It is a good reminder that we meet at our routine job. Some hints and some you are missed can find it here.

4 out of 5 stars.  Good Guide For GPs Going Beyond Minor Surgery, April 16, 2009
I bought the 4th edition of this book.

How useful this book is to you depends on what you're looking for. Part 1 of the book is mostly theory. You've got preoperative assessment, principles of surgery, infection control etc. Part 2 deals with armamentarium, principles of exodontia etc. Useful info for dental students. However, you probably don't need more than 50% of it to pass your exams.

For those who are just out into private practice, chapters on complicated exodontia, management of impacted teeth, preprosthetic surgery and implant surgery may be useful. For me, I have already been doing these procedures for years. Most of the info in these chapters is not new to me, but there are still some useful tips, even for experienced practitioners.

Of course, this is not a book that focusses on implant surgery, so don't expect too much info in this area. As an active implant practitioner, I find the info a bit outdated. There are much simpler prostho components nowadays and I can't imagine using an external hex implant anymore. Having said that, there is good introductory info in this field. The newbie should be able to learn quite a bit.

The chapters on reconstruction of clefts, defects, injuries are probably useful to postgrad students. I'm not able to comment here.
