Product Description:
What we left out of Earthpaste is just as important as what we put in. Earthpaste’s ingredients are all natural and from the Earth. No glycerin, no fluoride, no foaming agents, no artificial coloring. Earthpaste is simple: water, Redmond Clay, Real Salt, xylitol, and essential oils.

Redmond Clay — Food Grade Redmond Clay is a polishing cleanser that has been used for centuries to promote digestive health. Redmond Clay’s high pH helps counteract acidic levels in the mouth where cavities are formed.

Purified water — Purified water naturally hydrates the clay into a creamy paste.

Natural xylitol — We use xylitol from non-gmo birch and corn to help give Earthpaste its yummy flavor and to promote healthy teeth. Xylitol helps maintain a neutral pH level in the mouth and can also help prevent bacteria from sticking to teeth. Less acid and less bacteria equals a healthy mouth! Do you prefer a toothpaste with no xylitol? Try Earthpaste’s unsweetened Spearmint!

Wintergreen — This oil lends a sweet, minty flavor and has been used to promote dental health.

Tea Tree Oil — This essential oil is in all of our flavors except lemon twist. It is a strong microbial, helping your teeth and gums feel fresh and clean and supports oral health with excellent anti-viral and anti-fungal properties.

Menthol — Found in peppermint and wintergreen Earthpaste, menthol leaves your breath fresh and mouth feeling clean.

Lemon, Lemon Verbena, Tangerine, and Lime — These citrus essential oils are what give our Lemon Twist Earthpaste such a pleasing flavor. You may wonder if the acidic nature of citrus fruits is a problem for your teeth, but you can relax since citrus essential oils are pH neutral, making them a fine choice for your dental care.

Peppermint — Peppermint oil will make your breath smell fresh, and it’s widely used to promote stress relief and support digestion.

Spearmint — Spearmint essential oils are known for their antimicrobial properties which makes it a great ingredient in Earthpaste.

Cinnamon — Cinnamon brings a familiar, spicy flavor along with its reputation as an antioxidant used to promote healthy immune function.

5.0 out of 5 stars  Mud in your moth?! What?!
By Antonio Carabajal on December 05, 2015
I didn't believe my mother when she recommended this product, in fact I thought I she was nuts brushing her teeth with a clay/salt product. Having really sensitive gums and teeth along being a smoker, I finally decided to take a leap of faith and bought this hoping it would help. The I've Been using this now with a charcole infused bamboo toothbrush for 4 days now and my teeth and gums feel great! I haven't noticed the usual pain and sensitive I was having before while I using synsodyne. Ok mom you were right. Don't freak out too much on the trace lead reports, considering trace lead is found many organic veggie, besides we're all slowly killing ourselves with all the FDA approved food and drug products we rely so heavily on.

I am not switching back to chemical tooth paste. This leaves my mouth fresh and feeling clean without it being gritty or pasty! Have been recommending this tooth paste!

5.0 out of 5 stars  I like brushing with mud!
By B. Coomes on December 03, 2015
I'm glad I ordered this toothpaste. Unlike other clay toothpastes I've used in the past, this one is very smooth, not gritty at all! It leaves my teeth feeling super smooth and clean. I also love that it's not chock full of yucky ingredients, so I don't have to worry if my kids swallow a bit of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars  Great flavors!
By Shawn C. on December 03, 2015
I love that this toothpaste does not have mint flavoring added to the lemon and cinnamon flavors. The lemon is surprisingly yummy. This will be my only brand from here on out.

5.0 out of 5 stars  Used it on our family of 5 for a year, switched to a cheaper product, but we're switching back
By whatwordscannotexpress(dot)weebly(dot)com on November 30, 2015
We decided to use flouride-free toothpaste for our family of 5 for a year to see what difference it would make. Our dental health was probably average before we began. Here's the breakdown: husband brushes 2x daily but doesn't go to dental cleanings regularly, wife and kids ages 3-8 brush at bedtime and goes to dental cleanings regularly. No one flosses unless needed. Husband and wife had mild sensitivities to cold in teeth at the start of this 'experiment', kids had varying amounts of (or lack of) cavities. The older 2 kids had been on fluoride toothpaste, but the youngest hadn't yet. We did not take steps to remove fluoride from the city tap water we use for drinking and cooking.

Initial response: "Ewwww, this toothpaste is brown," chime the kids. We quickly discover that only the lemon flavored earthpaste is mild enough for the younger two kids to use. After protesting the appearance, we all had to get used to the lack of foam. I expected this in advance and was glad we weren't putting foaming agents (unnecessary chemicals) into our mouths, but it still took a week or so to get used to. I like all the flavors in this order: cinnamon, lemon, wintergreen, peppermint. I am familiar with essential oils, do not promote ingesting them, and tell my kids to spit out this toothpaste when they are done brushing so I don't freak out about the wintergreen essential oil. You should be training your kids to spit out the toothpaste anyway because it is dislodging food particles and built up bacteria that they shouldn't be digesting, even though the toothpaste is deemed 'edible' by the manufacturer. This also teaches your kids to be in the habit to spit toothpaste so if they ever end up using fluoride (they forget their toothpaste when they go to Grandma's and she gives them a tube of hers, etc), they will automatically spit it out.

Long term results: Within a month, we realized our teeth felt "good." Not necessarily "better," but we were a bit concerned they'd go downhill without the flouride coating they were so used to. Then my husband had a nasty cavity come through, must've been brewing for a long time. Part of his tooth broke off and he continued oil pulling with coconut oil (swishing coconut oil in your mouth 20 minutes daily and then spitting it into the garbage) to cope until it could be repaired. We heard about X-Factor Gold High-Vitamin Butter Oil by Green Pasture from a friend who said taking it in conjunction with oil pulling helped heal and fill in cavities naturally. Broken tooth didn't bother him and actually filled in over 50% of the hole with new bone. I tried getting pictures of this to blog because we just could not believe it was actually working- we are skeptics of natural health claims as much as we are of flouride. However, it wasn't a front tooth and so between lighting and trying to hold my husband's cheek back while taking photos it didn't work out too well. Research. Evidence. Here was our evidence that our body can repair itself when not being hindered, but rather supplied. He fell off the wagon oil-pulling and his tooth would hurt a bit but the regrown bone stayed in place (we could see it was regrown because it was lighter in color than the existing tooth). Appointment to fix tooth came around and it was repaired without issue. Dentist discouraged our use of non-flouride toothpaste as well as our declining fluouride treatments for our family at the dental office, but at this point we were convinced to give it a whole year's go of it.

After about 2 months of using Earthpaste, we'd fallen off the wagon of oil pulling because it was just cumbersome to remember and fit in our routine. We both noticed that our teeth were not as sensitive to cold as they had been. All temperature sensitivity was gone within 3 months of using this toothpaste. (From my understanding and research, you won't have the same remineralization effects if you are using fluoride mouthwash, you need to keep your mouth a flouride-free zone as much as possible.)

At the end of our year's experiment, we had no intentions of turning back, the area in my mouth the dentist had been watching for a cavity to form never developed into anything. One kid had a clean check up with no cavities and another kid with very tight teeth had a check up with 4 cavities. We decided to switch to a different fluoride-free toothpaste since it would be cheaper and we noted that Earthpaste changed its formula to include xylitol, which we had desired to avoid. Since we'd be getting xylitol in Earthpaste, why not switch to a cheaper xylitol toothpaste? We did, and after 1 month of using Xyli-white (we were actually grossed out by the foaming and had to re-adjust to the sensation, but we got over that), we discovered that both of us were experiencing mild sensitivity to cold and a general feeling that our teeth just weren't as good feeling. Little aches or a feeling of them just not being 'clean enough.'

So, we're back to ordering Earthpaste. (Also, we're still using soft-bristle toothbrushes, still not flossing regularly, and still brushing the same number of times per day as we did when this started. Just had to add that info for the other researchers/skeptics out there. Another note- don't expect great results if you drink large amounts of sugar (in coffee, soda, etc) daily, either! But you can research all that yourself.)

3.0 out of 5 stars  Doesn't "foam" up like other toothpaste
By LY on November 27, 2015
Definitely takes some getting used to this product. Doesn't "foam" up like other toothpaste. I just hope it does remineralize like they claim. Flavor overall is pretty good and like the fact that this is supposed to be more healthy.
