An ideal accessory for cycling enthusiasts, the Polar CS Series wireless speed sensor measures cycling speed and distance via a magnet rotating on the front or rear wheel. Then, once you've completed your workout, you can download the information to one of Polar's CS Series cycling computers for further analysis or goal development. The data, which includes current, average, and maximum speeds along with total distance completed, helps you make the most of your high-spin workouts. The sensor is shipped with a Polar bike mount for easy installation and is backed by a two-year warranty. Note that the sensor is compatible only with CS Series cycling computers, such as the CS100, CS200, or CS300. Owners of S Series computers will need to purchase a different sensor. What's in the Box? CS Series speed sensor, bike mount, user's manual About Polar The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.

Works good, but not for long, March 8, 2010
By ColoradoSkier (Denver, CO)

This speed sensor is very easy to setup, and worked very good right out of the box. The downside is this is the third unit I have purchased in the last nine months. The battery just doesn't last very long, and it is not user replaceable. Polar will replace the battery for a fee.

mixed results, July 15, 2009

This is a replacement. Hit a bump (not bad enough to damage my wheel) but makes the speed sensor erratic. Product should be more robust. Also, cannot mount the receiver on the handlebars - has to be worn on my left wrist as otherwise reception from the speed sensor is very poor.

Good could be great!, September 28, 2011

IT is a good product it gives exactly as advertised. Very accurate.
Where it fails, and I am one of 20,000+ that believe the same. Every two Years they get another $30.00 from me.
They refuse to design a replaceable battery for the speed sensor and the cadence sensor. So when each device dies due to battery failure, you have to purchase another device.
Once the actual computer dies, I will look at other products.

Polar CS series Speed Sensor Review, October 10, 2010

Nice and reliable product. Also very easy to install.
Only downside is that battery cannot be replaced. Instead, you have to buy a new sensor. At least, it last over 2 years.

I loved this product until the battery failed. It is insane that you cannot replace the battery yourself.

Speed Sensor for Heartrate monitor, December 24, 2011
By Rick

This speed sensor works great. I think it is unfortunate that Polar designed this component without changeable batteries. You must completely replace it after a few years. Bad design on great product.
Amazon was fast with shipping on product as specified. If I could replace the old batteries, I'd give this 5 stars.
Thanks!!

This should be a lot better from a maker like Polar, October 22, 2011
By John G. Hoke (Oklahoma City, OK United States)

I've used this bike computer for several years and every one has had the same problem - it shuts off for no apparent reason and then starts back up. Some sensors seem to be better but virtually every one I've had does it to some extent, including this new one I bought to put on a new bike. It also doesn't make sense that the battery cannot be changed easily. I probably wouldn't recommend this but I'm married to it now with at least three sets on six bikes.

Battery!, March 20, 2012
By Electrical Engineer

Battery cannot officially (or easily) be replaced by the user. That makes this product unacceptable to me. There is no indication the battery is low on my computer unit either.
