Product Description:

A top choice among students and instructors alike, Animal Diversity continues to earn the appreciation of both science majors and non-majors alike. The book uses the theme of evolution to develop a broad-scale view of animal diversity?students focus not only the organisms themselves, but also the processes that produce evolutionary diversity. The book is unique in its comprehensive survey of zoological diversity and its emphasis on evolutionary, systematic and ecological principles, all in one package.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  decent book, July 2, 2010
By Anna P
Book is okay. Material within individual chapters could be organized better. More anatomic photographs would be helpful. Book falls apart after use- pages come out. This should be sold as a hard cover text and not soft cover.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Animal Diversity, February 7, 2010
By kathlem (Ann Arbor, Mi)
This book is very informative and has a lot of detail. It is very helpful for classes involving animal taxonomy. Each chapter is organized very well. The pages are too shiny and on the verge of being too thin. The font is also slightly too wide and annoying to read.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Too in depth for an intro class, January 29, 2010
By Cheryl D. Ray
This book is extremely dry, uninteresting, and entirely too in depth for the introductory zoology classes it was created for. Avoid this book at all costs!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Necessity for Zoology, January 23, 2010
By M. Hoang (CA, USA)
I usually do not buy the recommended textbook for my classes but I'm glad I bought this book. It gives another point of view besides what my professor went over in class. The book is extremely well organized and each significant classification was given a ""General Characteristics"" box at the beginning of the chapter. This was a great tool to compare and contrast even small differences between each phylum or class. It went into details on things my professor skimmed through but expected students to know for exams.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly what was promised, March 29, 2010
By Live long and prosper (Riverside, CA)
When the book is labeled acceptable i expect there to be writing, highlighted information, etc. The book was much better. no writing and only one bent page. not bad at all.
