1.0 out of 5 stars.  Broke Fast, March 3, 2007
By Dr. Bubonic (Los Angeles, Deep Underground)
The lock seemed really good for the money, but after a month of light use, the casing pulled out while I was stretching the cord. This means that unless I really fiddle with it, the hole that the lock goes into DOES NOT LINE UP with the plastic casing.

So really, it's a cheap product. It should not break when uncoiling!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does the job well, July 8, 2006
By J. Ottinger, OH (United States)
As long as you don't forget your key this is a quick, easy, very solid product. Like any lock, it could be cut by any thief...but I am just trying to keep the honest people honest.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Not Secure at all!, February 23, 2008
By Jack Tan (Singapore)
My Schwinn got stolen with this cable lock right in front of where I work, and in broad day light. One snip with a cutter is probably all it took. Buy a U lock if you value your bike.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Very hard to use, July 6, 2007
By C. Buchholz (Canandaigua, NY USA)
The cable is so tightly wound that it is dangerous to try to use. Also you need 2 hands to be able to lock it with the key - very inconvenient & frustrating. We ended up just buying the chain that has a vinyl sleeve over it to use with a combination lock instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good for the money, November 13, 2006
By Alan Stock (Kailua, HI USA)
The lock works. Not the sharpest looking lock on the market, but does the job. It is a little tough putting the two ends of the locking mechanism together, but if your looking for an inexpensive lock that does the trick in low crime areas, this one will do.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  IT LOCKS BUT IS IT STURDY ENOUGH?, July 25, 2008
By JAY DOG (New York, NY United States)
I LIVE IN A CITY THAT HAS A HIGH BIKE-THEFT RATE. THE LOCK LOOKED STURDY IN PICTURES ON THE WEB AND THE PRICE WAS RIGHT, BUT I COULD CHEW THROUGH THIS SUCKER WITH MY TEETH. RETURNING IT COST AS MUCH AS THE LOCK. SO I USE IT IN CONJUNCTION WITH A MUCH STURDIER LOCK.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Bell Security Cable Bike lock, June 7, 2007
By D. H. Burger
I was very disappointed with the bike lock. It does not have the holder for the lock like my last one had and the cable is so strong that it is hard to manage.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Terrible Product, November 27, 2007
By Alyssa Hargraves (Worcester, MA USA)
I purchased this lock and made sure to lock the bike properly, securing it around the tires and the frame itself. But when I returned shortly after from the first time using it, the bike and lock were gone. Excellent waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  OMG, it LOCKS my bike in place!, March 28, 2008
By Chris (Huntsville, Al)
I bought a cheap bike in Iraq to get around better- I'm a mile from work and let's face it, walking every day kind of sucks... I needed something to secure the bike, so I bought this because it was able to ship to an APO. Some things don't (Would you believe bike pumps and wrenches are restricted items and only ship in the US through Amazon Prime??? Changing a bike tire is a real pain without them so I coughed up some extra money to use a different seller). Thanks for sticking it to me, Amazon!

Anyway, this device is great. It secures my bike to the bike rack, and curls up nicely around my bike frame. In short, it's inexpensive and does what it is supposed to.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Get a safer lock for your bike, November 11, 2009
By Khrista Dalino (Los Angeles, CA USA)
It was okay to use, but my bike got stolen so this is probably easy to cut off. If you have an expensive bike, don't risk getting this lock.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Light but a little flimsy, May 15, 2009
By Frank J. Perricone (People's Republic of Vermont)
The chain itself is pretty good and probably couldn't get cut very easily, but the lock part feels flimsy and makes you wonder how hard it is to pop it open. The key seems easy to lose, too, it's really tiny. This is good for light duty if you're organized, but not much more.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  okay.., May 12, 2009
By W. Warsinski (MI USA)
Well iv'e used this for a few months now ~6 months, and its worked find till recently...
The key is a bit hard to turn and sometimes gets stuck.. i'm afraid the key might break off or i won't be able to get my bike unlocked.
the one i got was black (when i ordered the picture showed a black one), so this might be a different -version-

-Update-

Well i found out a bit of WD40 fixed the lock and it worked like a charm for a few months, then it started again and i kept forgetting to spray it :( ended up breaking my key and had to use a hacksaw to break it... took less then 10 seconds of sawing to break it...

i wouldn't recommend this if you live in an area where bikes get stolen a lot, but this will keep most people away.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  It's ok, March 29, 2009
By habitual reader (USA)
The item works fine... until someone tries to pull it apart. It can be pulled apart and broken with bare hands (as I discovered when someone tried to steal my bike).

4.0 out of 5 stars.  What it is is what it should be, April 6, 2008
By White Swan (Washington DC)
I actually bought two of these locks to lock my new cherry rockers onto my porch. Sad to do this, but better safe than sorry. They are fine for this purpose and they would be fine also as bike locks. I like keys better than combinations, the cable is sturdy, the plastic covering thick (to avoid rust) and I can't think of anything to be improved.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A Winner all around!, January 2, 2008
By Nocutting (New York,NY)
6mm+ all steel cable, plastic coated, easy to use lock w/ key. Cable is 6ft long and can reach all of your bike. Plastic coated cable wont scratch your bike, Keyed lock, sooo no forgottened combinations, and it wraps up neatly on any support bar on your bike. Sure its not made of "Kripton or Titanium", and any thief with a 5ft cable cutter can cut it loose, but hes gonna look pretty funny carry'in that Bad Boy down the street or any where else in public these days!....and all this for another $6.49 cents. I didnt know "Peace of Mind" was soooo Cheap.
