Hey, if Bart Simpson can say 'crap' & 'hell' on primetime TV, i can say it here.
ANY ultrasonic cleaner will impress you when you see the results based on the nature of the cleaning method alone even if it's a crummy unit..which this is.
If you've ever used one before & you buy this POC, you will return it.
I admit I searched for the cheapest one on Amazon & as they say...You (truly do) get what you pay for.
OK, specifics.
Right off the bat I had in my hands a lightweight seemingly flimsy unit & sure enough I had to trash it when I knocked it by accident with a long pc of wood & it fell about 15-18". It fell from one counter to another lower counter with objects breaking it's fall & still the interior cracked open. Basically it fell on it's side & dropped a foot or so.
If you've ever used a REAL machine, one of those old heavy square units with a metal basin you'll be sorry you ordered this before you even use it. That's what I started on & let me tell you, it was 30-40 years old & kicked the you know what out of this pile of dung. In fact my old one dropped 36" to my concrete floor & still worked!
They're harder to find & more expensive but well worth it.
I suppose most housewives who use it occasionally will be happy with it but again, compare & you'll be blown away.
If you never had a cookie or used a camera, the 1st time you did would be a memorable event & no doubt you'd be very impressed. That's what happens with ultrasonic cleaners.
My old one was incredible & it truly performed much much better than this unit. And faster. So it's not just about cheap plastic. The sound of this one compared to my other'n was like listening to a Corolla door close versus a Caddy door. It clearly didn't have the cleaning power of it's predecessor.
I tossed it & found one similar but even better than my old one at an estate sale & i'm back in the groove again.
I've considered the fact that we live in a cheap plastic world now but even so this cleaner just doesn't cut it. You do get what you pay for so if you don't use it much & you've never experienced a real one, this will probably fit your needs.
One more thing, the basin of this thing is really small & can only clean some items. It's not very big around & it's very shallow.
To be fair I have to give it credit for having 2 side by each areas which is great for cleaning eyeglasses. Ever seen that nose jam that accumulates around the nose bridge? Gack! Place those eyes in this cleaner & you'll be trippin' on the seemingly new spectacles! Ultrasonics clean glasses like nothing else. Not even a brush.
My 'new' one is a Koh-I-Noor which you can't even find mention of on the net it's so old. It's got a huge basin & it rocks! It was intended for cleaning Koh-I-Noor fountain pens but it's an ultrasonic & that's all that matters. It does indeed kick some A when cleaning fountain pens. it's incredibly fast & thorough & nothing but nothing can even come close to this method of cleaning.
When you drop a dirty item in an US cleaner you will actually see dirt & grime floating OFF the article almost immediately after starting. NO exaggeration whatsoever so if you've never used one, get one & clean your stuff. Just be careful as they can remove things like paint that you want to keep. I cleaned painted glass buttons before reading up on it & you can guess what happened.
If you buy this one, you'll still be impressed. Just be careful with it.

This jewelry cleaner is AWESOME!! I cleaned my watch (a gift from last Christmas) and it looks like NEW!! My wedding ring set cleaned up so well that I will NOT have to take it to the jeweler's to have it cleaned any more!! I am very pleased!
