010

I prefer Orca and Skins over CW-X when it comes to compression shorts. The options for a 3/4 compression apparel for men are limited. I tried it so far a couple of times and it feels great. Very little support for the calfs but quite expected from a 3/4 tight. Support for quads and the knees is ample and feels good. Well constructed. Good deal.

Helped newbie runner avoid aggravating groin injury, January 16, 2011
By tidwell100 (San Diego, CA United States)
|
|
I am a newbie runner, having taken it up a little less than a year ago. I've been training for a half marathon in February and have had a nagging soreness in my upper thigh, which I've been told is a groin strain. I had been running in typical shorts with no compression. Rather than "push through it," I decided to take a week and a half off of running during the holidays in order to let the injury heal. I had been researching the use of compression shorts and thought I'd give these a try to see if they'd reduce muscle fatigue and reduce the aggravation of my groin strain.
I've been using these for about a month now and believe they've really helped. While my groin strain hasn't gone away completely, I feel it especially after long runs, I do feel better support when I run. I went with these 3/4 tights, rather than full tights, primarily because I live in San Diego, it doesn't get all that cold here, and I get easily overheated.
The only downside I've discovered with these tights is that my calves, the only portion of my legs that are not compressed, sometimes begin to ache in the middle of my long runs (>10 miles). I might try the full tights that are ventilated in order to avoid this problem.
Overall, I'm happy with these and would recommend them.
P.S. My worry about the appearance a 40-something dude, with somewhat of a 40-something belly, running in 3/4 tights quickly went out the window when I discovered these make my runs more enjoyable. Now I don't particularly care what people think!

Great Fit and Support, June 10, 2011
By RWM
|
|
This is the first pair of running tights I have purchased. I am a 50 yr. old man who has been running for sometime and was originally looking at knee support products (braces, wraps, etc.). But when I read about these it looked like a perfect fit; with excellent knee support and compression without having to put one more thing on prior to a run. I have and continue to wear UA compression shorts which I have found reduce hamstring tightness, but don't need them with this pair of CW-X Running Tights. I can highly recommend the knee support these provide; it's unobtrusive and adds no bulk. The compression is also excellent; breathable, flexible but providing the support I was looking for. The overall quality seems to be very high (the materials are top notch and they obviously take pride in their tailoring). I feel as if I am running with less effort and more efficiently when I wear these CW-X running tights; which means less chance for wear and tear type injuries and more years of running yet ahead!

I got great support and added stability from Stabilyx, May 14, 2011
By yowie

CW-X Stabilyx tights are a very well made tight and the materials are of high quality , I got the capri 3/4 tights. The fit was very good and trhe sizing information was very accurate for me. These arrived about 9 days ago and I have been hanging out to go for a run but I have been sick with a horrible sore throat that turned into a chest infection , so had to wait to today before I felt well enough to have a bit of a run. That said I am still feeling a bit weak. So I thought I may really not be able to get a good handle on whether these tights were of any benefit with my legs being little wobbly. Anyway soon as I ran out the drive I could feel what I can only describe as a good wheel alignment. My legs seemed to be moving more eficiently and I felt to some degree (this sounds strange but the best way I feel I can describe it) like I was being pulled forward, bit like a tail wind but the other way around. I am 43 and my knees have been getting a bit sore from running I also have an ITB that can give me some grief which is the reason I stared researching what products might be out there that may provide some assistance / support to my running. Anyway like I have read from many other reviews, while not feeling that great due to still getting over some illness, I just ran and ran and felt like I could keep going despite being well past the normal point when I would well and truely had enough. Its about an hour now since I went for my run and I don't feel as though I have been for a run at all , so that is pretty amazing for me.I paid about $60.00 AUD for these and and I actually got a second pair at the same time as they seemed very good value compared to the other American brand, whose name escapes me, that offers/states similar knee and core support .
To sum up I had a good feeling from reading other reviews and manafacturers information that these tights would provide me with the added stability in my knees and core and better recovery. My initial assessment is they have gone well and beyond anything I could have imagined. For a 43 male who has been very active in many sports including contact sports and has all the twinges and pain you could expect as a result , along with having major spinal surgery about 10 years ago, if my initial experience with these tights continues, I am quite confident that these tights will be a defining reason for me being able to improve my running times as a result of better leg conditioning and allow me to continue to be a more competitive triathlete and I may well even race in these. This is the longest review I've ever written so that should give you an idea as to how impressed I am with CW-X.

Husband loves these running tights-amazon purchase, April 27, 2011
By seewfine

|
Purchased for my husband since he was having trouble with his hamstrings while running. He was amazed by the difference in the feel of his legs while wearing these tights. I would recommend them for runners. The size fit small for these, so for him we had to purchase a little bigger than he normally wears. Since wearing them in races, he finds less problems with his legs. He has a longer pair also which he especially likes. Great for anyone that has legs muscle problems during runs.

Difference Noted, April 18, 2011
By D. Chiu

I had been suffering from a football injury to some of the tendons around my right knee for about 2 years. It made running over 2 miles to be quite painful. I would even be forced into a limp. I did some research and decided to try these CW-X 3/4 Stabilyx tights. The only reason I didn't purchase the full length is because I live in Houston, and it gets hot here! I immediately noticed a difference in my duration of running before that pain struck. I was able to keep that tightness and pain at bay and reach a distance of 11 miles before that pain hit (over a month of a training). They take some getting used to, but I now can't run without them. They're comfortable up to about 75F in my opinion.

baggy knees, January 10, 2011
By smith123
|
|
ok, the knees aren't actually baggy, but it doesn't feel like these offer a lot of compressive support to the knees. They work well in terms overall compression/support and provide the warmth I wanted to below knees for skiing and running. But I have the short version and they seem to both give more compression and stay up better. to me these are more compression with knee warmth than serious knee compression/support. But I'll be using them a lot

Good, but a little too tight, January 9, 2011
By S. Chiu
|
|
About Me: I'm 5'7, 145 lbs, fit, triathlete
This is the second pair of CW-X I own.
Size bought: Small
Fit: I felt the CW-X was too tight. I don't have much of a tummy, if at all, but I felt it kept "digging" in at times. It wasn't too "uncomfortable", but I would say that a bit looser would have been preferred. Having said that, I haven't tried a size larger than what I have.
Quality: The knitting and seams are reasonably well stitched. I'd say it would last for years
Comments: Overall these are pretty good tights. They are performance training tights and I'd recommend anyone who likes training to have at least one pair in their wardrobe. However, I didn't really find it decreased muscle fatigue as it was advertised.
