5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very sturdy, November 2, 2006
By Mark (North Carolina, USA)
Bought this for a recent trip of about 1000 miles round trip and it was just what we wanted. Well, I suppose it could be just a bit larger but such is life. The liner/casing is very sturdy - it displayed no wear from the trip. The zippers are beefy and they withstood a lot of yanking around. Also, when I tossed it on the Lund 20x60 hitch carrier (also bought on Amazon) I stuffed a big suitcase in it, tried unsuccessfully to shove it around to get it in place, then realized I was getting caught on the bolts that face inward on the Lund. I grimaced and figured it would have torn huge holes in the casing but it was barely punctured! The expandable top is great although I can't imagine ever not wanting it to be expanded. The integrated straps are smart although the buckles seemed a bit chinsy. They held just fine, but I might replace them with belts that have ratchets on them and strap it around the entire bag to the carrier. We'll see - after 1000 miles with 3 little ones we might hold off on that next trip for a bit...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Note that this is waterproof, not just water resistant., October 9, 2008
By ClayCope (Seattle, WA)
I recently purchased the ROLA 59102 for carrying camping supplies across the northwest. I have a jeep and needed something to haul firewood, tents, etc and this did the job. For remote car camp sites, this keeps your gear free of dust and water.

I decided on this one because of the reviews and the fact that this one is water proof. Other bags similarly priced are just water resistant. On a camping trip to remote site in the Olympics last week I carried enough fire wood for 3 nights, and some extra gear. We drove through rain, mud, and sitting out for 3 days and still no moisture on the inside.

For a carrier, I have the Lund 601010 which is also available from Amazon. Great combo, wish I would have had this a long time ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Amazingly waterproof, July 1, 2009
By Joan (Tucson, AZ)
We traveled 1500+ miles with this bag on the back of our Suburban. We encountered several strong rain storms, some with strong winds. We also drove over a mountain pass with snow and slush on the road during a snow storm. When we arrived, everything was COMPLETELY dry inside!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent product, October 30, 2008
By Gaines (Nashville,TN)
I have a sports car with no room for luggage, so a good solution was to add a receiver hitch and use a luggage rack. My main concern was securing the luggage and keeping it clean/dry. This bag worked like a charm. At first I wasn't crazy about the fact that it is, well, a bag. I wanted something more box like because I figured it would be a pain dealing with a floppy bag. Once you get a few items in it there's really no hassle and the fact that it can expand means you can always fit a bit more. A+

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bag!, August 2, 2010
By Ellen Francis (Seattle, WA USA)
We bought this bag to use with a newly installed hitch-mounted cargo carrier..the idea is to add to the cargo room in our Subaru for some weekend camping trips.
The bag's pictures and description did not really do it justice.. it is very thick material that we believe will stand up to lots and lots of use. We just came back from our first camping trip and it was great! Easy to load, easy to zip closed, easy to secure to the cargo carrier. The expandable feature is nice, but we needed all the extra space the bag provided.
This set-up, of a hitch cargo carrier and basket is SO much easier to use than the roof-top carrier we had.. who wants to take a step ladder along on a camping trip and load stuff on the roof of a car in the rain??
The bag fastens securely to the cargo rack, and the zip closure is protected by a flap that covers the zipper and then velcro-locks to the bag itself. Very thoughtfully designed.
The only thing that might make this bag better would be a storage pouch.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Cargo Bag, January 21, 2010
By Teach1148 (Illinois)
We bought this bag to be used on a hitch cargo tray. This bag carried four carry-on suitcases plus still had additional space left! We drove through rain and snow. Everything kept dry and secure. In very cold weather (5-20 degrees)the bag gets rather stiff making the zipper difficult to close, but still worked. I am glad I bought this bag!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  did not meet my expectations, March 19, 2009
By Eddie L. Loven (Albuquerque,NM)
Nope, the rola bag did not meet my expectations, it exceeded them!! I am pretty demanding on my equipment and this bag will be in use for years to come. I am mostly using it to keep dust and dirt out of my gear on the cargo rack installed on my wrangler. The dust here in New Mexico is very fine ,almost like flour, and this bag stays dust free! I have water tested it with a garden hose and it doesn't leak either. If you have used other cargo bags and were dissapointed in them give this one a try!
VERY heavy duty, VERY well made!!

And no, I don't work for Rola!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Versatile, Practical, and Sturdy Bag, June 11, 2010
By Katrina Thomas (Pagosa Springs, CO)
We needed more cargo space for a 3000 mile road trip with 2 adults and 4 small children. We didn't want to have to hassle with cargo on the roof of our large SUV (a 98 Ford Expedition) so we paired this bag up with a Valley 90590 Deluxe Hitch Mount Cargo Basket. The bag is 48" wide but still has greater capacity than the comparable 60" bag on Amazon (Lund 601006 Cargo Carrier Heavy Duty Storage Bag) due to a taller height and deeper depth. The adjustable height feature is also a nice bonus. Since the Valley 90590 is 60" wide we were able to add a plastic tote strapped in with bungees on the end - which worked fabulously to put items to be easily accessed. (see picture) It rained 12 out of the 14 days of our trip and the items inside stayed perfectly dry. The construction is very well made - the bag is very thick and sturdy and the straps more than adaquate. As another reviewer mentioned, the bag is a little stiff in colder weather, making it difficult to zip. I can also see the advantage of adding a homemade pvc pipe frame as other reviewers have done. The way the straps attach to the top of the bag are well reinforced, but it remains to be seen how well they will hold up under years of use. The bag did not show any signs of wear from this initial trip. We did not even use up the capacity of this bag and still fit in 2 suitcases, 1 duffel bag, a portable baby bed (similar to a pack-and-play), 2 large swim totes filled with swim gear, a folding booster seat with tray, our laundry in a large laundry bag, packs of diapers, and more! I see no reason why this bag could not also be used on a roof top carrier, but I have not yet tried it for this use. We will probably end up using it in our flatbed trailer and on camping trips as well. Fabulous product!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very pleased, December 28, 2007
By J. Overton (Tennessee, USA)
I was very impressed with the product and the quick delivery. We used the bag with a Lund carrier which did not have an opening to loop the straps through, so the instructions for the straps did not work. Otherwise, it was very nice - waterproof, good construction.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  100% plastic does NOT match picture, June 29, 2011
By Bobby Rogers (Austin, Texas)
So everyone reviewed this bag as great. I just took it out of the box and in no way does it resemble the picture. Mine is shiny BLACK inflatable raft looking material even though it has the Rola emblem. I have questions about the ruggedness of this item to tears etc. I thought I was paying a bit more and relying on previous reviews. It is too close to the trip we are taking to return it but if not I would. I posted a picture of it on the product page.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Cargo carrier cover, July 4, 2010
By Bob Aronson (Jacksonville, Florida)
It's OK. The material is good and sturdy but the zippers are sometimes tough to open and close and the straps are a nuisance, we used bungi cords instead. Also If you can't close the zippers all the way for any reason the bag collects water when it rains and is difficult to take out to empty because you have too remove everything that is in the bag and in our case it is a generator. When I need to replace this I will do so with a simple tarp, I wouldn't buy it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Make extra room inside the pickup Truck, June 12, 2009
By J. W. Smith (Tulsa, OK)
We sometimes take long weekend trips in our pickup truck when we need the 4 wheel drive or want to transport big items to our family around the county. For 2 travelers there is enough room inside the pickup for luggage etc but with 3 it is really really cramped. Now we put the luggage and large items in the Rola bag in the pickup box right behind the cab where it is almost invisible. The straps tie to the hold-down rings in the truck box securely.

The bag provides more than enough protection from the elements. Two roll-along carry-on style luggage bags take almost half the bag leaving plenty of room for other items. As a side benefit, no heavy items inside the cab means that other travel items are more easily accessible and the lunch doesn't get crushed. The bag is very well constructed and should last for many trips.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Well built and BIG bag, November 10, 2008
By Robert D. Ross, Jr.
This bag is very large; which is what I wanted. The only drawback is that it does not have any type of frame to keep its shape. I guess you could build a frame out of small diameter PVC pipe but probably not worth it. Overall it seems to be well built.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great cargo bag., July 15, 2011
By Jeff
I used this bag for a road trip on the day that I received it. It opens and mounts easily. I put two large ruffles, two medium suit cases, two boogie boards, and a few other small items in it. It seals up pretty well and kept everything dry/clean during our drive on the highway in rain.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Cargo Carrier Cargo Bag, April 9, 2011
By re4mation
I am generally positive about my new Rola 59102 Expandable Hitch Tray Cargo Bag. I recently used it in my Cargo Carrier on a trip to L.A. and back. Two totally different loads, and configurations. On the way down, the Cargo Bag was completely utilized in its fully expandable form. I traveled through rain, sleet, hail and snow. There were no leaks, and we arrived in L.A. with everything intact, secure, dry and undamaged.

On the return trip I used the Cargo Bag in its non-expandable configuration, and after fully securing the zipper system, I folded it into a space narrower than its 48" width (to around 38"). Upon arriving home I discovered that In this configuration, the Cargo Bag had leaked a bit and there was probably a 1/4 of a cup (or less) of water inside. To be fair, the rainstorm I drove through was as bad as any I have encountered in several years, and I do a lot of driving. On the highest setting, the windshield wipers could not keep the window clear of rain and give me a safe view of the roadway. So I want to be fair with regard to Rola's product. But, in all fairness, Rola did advertize it as waterproof. I am still glad that I purchased this product, and love the flexibility that it offers my Hitch Tray Cargo Carrier. 5.0 out of 5 stars.  A MUST-HAVE!!!, August 18, 2010
By R. Scott Runnion
This is a remarkable product! In my opinion it's a must-have for anyone who has a tray cargo carrier and wants/needs to protect what they're carrying. Its expandability is incredible. I just completed a round-trip from Florida to the mountains of NC, encountering near-torrential rains at times in both directions. All contents were bone-dry when I arrived at each end.

One caution, however: make sure that the strap loop around the cargo tray member is snugged up completely. On my first loading, I did not snug one sufficiently tightly, and the strap suffered considerable wear from vibration. On the return trip, I still had enough good material on that strap that I could snug it down completely, and there was absolutely no wear on it (or any of the other 5 straps) at the end!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Waterproof Cargo Bag, August 6, 2010
By jmet
We used the bag on a flat trailer hitch mounted carrier. Traveled over 3000 miles and through some pretty nasty rainstorms. The cargo bag performed very well. Not a drop of water made it through to our luggage. Quality material and the zipper was heavy duty. I would highly recommend this product to others!

Traveled 2400 miles with this bag over the Christmas holiday with lots of snow and weather. The bag held up excellent. There was no wear and all of our stuff stayed perfectly dry. We put two large suitcases in there lying on their sides next to each other and still had room for all of our Christmas presents for the nieces and nephews. It made for a very comfortable ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Wonderful Product!, October 16, 2011
By FCPrincess
We bought this cargo bag to travel from Florida to North Carolina because with children, we have run out of packing room in our SUV. This bag did a wonderful job! We packed strollers, play yards, portable high chairs and much more in this bag with no problem at all. On our 9 hour drive, it poured down rain for about 7 of those hours. I was getting a little nervous because it was the first time we ever used the bag, but it worked out perfectly! Everything inside was perfectly dry. Not even a drop of water anywhere on our stuff. The bag is easy to tie down with the 6 straps that come with it. I was a little worried about the straps because they don't seem that wonderful, but in fact they are. The bag never even moved an inch on rough terrain. The bag is made of very thick, heavy duty raft-type material. No leaks are getting through this bag! The bag is definitely weather proof and rugged.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent purchase, August 25, 2011
By L. Allen (NC USA)
I bought this bag for a long drive and trip to the beach. I have a rack on the back of my Jeep and this bag fit perfectly and even left me room for my grill. We did not have any rain going to the beach, but coming home it poured. When we got home everything in the bag was dry. There are only two things I would change about this bag. One, I wish it had handles to lift the bag, as it is you have to unpack it to get it off the Jeep. If it had handles I could at least lift it onto a cart or something. Second thing is the straps are a bit cheap, no big deal as I used my tie downs I have for my motorcycle and had no issues. Other than that this bag is great and I would recommend it for anyone who needs more cargo room on long road trips!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  This is DEFINITELY a waterproof cargo bag!!!!, August 19, 2011
By Ezeegoing
I purchased this cargo bag to assist us in moving our daughter from NYC. I planned to haul clothing and golf clubs in the bag. We had more than enough room in the bag for a large suitcase, an extra large bag of bedding and a full set of golf clubs, with room to spare! Within 45 minutes of leaving NYC, it started to rain. We were on I-80 for two days in scattered thunderstorms. Sometimes it rained so hard we couldn't see the road. When we finally arrived in Michigan, I was afraid to open the bag. But I was very pleased to see that everything was completely dry!!!

We found the bag to be very easy to move on and off the cargo rack. Each night we either carried it into the hotel room or placed it across one of the seats in the car for security reasons. The material is strong and handled the movements very well.

If you want a durable bag that is DEFINITELY water proof, this is the bag for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Looks super cheap. Is this authentic Rola?, August 18, 2011
By BOB (Cypress, TX)
I returned the bag without using it. The bag did not match the numerous photos of the Rola bag. The shiny vinyl material is identical to a blow up toy material. I am sure its waterproof but thats not what I was lead to believe what I purchased in the picture. I don;t know if its a cheap imitation or whether Rola actually change their design. To bad. Mine is shiny black plastic material like was shown by other review.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bag for cross country trips!, July 26, 2011
By Crim Law (Chicago, IL)
I took this bag from Chicago to Rapid City, SD, and then to Yellowstone. It held two large suitcases and two carry-on sized suitcases. Kept them dry and dust free the whole trip. I agree with some of the previous reviews about the straps being a little light but I planned on using some heavy tie down straps anyways - I give this bag five stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Bag, July 20, 2011
By baaday33 (Baltimore, MD, USA)
Overall a good bag. Used with hatch cargo carrier on my Pilot. Believe or not, it was waterproof. Drove 6 hours in heavy rain, the items stayed dry. The only con is that zippers hard to close because of rigid overlapping protective layer and square shape of the bag. Eventually the protective layer was ripped at the back corner. However, if one will be careful when closing zippers it could be prevented. Can not figure out how to fix it: tape and glue did not help. The straps are too long and plastic rings are weak. Used additional heavy duty straps to be safe. Very spacious when expanded, however, when expanded, the bag closes the view to the rear number plate, wondering if police will stop.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  You need a bag?? This is the one you are looking for, April 2, 2011
By Darenj1975
I am more than pleased with this bag. VERY well made, and was more than impressed when we opened the box, and then more impressed when we put it to use. We have a full size carrier, 25-60, and though this was smaller, it still fit well. We were able to get 2 adults and 2 children's suitcases, along with some loose items in it, and still had room.

This expands out, as described, very tough, velcro points to protect zipper, and the nylon straps that are used to hold it to the carrier are more than adequate.
Did I say, if your looking for a bag, stop here!!!
Cant comment more on perfection!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great, December 3, 2010
By T Baker
Enjoyed keeping things dry and clean when winter driving.
If I could improve anything, I would want a heavier thickness to avoid punctures and tears.
The bolts on the carrier made small holes taking the full bag in and out.
I can't complain about performance for the price. Glad to have it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  pleased with quality for the price., October 4, 2010
By Wormtown
I bought the Rola 59102 Expandable Hitch Tray Cargo Bag for a camping trip. I used the bag on a Lund 601001 Hitch-Mounted Folding Cargo Carrier and they worked together perfectly. The cargo bag is cavernous; I stuffed it with 4 folding chairs, 4 sleeping bags, 4 pillows, a queen size down comforter and a pair of boots. The straps that come with bag really helped to compress the cargo. My license plate was clearly visible once the cargo bag was secured to the cargo carrier. The horizontal, wrap-around zipper for expanding/contracting the height of the cargo bag was a nice feature. It did not rain during my trip but the bag seems durable and well made. It is nice to know that the cargo bag is rainproof when that day comes.

By CaryEERS fan (Cary North Carolina)
Took the Rola Bag on a trip from North Carolina to Jacksonville Florida, this bag is a great bargain and works great with the Valley 90590 Deluxe Hitch Mounted Basket Cargo Carrier. Together they create an incredible amount of luggage carrier capacity. Was able to fit one large luggage plus 5 kids bags along with multiple other smaller bags. Highly recommened especially for the price. Was considering the more expensive thule mounted carrier for a toyota sequoia. Glad we saved the money and went with this combination.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bag, December 28, 2009
By OceanGreyhound (Atlanta, GA)
Very sturdy bag. I was wary of bags that leak, but this one seems unlikely too. We did not encounter rain on our first trip with it, but it's a heavy vinyl-like fabric and has smart velcro flaps over the zippers. I actully used it as a roof bag b/c it's narrower than the square-type bags and I wanted to carry a kayak beside it. Worked great with lots of room to spare.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Well Made Cargo Carrier, September 12, 2009
By BRS50 (Pennsylvania, USA)
I bought this carrier for a hitch mount cargo rack on the rear of a fifth wheel RV in June '09. It's a very well constructed bag, it looks durable. Just keep it zipped tight with the cover secure over the zipper and it's waterproof. It kept all contents dry through some serious wind driven rain on the road and in a campground earlier this summer. This is a soft sided bag with no structure, I've put two large 24" long plastic crates inside. They're just right for the 48" length and the give the bag some body even if I've pulled items out. I haven't stuffed it enough to need the expanding feature but a it's easy to unzip and add 3 inches to the height of the bag. I'd give it a five except for the tie-down straps. The straps wrap over the lid which keeps it very secure but they should have a quick release buckle on the front straps so you don't have to un-thread them from the buckle when you want to open the bag on the road. It wasn't hard to replace the standard buckle with a quick release version but it would be a better bag if it included them.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good product good price, August 17, 2009
By former ball player (Central Illinois USA)
We recently purchased and used this product for trip out east. It worked much better than our trip to florida with garage bags and wet belongings. Sure it could be bigger but it met our needs. The tie downs ensured the cargo bag was safely attached.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  SF to PV, June 27, 2009
By J. Fuller (San Francsico)
Used this product on a 1900 mile trip to Mexico. It worked very well and is very high quality. As another reviewer noted, it is smaller than I would expect as standard cargo carriers are 60" wide and this carrier is only 48" wide...but both are rated at 11.5 cu ft.? If I were to do it over, I'd try one that is 60" wide. One caution to be aware, the exhaust pipe on my vehicle was near the bottom of the carrier and it produced enough heat to slightly melt the bag and completely melted through one of the strap tie downs. I encountered no weather other than 105 degree temperatures but expect it would remain dry if exposed to rain. It is durable and well constructed.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  An excellent accessory!, June 27, 2009
By twscat1 (OBX)
We purchased this bag to use with a hitch mounted cargo carrier and it has worked wonderfully! The bag is constructed very well with heavy duty zippers, rain flaps and can be expanded up if more space is needed just like a suitcase. The mouting straps are very long and it holds securely. The cargo carrier we have has rounded edges, but if there are square edges I would recommend some sort of protection for the straps as they are a heavy duty nylon and could fray on the edges. We have driven through some heavy downpours with it and the inside of the bag was dry.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Rola 59102 expandable Hitch Tray cargo Bag, June 24, 2009
By Kevin Metzger
I bought this bag to carry cargo in the bed of my restored '56 GMC pickup. This 48" wide bag was perfect for the 50" box in my truck. With the oakwood bed, I wanted something that would hold things and stay dry without mounting it to the bed. I recently took a 700+ mile trip in varied rainy conditions and can report that it did not shift in the front of the bed and kept everything dry! I did use a non skid pad underneath also...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A Must Have!, April 8, 2009
By R. Fohlmeister (Texas)
We purchased a Valley cargo carrier and decided to add this cargo bag to it! It is great for storing smaller and softer items that you don't just want to strap down on the carrier. The bag expands to allow extra luggage, is very strong, waterproof, and easy to deal with. It travels well, and allowed us a lot of extra storage for luggage and beach items.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Item not as pictured, August 11, 2011
By SCCD (Wisconsin)
Same as another reviewer, we also got a bag that was made out of a heavy vinyl / plastic like material. It was not the same material as pictured. I am confident that it will be waterproof but I am concerend about the flexibility of the material in the winter. The zippers are very cheap and after only zipping it up once, one of the teeth broke off and we did not even have anything in it. The bag will not fold up very well because of the stiffness of the vinyl. We had wanted to keep in the the back of our van in the storage compartment until needed but it just won't fold up small enough to fit. Overall the bag is OK but I feel I did not actually get what I thought I had ordered. I will replace it with something else when it wears out.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Not Pretty But Works Well, December 30, 2011
By J. Poulos (NJ)
I just used this bag to hold my family's clothing on a visit to family for the holidays. The bag held four large duffels with two smaller bags that carried personal care items. Three winter coats were packed in there as well.
The Rola bag expands to hold plenty of gear. I mounted the bag on a Harbor Freight Aluminum hitch rack and it fit PERFECT! I gave this four stars because it doesnt look like the picture. Bag is made of a rubber coated nylon material that appears waterproof but is not aesthetically pleasing. In cold weather the material stiffens up and the zippers have a hard time doing their thing. The six sraps held firmly and there was no danger of the bag coming loose. Unlike other bags this one is waterproof but if the exterior were a regular material as pictured it would look nicer but this is easy to clean as well. Get this bag if you have a hitch basket!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Christmas Trip, December 27, 2011
By Mr T
I Purchased the Rola Bag to help with a Christmas Trip to the in laws. We downsized from a mini van to a Subaru forester, and needed the extra space. The bag is much roomier then it looks. It has a zipper that makes it expandable. The instructions to secure the bag were very easy. The bag didn't move an inch after going 600 miles. This was the first time I used a bag with a hitch carrier. Much easier then dealing with the roof. Much quieter. The last 300 miles was in moderate rain and snow. When I got home there were just two spots on the bags that were damp. I highly recommend this bag. I am very satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Better than I thought it would be!, December 27, 2011
By MichL -CO
This Rola 59102 Expandable Hitch Tray Cargo Bag is better/bigger than I thought it woudl be. The tie downs included were a little on the short side and not as strong as I would have liked, but the over all cargo bag is heavy duty and worked as expected thus the five stars. Made it from Denver to Des Moines and back without a glitch, while weather wasn't an issue you this first trip, I suspect as thick as this bag is, the elements will not be a problem. For capacity storage, we packed a plane sized carry-on wheeler suit case and three large duffle bags with some miscelanous shopping bags tucked in between. I would buy this again, suggest to my family and friends and will get a lot of use from this item.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Worth every penny, December 12, 2011
By rlmiller
Bought the cargo bag to go with cargo carrier on back of our SUV. Went on vacation with wife, daughter, son-in-law, and two grandkids. Got everybody's bag in with no trouble. Traveled through snow and rain. Not even damp inside the cargo bag. Really good quality construction and more than adequate tie downs. Received on time as promised. Have used it several times since. This is a great value!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  12-7-2011 - NOT as pictured - Black Shiny Plastic Instead, December 7, 2011
By Tina Ann Byers
What I received is different not only from the photo on Amazon, but also the photo on the outside of the box itself! The photo on Amazon shows a nice dark gray heavy-duty nylon -- one that we all know from other products. It looks durable and can be stuffed super full or folded easily and tied down if this bag was being used less than full while on the road.

On the box that arrived, the bag is photographed as a black (not gray) nylon version, otherwise as as pictured on Amazon, with black shiny nylon edging.

INSIDE the box however, is a shiny, plastic-looking all black bag. The stiffness and rigidity of this plastic material is clearly going to be difficult to work with in colder temperatures. I am actually wondering if it will crack. The logo is also in a different location. CLEARLY this is a different bag. OK, if the company redesigned it, then update the photo and description to people came make an informed choice.

If I was in the store, I would NEVER have bought this bag. I am checking to see if I can get free shipping for this return, because I do not want to keep it.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Seems perfect, December 6, 2011
By Vicky
I have not yet used this product. We got it in preparation of our Christmas trip to Minnesota. The size is perfect for the cargo carrier that we purchased. It appears to be made from quality material and it came with tied down straps to attach to the carrier. We believe that this will be an idea solution for a weather proof container for our items that will not fit in SUV.

Looks great, rugged, stows much stuff for all your traveling goodness. Could carry a bunch of logs in it if you wanted. Inside is lined as well. No leakage in the rain on recent trip. Wish it would fold back into the little box it came with because unpacked it is a large bag.

By GenBen
Just completed my first road trip with the Rola cargo bag. Had four people on trip and could not have made it with all the luggage we had if not for the extra cargo space. The bag kept all luggage dry and had no flapping in the wind with the six tie down straps.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  6000 Miles, August 26, 2011
By Paul Jassal
I bought this bag to carry my camping gear across country this past summer and I must say the bag was incredible except after 5 days it came apart at seam near the bottom which I had to duct tape. I did over 6000 miles with this bag going through heavy rain and dust and everything remained dry. The bag started peeling near the end of the journey, but I am not sure if I recieved a bad bag or I over stuffed it. I left a comment asking for warranty service on the company website and they responded quickly and even gave me another bag as a replacement. I highly recommend this bag even with the issues I experienced because of the punishing I gave it and the outstanding customer service.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice Bag, July 14, 2011
By Bartimus Max (CA)
I don't know why I thought this was a canvas bag, I should have read the description. Either way, this is vinyl/plasticky kind of material that itself is waterproof. The straps are plentiful and great for cinching it down to my hitch mounted cargo basket. My only concern is the ends are stitched into the top of the bag. I was afraid to cinch it too tight for fear of over-stressing this contact point. I also have the same concern about over-stressing the zippers on a large load. At least the zippers are bigThe buckles/straps come completely unassembled, so you have to thread them through the buckles (the right way and in the right direction to get them to cinch properly). This takes awhile, but once you connect them to the bag, you can leave them in place for your next trip. Its nice having everything in a bag you can tie down, no worrying about if every individual item is strapped properly ...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good for long distance trips, July 13, 2011
By Community Organizer
Received this product promptly. I put it on a 48" x 20" aluminum basket-type cargo tray and it fit perfectly. The tiedown straps were simple to install and held the bag to the carrier well. It easily held all of the necessary luggage for my five-person family for a weeklong trip to Florida. We traveled 2,000+ miles, through several torrential rains and several miles of gravel road, and this bag kept every bit of rain and dust outside. I used rubber bands to hold the excess strap material up (to keep it from flapping).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works Great!, July 11, 2011
By Chaser (Minneapolis)
We took the Rola Hitch Tray Cargo Bag on our camping trip last month. Easy to set up and strap onto the rack. Huge improvement over last year when we had loose items on the rack with a haphazard web of bungie cords. With the Rola bag everything stays secure in one place. It held 2 good sized plastic bins with room between them to spare. It rained quite a bit overnight and the items we stored in it stayed perfectly dry. Do be careful not to line the bag up with your vehicle's tailpipe. I accidentally put ours too close and a very small patch of material melted slightly during the 2 hour drive (but stayed intact and did not burn through). For the trip home I wedged a tote lid in between to block the exhaust heat. I don't consider this a flaw as the instructions warn you of it (I just misjudged how close it was). The high rating this bag gets on Amazon is well deserved!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  meets all expectations, July 8, 2011
By SA123
Used this on about an 8 hour trip and on the return and LOVE it. It fits more than you would think. One word of caution though. If using on a hitch cargo carrier make sure that your exhaust is not hitting it directly. We actually melted a tote on the trip and I think it would have melted the bag if it hit it directly. I baught a tip to turn the exhaust to the side and it seems to take care of the issue.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  great bag, July 4, 2011
By D. S. Addy
The bag performed great. I just returned from a 5000 mile cross country trip over varied terrain. It went through down pours without a leak, 107 degree heat, dust storms, snow, etc. It doubled the cargo capacity for the Honda CR-V. It acted like a large compression bag. It would have gotten a perfect rating except for three items; the zipper on the expansion part would stick ( I think it would fill up with dust.) It would have been nice if there had been some stays in the bag to help with its form. I tried to pack the bag with sturdy large items on the perimeter to help with the form, The main issue was the straps over the opening need a quick disconnect feature, minimum they should have been finished so they don't fray. In order to fully open the bag you have to take the straps out of the tie down point, which happened to me at least a couple times a day. After a while the strap ends started to fray making it harder to thread. I would still highly recommend this bag.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very nice, July 2, 2011
By Paul Hillebrand
I have only used it once and this is the first time use for a hitch tray. This bag kept sleeping bags, camp chairs, etc. dry and secure. It's expandability assures that you have more space when needed. If I was a heavy user of these things a heavy duty bag may be needed but for an occassional user it is well worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Xtra space for travel, June 30, 2011
By Lance Kohlmeyer
This bag was great extra space for our 2000 mile round trip vacation. We encountered rain several times during our trip and the contents stayed dry! But that leads me to the only downfall of this bag. When it is raining out and you have to secure this bag to the cargo carrier, the straps get to be to lengthy process and you get quite wet before you have it secured, not to mention your clothes can get dirty from leaning against the bag to thread the straps through the carrier's bars. I am looking for a cargo net to secure it down quicker and easier. I have to say though, the straps stayed secure the entire time. Not once did I have to tighten or adjust them.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great cargo bag, June 12, 2011
By Ty (Benton,IL)
We took a 2500 mile vacation trip to the Rockies with 2 adults, 2 teens and a 6 month old baby. We put a cooler, misc bags, and a baby stroller in the cargo bag. I put a scrap piece of carpet on the hitch hauler to prevent abrasion holes on the bottom of the bag then strapped it on using the cargo net with yellow hooks that Amazon offers. This combination worked great!
As it always happens on a long trip, it rained for half the 1st day and everything was dry inside. I was pleasantly surprised when we unpacked at the hotel.
We also have a Thule Ascent rooftop carrier for our Chevy Suburban but it kills our gas mileage so the hitch hauler behind the SUV created less drag and a drastic improvement to our gas mileage. Plus its alot more convenient to load something waist high versus trying to sling one of my wife's bags onto the roof.
Its a cheaper alternative than a Thule Transporter box and just as useful.
I like it and am happy with the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Waterproof and Durable, April 26, 2011
By Fauster (Etters, PA United States)
This Rola cargo bag is the perfect companion to my cheap Harbor Freight hitch tray and allows me to free up space inside the vehicle for additional passengers and gear.

The straps easily fastened securely to my rack and the top of the bag. I didn't notice or feel any load shifting during use. The expandable zipper was a handy feature as I used the bag in its smaller volume on the first part of my trip then expanded it to full volume for the return. I was grateful to arrive at my destination and find all of the contents bone-dry after traveling in a soaking rain for hours.

The bag showed no visible wear or tear from its maiden voyage and I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to use it. Good stuff!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  great product works great, April 8, 2011
By sgrag
Used the Rola Cargo bag with a hitch cargo tray on a recent 12 hour trip. I was able to get 3 carry on and 1 medium suitcase plus a duffel bag with room to spare. The bag is durable and easy to zip and expand. I did not encounter any rain on the trip so I can't say if it would leak or not. The quality of the bad is very good and I do not think that it would leak. The 6 ties that come with it are not great but they work just fine I added 2 bungee cords (for peace of mind). I will be using this bag again over the summer and have no worries about rain or space.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cargo Bag - Rear carrier, March 26, 2011
By Grant B
This Cargo Bag worked out very well. It was heavy duty - easy to mount on top of my rear cargo carrier - and it protected my cargo just great. I took a trip to Florida with it - and it survived the trip through snow and rain - on a long highway trip just great.
My cargo stayed dry - and it was easy to load and unload. Very happy with it's performance. A very good investment.

I used this to attach to a cargo basket behind a 2007 Dodge Caliber. I traveled about 1600 miles in the NW (December 2010)in horrible snow storms. The Cargo Basket and Cargo Bag were covered in ice, snow, road salt, dirt and very wet. Everything inside stayed 100% dry. Very durable and well made product!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love this bag!, January 19, 2011
By Carly
LOVE this bag! We were looking for some additional storage for a long term trip we took. This bag fit the bill perfectly!

First off, the bag is huge. We fit two suitcases in it and it was maybe 60% full. It is nice that it is adjustable, so you can fill it to the max or tighten down the straps if it isn't full.

Second, the fabric is very sturdy. We used this on a 6 hour trip in the winter sluch and much and the fabric didn't suffer at all. We didn't hit any precipitation on the trip but with the spray, nothing got wet. Very impressed.

We used this with a Valley 90590 Cargo Basket.

Would definitely buy this again. Great value over the hardside options out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  good for the money, January 8, 2011
By Ashley LaLonde (North Carolina, USA)
I bought this for trips from NC to MI and wanted waterproof security. Got it about three days after ordering and used it for our x-mas trip. dry trip up there and rain all the way back down to NC. Both ways it worked great. Nothing was wet when we got home and it fit the cargo rack great. Straps supplied with bag worked good, even though I used two of my own tie downs for my personal security over top of the factory six straps. I would recommend this for anyone taking long trips with a smaller cargo rack (50x20).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy Cargo Bag, January 7, 2011

We bought this because our Yukon doesn't have the luggage space we needed for our family trip. We traveled 1600 miles with it. We didn't go through any rain or snow so I don't know how water proof it is, but it held up in very cold conditions. It was very sturdy and suited our purposes well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Rola cargo bag, January 6, 2011
By TK (TX)
This is a great bag for the price. Very sturdy and large with heavy duty zippers and velcro flap patches. The tie down straps are not very user friendly, but simple bungee cords or alternative straps can be used instead. Fits in my cargo tray well. I like that everything is not crammed inside the back of the car and I can actually see out of the rear window now.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Cargo Bag!, July 31, 2010
By Melissa
We traveled 1,800 miles over 8 days from SC to KY to IN to OH and back to SC with this cargo bag full on our small hitch tray. the cargo bag did a perfect job of keeping our items inside safe from water when it rained. We are very pleased with this product; it can hold A LOT of stuff! We were able to fill it up and still open our back door of our SUV; it was not in the way at all. We highly recommend this cargo bag, especially for long trips where extra cargo space is needed and your only choice is outside of your vehicle. I don't think we noticed a significant change in our gas mileage either (whereas a cargo bag on top of your vehicle could affect your gas mileage).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very good value, July 12, 2010
By Happy Homeowner (Maryland, USA)
This bag is excellent. It is very sturdy and very easy to attach securely to the hitch carrier. At first I did not think it was going to hold much, but as I packed it, more and more stuff kept going in. The first time I did not unzip the expansion zipper, but the second time a stuffed in even more stuff and opened the expander. I was impressed by how much stuff fit in there. I think it will give a long service life.

Used this bag for a trip to Florida recently. The bag held two large strollers and some other stuff. One stroller was a double. We encountered heavy rain but the bag was perfectly dry. The straps never loosened at all, they are tough and don't appear that they would ever rip from the bag. Don't hesitate to buy this bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Worth purchasing, October 6, 2009
By T. Hanson (Clinton, Utah United States)
This bag worked great for our family vacation this summer. We used it in combination with the Valley 90590 basket cargo carrier. We were able to put 2 large hardside suitcases and two carry ons in it with room for more. Love the fact that it is expandable in height. We did buy additional tie down straps as the ones that are included looked a bit "wimpish". Even with the bag in the cargo carrier we still had room in the carrier for other stuff. We do recommend when you put it in the carrier that you turn your bolts around (on the carrier) so they don't poke the bag and put holes in it. Highly recommend this bag, kept all our stuff clean and dry.

Very sturdy well-built bag.. feels like it will last a lifetime. It's very easy to strap down to your hitch basket. The only slight nuisance is the straps go over the zipper, so once you strap it down, you have to unstrap it if you forgot to add something to the bag. Overall very happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid Product, June 30, 2009
By JN (Dayton, OH United States)
Well made and durable product. I used this product in conjunction with a poly cargo carrier for a camping trip. I carried a good deal of gear in this bag and it kept it all clean and in good condition on our trip. I stuffed a surprising amount of stuff in this bag and it saved me from packing gear on the roof rack which meant I didn't need to pack a ladder either. I can not attest to the bag's waterproofness since it didn't rain, but it is as advertised and I based my purchase on the other reviews for this product. Worth the money in my opinion.

(hard to tell in photo, but bag is expandable to make it taller to fit more items in it, very nice feature.)

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Weather tight!, October 9, 2011

A great weather tight bag! Heavy duty zippers and sturdy construction. Very happy with my purchase! It holds a lot, more than I've thrown at it!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  functional but not aesthetically appealing, September 22, 2011
By pocheng
Actual product does not seem to match the external texture of the product as seen in the product's picture. The material looks like the surface of an inflatable rubberized bed. Hope it satisfies the function it was intended to do...be able to load as much big and small outdoor stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Used with Harbor Freight Aluminum Carrier, September 6, 2011
By E. Vecchiola (Greensburg, PA)
I paired the Rola Collapsible bag with an aluminum hitch carrier from Harbor Freight - think it was $65 after a coupon. It's a great combination and we used it on a 10hr drive to the beach. It was a heavy downpour and yet the inside of the bag was perfectly dry.

I absolutely recommend this bag over the one sold at Harbor Freight. Much better quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great waterproof bag, September 2, 2011
By David Shepherd
Its heavy but it kept contents dry despite heavy rains (front edge of Irene) for over two hours. Only negative was that there is no carrying/storage case included.
