5.0 out of 5 stars.  Karius and Baktus, October 06, 2013
By Anja B. Torres (Santa Clara, CA USA)
I rate this book 5 stars for the contents of the book.
The book arrived without problems.
However, I am very disappointed over the price. It was listed on Amazon for over $100 as new and I paid Apr. $38 for it used.
The price on the sticker on the back of the book was $9.90 which makes sense when I compare it to the price in Norway where I am from.
Why such a mark up Amazon? I bought it at the listed price just because I promised it to my grandchild for his birthday. Otherwise I
would not have bought it. It is NOT worth over $100 .
Now I am not eager to use Amazon again since I will not know if I will be overcharged.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I am so happy to have a copy of this book, August 21, 2013
By Darani (Danger, USA)
My mother, read this book to me when I was little.....probably to get me to brush my teeth. I always thought of those two little guys in there trying to drill holes and make cavities. The book was lost with moves etc. I am so happy to get a copy for my grandchild.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A true classic (in Norway!), August 16, 2013
By Sue (Fayetteville, NC)
If you go to Norway I will challenge you to find a single Norwegian child that has not read this book at one point during their childhood! A true classic; it is a staple in all homes (w/children).

Being Norwegian myself, and a dental hygienist by trade, I always refer to Karius & Baktus when talking about dental hygiene with my children (and their friends!)

What is the concept you may ask?
Jens, a little boy who does NOT like to ever brush his teeth...while at the same time only eats sweets and sugary foods, has 2 little guys (Karius & Baktus) unknowingly to him; living in his teeth. There K&B builds little houses (cavities), and get more and more greedy for new and "bigger" houses and keeps on hammering away to make more houses (cavities) to live in.
Eventually Jens' teeth starts hurting and he ends up at the dentist who in turn has to "drill" out all the "houses" and fill them up (as in put fillings in).
K&B no longer has any houses to live in, or to hide and so when Jens is done at the dentist and sits up to spit....WELL; you get it?

It is a very easy way to explain to children what happens if they neglect brushing and flossing...very effective too because it is written in a very imaginative way so you almost "see" what is happening while reading.

Run and buy....you will not regret it!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  karus and bactus, May 18, 2009
By PJ (seattle, wa)
I was very unhappy with the non existant communication with " International Books". I attempted several times to contact International Books via Amazons "communication with Seller" site. I had questions about the book I needed answered. I also attempted to contact Amazon via any avenue available on Amazon's sites to no avail. I feel I was absolutely ripped off.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Dental Hygienist Raves!, December 20, 1999
By A customer
This book is excellent in making the direct link between eating habits and oral hygiene habits in the formation of cavities for young children. I highly recommend it.
