An Icy Upset, November 16, 2008

In an incredible solo effort in the closing laps of the Oslo circuit course, Lance Armstrong powered his was to the "Rainbow Jersey" in the 1993 UCI Road World Championships Road Race.
The DVD captures the wild ride after some wicked weather brought a few severe icy spots on the course; with a camera "surprisingly" in position to chronicle a wealth of spills when riders did not take one sharp descent very gingerly.
Armstrong's breakaway is juxtaposed with the refusal of the pack immediately behind him from forming a cohesive chase, as riders like Miguel "Big Mig" Indurain and Olaf Ludwig essentially concede the title to the upstart American and become content to sprint for the remaining pair of podium spots.
The coverage is first-rate and the significance of the victory became even greater as Armstrong was setting a foundation to a legendary career that may not be over. This was an icy upset that will heat up any DVD player on a cold winter day.
