OK Bike, March 5, 2009
By CC

I wanted a cruiser type bike for riding comfort and for exercise. I liked this bike for its looks, it matches my wife's bike and it looks a lot like the first bike I had many years ago and I wanted a bike without gears or hand brakes. This bike meets those requirements.
Like the other reviews stated, I was disappointed in the condition of the bike when it arrived. The front fender had a large dent, the luggage rack was bent, the paint had several chips and scratches. I found the front fender poorly designed and lacking the necessary hardware to attach it. It either scrubs on the tire or hits the frame when turning the wheel.
I like riding it but would not buy it again because of the issues with the front fender not fitting properly.

Excellent Cruiser, May 21, 2008
By Peter Riesett (Baltimore, MD USA)

This product is excellent, easy to set up on your own (with a few tools), and a lot of fun to ride. It took me a little time to get used to the cannister brakes again, and I'm so used to the 20 inch bikes that I've managed to bang my leg on the back tire a few times while getting on, but that's not the bike's fault. The only issue I've had is the bolt that holds the rear fender in place fell off, forcing me to find a replacement (which I had already, so it didn't cost me anything). I'm not entirely sure if it fell off while riding, or if it got loosed by my misbehaving eight year old first, so no knock on the back for the bike either.
This is truly a classic bike, and worth the price for those with a budget.

Great Bike, Poor Shipping, July 8, 2008
By Anya Keyes (Portland, Oregon United States)

I was very excited when I ordered this bike. I had searched all over town for a red cruiser style bike, so when I found this one on Amazon for a fantastic price, I had to have it. The Bike arrived four days AFTER the estimated shipping date, which upset me but that is not the seller's fault. When I started assembling the bike, several pieces of it were damaged.
The front fender (which needed to be put on) was bent and I had to use a vice and pliers to get it straight. The front fender also had a huge dent in it that took a couple of hours to smooth out. The rear fender (which was already attached when I removed it from the box was put on crooked and had minor dents in it. The entire body of the bike also had several chips in the paint. Luckily, I had some red paint that matched it so I took care of it easily. Also, the rear wheels tube was put on incorrectly.
There was also a very weird yellow substance all over the handlebars. I can only deduce that it was some kind of Teflon base oil that keeps the metal from rusting (just like they put on police issue handcuffs).
After fixing it up, the bike was fine. A little minor adjustment to it and it was smooth riding. The bike in of itself is GREAT, but I was very disappointed in the condition it arrived in. AND the fact that I paid for two day shipping and it took 7 days to get to my house. The only thing I would recommend to the seller is that the bikes need to be packaged better in their boxes to avoid this from happening to others. I lucked out being handy with tools, but others may not be so lucky.

Arrived in bad shape, May 26, 2010
By N. Chamot

I have ordered from Amazon before and have never had a problem, until now. And of course it has to be the biggest, most expensive and hardest thing to ship back that I had a problem with. The bike is awesome, but it arrived with a bent rim, scratches in the paint and paint that was peeling off! It was a gift so this was embarrassing. We decided to deal with it though because I don't want to deal with sending it back. It was a big bummer!

A truly nice bike, March 21, 2011
By D. Sharp (Fort Myers, FL United States)

I am very pleased with this bike. It arrived double boxed. which I'm sure prevented any shipping damage, and all the parts were there. I had to wait a day to assemble it as its made in China (Shwinn, not American. Who knew?)and the handle bar needed metric Allen wrenches, which i didn't have. So, after a trip to Lowes I assembled the bike and took it out for a spin and I couldn't be more pleased. No adjustments needed to be made (gotta be just dumb luck for that!) and it looks great. I am 6'4 and 240 lbs so I was looking for a bike that could handle my size and this one meets that requirement.

Solid bike - no problems, April 9, 2011
By Thomas A. Weeks

I wanted a bike that wasn't too complicated, so not much could go wrong with it. I put this bike together in about 30 minutes, including pumping up the tires and putting grease on the chain. This bike doesn't have multiple gears, a derailer or handbreaks that need adjustment. The good part of no gear shifter is that it is almost impossible for the chain to fall off the sprockets. Also this bike has a chain guard, so I don't have to worry about putting rubber bands around my pants so that my pants don't get eaten by the chain. The bike has only one gear and it seems just right for me, not too low or too high. I'm tempted to want a higher gear, but sure that would change were I going uphill. The fenders seems to work well. There was one small dent in the front fender, but it is minor. It must have happened in the factory, because the box arrived in pristine condition and the bike didn't have a single scratch. In fact is sort of looks like the fender was dented before it was painted.
The rear rack isn't ideal for mounting baskets, so I used cable ties to get a good mount. I put a basket on the front and mounted two on the rear rack. You can use bungee cords to tie down a milk crate on the rear rack - if you are so inclined. I guess a bad thing about the bike is that it seems heavy, but I would take that as a good sign, considering the price.

Schwinn Windwood, July 8, 2011

I bought the Schwinn Windwood last year. Since then I have ridden hundreds of miles on the bike. No problems at all except a flat tire. If you are into a simple old style bike this is the one to get. 100% satisfied.

I like it!, October 26, 2011
By B. Ormonde

Assembling it was no big deal. Fairly easy once you have the appropriate tools. I liked it actually, that way I learned to adjust it to my body size. The bike is a single speed but it isn't fixed, because I can stop pedaling and cruise for a bit when I need to. If you are used to handle brakes, this will take some getting used to, as the bike brakes when you reverse the pedals. All I know is that I really like this cruiser style and the red, black and white colors are awesome. I've been riding for the last few days with no issues. I buy a lot of stuff off Amazon since they always have great deals and free shipping usually, though in this particular case I purchased this from another website quite a bit cheaper. It always pays to shop around.

Schwinn Windwood Men's Cruiser Bike 26 inch, October 25, 2011
By J. Sarver (South Carolina)

Purchased this bike form Amazon. I unpackaged this item which was double boxed and packaged in a quality manor (considering a bike). Arrived with no scratches, but did have a bent support arm for the rear carrier. This was not a problem to straighten by hand. the bike assembled quickly, about 30 minutes total till complete. I noticed the tires were not completely filled with air, so I took the bike to my garage, and pumped up the rear tire to specifications, and did the same to the front tire..just waiting to get on and ride....WELL>>>>>the front tire tube sprung a leak!!!! I have not investigated this completely, but I am assuming, from a sharp edge around the valve stem. Quality wise, the bike looks well built, and I am very impressed with the seat. I am 6 foot 215 lb, and I know this bike will be perfect for my size. Off to the store for a patch kit..or a tube in the am. Would recommend this bike!!

Schwinn Windwood Men's Bike, September 27, 2011
By T. D. Kelley (Easley, SC)

Received this bike in good condition. It was double boxed. It is ideal for anyone who wants a simple bike for cruising with no hand brakes or derailer to contend with. I only use it for local neighborhood riding and don't need all the fancy extras. It was easy to assemble but you do need metric tools (adjustable wrench or 9mm,10mm, 14mm and 15mm open and box end wrenches), and access is tight. The bicycle is very attractive.

Poor construction, August 27, 2011
By Nichole Keel (Arkansas)

I bought this bike for my son in May, and just a few weeks later the wheel came apart in a way I have never seen before! The back wheel just basically fell apart from center to circumference. I know my son is a boy, but this was just ridiculous! His previous bike lasted for years. Unfortunately I bought it from Academy sports and I lost my receipt. So I could not get my money back, nor would they exchange it for the price I paid. Be sure you buy from Amazon or keep your receipt!!!!

Really nice, September 14, 2011
By Ncls

Very nice bike, exactly what I was expecting. However, I thought for some reason that there would be brakes on the handles which there aren't. It might be that I saw brake handles on it on a different site but who knows. Regardless, it looks great! My only problem was that it didn't come with instructions. Lucky for me, I found instructions for a different beach cruiser on youtube that were fairly easy.
