5.0 out of 5 stars  An essential piece of dental equipment

These are replacement tips for the GUM Brand gum stimulators you may have bought at the drugstore for $4 or so - note that you get a dozen of these for just a little more. You stick the stimulator between each tooth and then vibrate it against your gums, so the pointier it is the farther in it goes and the better job it does. This hardens your gums and reduces the risk of gum problems. Been using them since I had periodontal surgery 25 years ago (a real horrorshow which you want to avoid - during it your gums are cut so they can clean under them - reminds me of those rubber strips closing off doors in warehouses).

Assistant told me to stimulate between in front and in back of each tooth with 10 vibrations and no need to floss. Well she was wrong on the latter advice (which I did not follow) but right on the former, although I seldom, if ever, have managed the 10 vibrations, but I usually do half that.

The tips need to be changed when they start feeling a little blunt, and thus this product. I change mine every 4 weeks or so, and I probably should do so more often. They're a little hard to change, and here's my method. I remove the tip by grasping it with a small flat hand tweezer. I found it hard to get the new one on so use this method: I put a bit of water on the new tip and then grasp it with a bit of bath towel, which permits me to get the traction to push it on securely.

Cheapest and best dental appliance around. Shopping for them in your local chain drugstore is eye-opening. They're more than happy to sell you a $4 GUM stimulator, but almost never stock the replacement tips - hey, they'll sell more stimulators that way and their customers' dental health is notGUM Stimulator Refills -3ct (Pack of 12) their problem. Says something about how they regard their customers, and I react accordingly by avoiding them as much as possible.
