Worth the price, May 20, 2006

I purchased this unit after the initial testing of several other tools.
Like the Bell Quick-Tool, this one is a winner, albeit not quite at the same level of the Quick-Tool. This unit has more closed end wrenches, but that's about the only real difference. It's a bit larger and more unwieldly than the QT. I've used it on the bench for a couple of weeks to good effect. As mentioned in my other reviews, a multi-tool is not a substitute for "dedicated" tools, but these are functional and will get the job done in the field (and at the bench.)
While I prefer the Quick-Tool (Bell) over this Ultra-Tool, I wouldn't (don't) hesitate to grab either one for bench or field.

Good small tool, May 22, 2007

I like this tool except for one thing. There is no chain tool included. Having broke a chain last week and no tool to fix it I wasn't too happy. Luckily there was a guy right behind me who had one. It was the exact same thing as this tool but with a chain tool also. Something to think about.

Okay for casual riding, January 9, 2009
By Gearhead (Central Ohio)
|
|
This kit is OK for casual riders. I put on around 100 miles a week bycycle commuting (not counding recreational riding), and for me the tire irons and tools didn't stand up. Having a tool break when you need to change a tire in the middle of your commute to work causes harsh words to be said.
Spend a few $ and ounces more to get quality tire irons, patch kit and good quality multi-tool and you'll be miles ahead.

Nearly perfect, December 10, 2007
By Conrad B. Senior (Easton, CT United States)

There are better tool kits, but if you want want that does nearly everything, and is light and easy to pack, then this is the one to get. I researched all the bike tool kits and found the only other tools I might want were a spoke wrench, and a chain link tool--things I've never needed on the road. What I wanted was the ability to patch a tire, change a tube, make adjustments, and tighten up loose fittings. This tool kit does a good job.
On the negative side, I wonder how long the plastic tire removing tools will last. I figure I can swap in something to replace them if and when they fail.

Cumbersome to use and mediocre tool quality, July 10, 2009
By Jeff A. Mikkelsen (Decorah, IA)
|
|
While having multiple tools in a compact case is a great concept; it is limited to whether it can be used effectively. When I needed to adjust my derailleur it was difficult to maneuver the tool so the allen screw could be loosened and retightened while pulling the cable that was being adjusted. The metal appears to be poor quality and the plastic tire tools are a breakage risk.

"OK", July 27, 2008
By Bike Man (USA)

This multi tool is Ok, and does have some handy tools on it like the one socket that fits the brake adjustments. The wrenches though are horrible. They are all just a hair to small to fit the actually size they say. I can not take off my wheel with this tool as the biggest one is to small to fit over the standard wheel nut. You can't put any pressure on the wrenches or the metal clip holding them back will not hold and they will just fold. I also found that some of the hex wrenches were either to big or to small to fit some things on my bike. Tire levers are plastic and this thing is kindof bulky. Overall, its a nice package of tools if only the wrenches worked and I could take my tire off.

Gotten a lot of use out of this!, April 11, 2011
By Phoenix (IL USA)

Used the allen wrenches many times after a rough trail. My only complaint is that I broke one of the tire pullers much too easily. So far the other one has held up though. Worth the money spent when you're out in the middle of nowhere and your handle bar comes loose!

not complete... even for bell products., September 29, 2009
By Jeffrey Smith

This BELL BRAND tool has all I need to adjust my bike on the road except for one thing.... it does not have the correct size wrench to adjust a BELL BRAND bike seat. It has a 13mm and a 15mm but not the 14mm that is on the seat. You would think they would at least have their own products covered!

Somewhat handy in the pocket or the bike bag, but the multitool is poorly built, August 13, 2009
By film lover, philosophy profe.. (Florida)

This is a handy set, and it's nice to have all the tools I use most often on my bike in one place. The tire patch kit is decent, and I've definitely had use for it. Unfortunately, some of the most important tools just aren't very useful.
The phillips screw head is pretty solid, but the flathead screwdriver narrows too much to be of much use for most screws. Additionally, the wrenches are supposed to lock in place but if you put any pressure on them they escape the lock and fold. That means if you have a tight nut, you really can't get it loose. I end up pulling out my ratchet kit every time for serious jobs. Still, this is handy to have on the road, and every once in a while comes in real handy.

This tool has everything you need to work on your bike. The allen wrenches do the job. Lowered my seat and changed my brake pads moments ago with this tool.

This tool is pretty good for the price, it's a little bulky, but if you don't care about size in your pack, or weight, this thing has everything you should need for a road emergency.

I always use this tool with my bike. It is easy to keep this tool with the bike because it is quite small. Patching tool is good too. I bought this tool without thinking of using patching tool, but when my tire blew up, I could depend on this tool.

I Bought It over 2 Years Ago... Don't Waste Your Money!, January 11, 2011
By J.Smith (USA)

I'm disappointed with this so called bike tool kit. There really isn't much you can do with what is included in the Swiss army style kit. Out of everything there, I can use maybe 3 things for what my needs have been. Otherwise, I have to bring it to someone who has the right tools... I've come to the conclusion that 'Bell' products are overrated ... IMO

This product is a great investment, I really don't know how to fix my bike although I need to learn, but my boyfriend works on it for me (I'm lucky to have him) and these tools are great for him to be able to work on my bike and they are always handy so he can get to them quickly.

A Must Have For All Bikers, March 5, 2012
By EarthAngel (Frederick, MD.)

This little kit has everything in it to repair just about anything on your bicycle. It's complete & money well spent. Don't get stuck hauling your bike back 20 miles to home. Get this handy, dandy, light weight all inclusive repair kit along with piece of mind. Did I say it was compact? Most folks have a bag on the front of thier bag anyway. I carry a rolled up rain coat in there too!

Dependable Ride Companion, May 14, 2012
By Golden Tamaraw (Thorndale, PA)
|
|
I have owned this same tool since 2006 and I can confidently state that this is one dependable tool. This is a well-used tool not only on my bikes but even some minor adjustments in the house or in the car. I like its size which allows me to grip it firmly and generate more torque. I even saved our group ride last riding season when a whole family with bikes bought from the local department store decided to join. In the middle of our ride, one of their bike's chain dropped in between the cassette and the rear hub. It's not quick release so everybody in the group got a sigh of relief when I whipped out this tool and showed the box wrench. I know a lot of more expensive multi-tools nowadays don't have box wrenches, but bikes that have the old washer-and-nut can still be found everywhere. You may not need it on your bike, but cyclists are supposed to look after each other and ensure everybody would have a good ride.
I have had favorable experience with its two tire levers. Used it dozens of times and aside from the permanent scuffs it got and the occasional bending because of stubborn tires, it has held up pretty well.
The few gripes I have on this tool are: 1) No built-in chain tool; 2) No serrated knife; 3) No Torx wrench(es); and 4) Bulky (takes up all the space in my saddle bag).
Recommended for anyone who doesn't mind its extra bulk and weight. A good value and should last for a long time.
