This book is structured to cover the essential aspects of periodontics especially suited to the under-graduate students. Of particular importance are the line diagrams which are made akin to the one made on blackboard in the classroom to facilitate easier understanding of the subject and the reader can associate himself better with the subject. Written in a user-friendly style it thoroughly explains the biology of the periodontium in health and disease; gives detailed instructions on patient examination and discusses various local and systemic risk factors in a self guided format. Author Information A.N. Radhakrishnan, M.D.S. (1947- 2005), an alumnus of Government Dental College, Bangalore, obtained his M.D.S. in the speciality of Oral Medicine, Diagnosis and Radiology. He had a long and illustrious career, working in various capacities from being a lecturer at Goa Dental College to serving as Principal at P.M.N.M. College of Dental Sciences, Bagalkot; A.M.E. Dental College, Raichur, Karnataka; S.B.M.N. Dental College, Asthal Bohr, Haryana and at Deshbhagat Dental College and Hospital, Muktsar, Punjab. A best outgoing student in the year 1968 and recipient of the best teacher award at Bapuji Dental College, Davangere in 1985 and 86, he had a flair for writing even as a young boy. Though his life-span was unfortunately short, he had a rare dedication, a passion for teaching and love for the students who came in contact with him. Dr. Raghu A.R., M.D.S. He is postgraduate from Manipal College of Dental Sciences; has been associated with this premier institution for about 10 years. An oral pathologist by specialization he is a popular teacher and an avid researcher in the field of molecular biology. He has to his credit scientific papers published in international and national journals of repute. Like the chip of the old block, he has a keen interest in teaching and takes an exceptional interest in making the subject of dentistry easy among students.
