Can you imagine a world without backpacks? Neither can we. Yet it wasn't long ago that they were strictly outdoor gear. One fall in the late sixties, the JanSport team heard that students were using the brand's small cross country daypacks to cross campus instead. It made sense with comfortable padded straps, and easy access front panel opening and catch resistant nylon zippers the bags were just as great for carrying books as they were for carrying gear. Seeing the potential the team made a few notebook worthy design adjustments including the addition of a durable vinyl base to improve weight capacity. Soon after, JanSport began selling the first ever campus backpacks into college bookstores around the country.

Nice... but small, January 6, 2009
By Maddy (MI USA)

I ordered this bag because I needed something strong to hold all my books in and have previous JanSport bags/backpacks and loved them. The bag came promptly (and with an awesome price) but I guess I thought it would have been a bit bigger than what it is. I'm in college and I can probably only fit one large book, a folder, and a small notebook. I'll probably end up buying something else because this just won't fit all four books, four folders, and a large notebook.
Overall, GREAT product but only if you're looking for a small bag.

Not bad, December 16, 2009

This is a cute bag, but I was hoping it would have a bit more structure to it. The picture makes it look like the sides are more "solid" but they are collapsible instead. I am sure it will be good quality since I've always had good luck with JanSport, but I don't think I would have paid around $15 for it seeing it in a store. An inside zipper pocket would be nice too, but it does have the outside pocket for pens and things. Still glad I bought it but glad I didn't buy two different colors like I had planned.

It fits everything I need, PERFECTLY, October 6, 2009

Its a great bag and has a pocket on the outside for a cell phone, an iPod, lip gloss, make-up--whatever, but its a smaller pocket. I use this bag for school and it fits all my notebooks and such that I need for every day.

Too small for a school bag, September 1, 2011
By CampingMom

My daughter purchased this with the intention of using it rather than a backpack. Unfortunately, the size is a problem for middle school needs. Not everything would fit but a middle school kid has larger books, binder, etc. so she could not carry everything in that one bag. The appearance is very nice but due to the size it now hangs in her closet.

Just what I wanted, November 19, 2009

I've been looking for a small tote bag to take on travel excursions or short shopping jaunts. I've found plenty of large tote bags, but I don't want to lug around a big bag when visiting a city and touring. This bag is perfect for holding an umbrella, guide book, map, water, gloves, scarf or souvenirs. I keep my money and valuables in a waist pack or small cross- body bag. So this tote is just right for me. Pay attention to the dimensions and decide if it will work for your everyday or travel needs. I love it and I also keep it in the car for shopping. Will be buying more colors.

Great organizer, May 7, 2009

I purchased a few of these on sale. I really like them.
I use them to keep books from different subjects seperate. A couple can fit into my backpack easily so I just have to pull out the bag I need. The pocket on the outside holds pens and anything small.
They are water resistant so I put my water bottles in them in case they leak. If the bag does get wet inside I can just turn it inside out to dry.
When I moved I used them to put my stuff in. I put a tag on top with my name. They kept everything organized. 3-4 can fit upright in a small box when full. Or they can be carried by the handle. They even fit on my bookshelf so I didn't have to unpack them until I needed them.
I would recommend giving a gift in one of these bags instead of gift wrap. It can be used in so many ways. I am going to buy more while they are on sale.

looks small but holds alot!, May 4, 2009

I use this bag as my purse. It's perfect to fit a waterbottle, notebook, planner, umbrella, shirt, etc in it! It's great because I can cram all of my stuff in here. I do wish it had more pockets, they get rather cluttered and it becomes hard to find stuff. Other than that, I love it. It doesn't look big but you can put alot in it. Also durable and I machine washed it (the zebra one) after spilling cheerwine on it and it came out looking like new.

Cute and utilitarian, April 1, 2009

I wanted a tote that we could pack flat in our check-luggage, so that if we bought too much stuff while traveling, we'd have a small emergency bag to use as a carry-on during the return flight. This bag is perfect. It goes with the Superbreak backpack (which is our carry-on for electronics, water, medicine, books and toiletries) and the 8-Track (which is my travel handbag). As it's made of the lightweight Jansport material it packs very flat and will not take up much space in the luggage even if we do NOT need to use it on the way back. It looks like it can hold, maybe, 2 bottles of wine plus a baguette, but I'm not sure it is sturdy enough to support the weight of 2 bottles of wine. Still, it will suffice for this trip.

Amazing!!, December 23, 2008

This bags seems to be fathomless on the inside but small and handy on the outside. Also , I've got many compliments, even from ppl i dont know about it, maybe because it's a refreshing change from the schoolbag i used to lug around everywhere, ye even to parties. It's got a very usefu pocket on the outside big enouh to fit my wallet, camera, phone and a notepad without looking bulky. Also it's waterproof, t's made of some knd of plastic but it's not very evident from far.
