5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect fit; necessary with time, August 21, 2008
By Sci-Fi and Games Guy (Barboursville, WV USA)
The bite valve and straws work perfectly with the Camelbak water bottles. It is necessary to note, because the listing doesn't say at the moment. One size fits all bottles. You cut the straw to the correct size for smaller bottles.
After about four months it's time to change the bite valve for sure. As gunk builds up in the valve.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Can I just get the bite valve?, June 2, 2009
By Triplet Mommy (Orange County, CA)
We love the CamelBak bottles (no spill!), but the kids have a bad habit of biting tiny holes in the bite valves and then they don't work as well. I was glad to find that we could replace the valves without having to buy new bottles, but I wish that they would sell the valves with out the straws - we are now up to about 12 straws that we do not need!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Bite valve, January 25, 2009
By GreyMama (VA, USA)
Great product - the valve does wear out after a while.

I wish Camelbak would sell the straw and valve seperately, though - the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5. My kids do tend to chew on the valve and sometimes break them, so I need the valves more than I need extra straws.

The Camelbak bottles really cut down on the disposable bottle waste here.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Glad I got it, September 24, 2009
By Almost College Graduate
I was in need of a replacement for my water bottle & it's a great replacment. I just wish it would have come with one straw and 2 tops, since that's what I need more of!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Check REI..., September 17, 2010
By Catherine Buchanan (JACKSONVILLE, FL, US)
REI sells just the bite valves (multicolor pack of 5 for $10). I know at least in my house, we need the bite valves and not the straws, so buying from REI works out better for us.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  $6.00 for this?, September 18, 2010
By Lindsay
I love the water bottles for my kids. But having expensive replacement parts such as the bite valve is enough for me to stop buying the product. This isn't the way it should be for consumers.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Too many straws!, May 28, 2010
By B. Lang (WI USA)
I clean my bite valve regularly, but eventually the rubber itself gets stained and retains smell/taste. The straw, being hard plastic, is much easier to clean fully and AT MOST I would need 1 straw for every 2 valves. Fortunately, camelbak sells a 5 pack of valves on their site, though I'm not sure why it's not on Amazon yet...

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Parts for Camelback Better Bottle, August 31, 2009
By Ben K. (Chicago, Illinois, USA)
I got this product to replace the bite valve on my Camelbak Better Bottle. I really like the bottle, but the bite valve on the bottle developed a hole it it. I'm not sure how that happened. I really just wanted a new bite valve, I didn't need a replacement straw, let alone 2. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the bite valve only, so I had to buy this kit. I'll keep the straws, maybe I'll use them someday.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  6 dollars? they can't be serious., August 8, 2010
By javafuel (Los Angeles, CA United States)
As a product designer, it sickens me when I see items like this. Its cost is no more than 50 cents. 12-15 dollars for an entire bottle is reasonable, because most costs are in the bottle. But selling a couple straws and a bite valve for half price of an entire bottle? Clean it with denture cleaning tablets (none flavor ones), your bottle will go for a long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Two straws, one bit valve, March 8, 2010
By M. Morrow
I have had my Camelbak Better Bottle for more than two years now. I recently had to buy this because the bit valve/mouthpiece was all worn out, complete with holes and mildew that wouldn't come out. I didn't have reason to replace the straw, but this was the only way to get the mouthpiece. The straw is a durable, hard plastic that doesn't seem to accumulate mildew and whatnot. With the cleaning kit (or usually a cotton swab), It's as good as new.

Honestly, I'm not sure why this pack comes with two straws and one bit valve. I feel like the next time my mouthpiece wears out, I'll have FOUR extra straws which I may never use. They're not recyclable, so I'm at a loss.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  spare parts, March 3, 2010
By Willem Schira (Madison, WI)
I purchased this after the bite valve on my older CamelBak bottle got all funkified and gross. It'd be nice if they offered kits with two bite valves and one stem instead of the other way around, but oh well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  CamelBak products rock, June 4, 2009
By gmasimp (Sterling, KS USA)
Wow, it's great to be able to get fresh valves and straws for these bottles. The bottles aren't cheap so we hate to get rid of them! This is so easy. Just clip it at the length marked on the package for your bottle. My grandkids love these too!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Way too expensive, October 29, 2010
By RC (MD, USA)
If you only need the straw, you can try gently jamming a normal drinking straw onto the straw attaching part. You may have to wedge a pen inside the straw to enlarge the opening.
alternatively use the bottle without any straws.

Too bad they don't sell the bit valves separately.

Not sure how well this would work in the long run.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Just wanted the bite valve, April 27, 2010
By megan (Columbus, OH)
I love my CamelBak, but I am irritated that they force you to buy 2 straws to get one bite valve. Obviously, the bite valve goes through much more stress than the straws. I want to be able to purchase bite valves without the straws. That said, this product was exactly as I expected and I was glad to get replacement parts for my bottle.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good product, April 24, 2010
By R. Shaw (Poway, CA USA)
They are just replacement parts, but I did like the black mouthpiece over the white/clear style. Straws are easy enough to trim to fit all bottle sizes. If you love your Camelback bottle then this will help it last longer. My bite pieces and straws wore out after about a year of regular use.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Product, April 22, 2010
By J (Brighton, MI)
I was glad I was able to buy this product. We love the CamelBak bottles but my kids tend to chew a little on the bite valves so I needed to replace them. I also found mold growing in one of the valves. It is nice that you can buy replacements without replacing the entire bottle. I don't really need the extra straw I would rather have 2 valves with one straw or just buy them seperately.

By Landy (Cocoa, FL)
I love the replacement straw and bit valve! Mine was old and pretty gross so I'm glad I could easily buy a new one! :-) I only had to snip the end of the straw to make it fit my 1 liter bottle, but it works great!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Joining the choir, March 28, 2010
By Catherine (Santa Fe, NM)
I find Camelbak products to be great and we own 6 bottles and two packs (say NO to disposable plastic water bottles!) but I must agree that it seems ridiculous that bottle bite valves cannot be purchased individually! How many requests will it take, Camelbak?

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great product but why not separate, March 11, 2010
By R. Fitch
I'm adding my voice to the already-extant cacophony: why can't we order a bite valve without the straws?? As others have said, the valve goes bad way before the straw ever would. It irks me that I'm paying almost half the amount as it would be to just get a brand new bottle.

I've combed the internet for suggestions on how to clean the bite valve to prevent having to replace it so often (without the Camelbak cleaning gear) and here's what I've come up with: I put it in a glass with hot soapy water and let it sit overnight, and then I scrub it out with my pinkie with thin cloth (bandana) over it, then I try to scrub the inner grooves with q-tips, going in from both ends. Nothing works very well! An old toothbrush, trimmed, will not get rid of those moldy spots once they start. I've read you can boil it, but then people say it breaks down faster and gets holes if you do that, so I haven't tried it. What I'm going to do with this one is just take it off and shake the water out of it every night when I get home and let it air out, and scrub it once a week or so. If you have other ideas comment please!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love the Bite Valve, February 14, 2010

I bought a Cambelbak water bottle with the bite valve and loved it. The problem was that after a little while, it gets nasty on the inside. I was so excited to find the replacement straws/caps online!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  CamelBak Straws, October 22, 2009
By Dale L. Vayer (Dale City, VA United States)
Perfect to add to the drink bottles. We bought the first bottle to use during an outdoor project that involved sand. Hoping these bottles would stop sand from blowing into our water. We have since bought more, plus smaller ones for our grandchildren. Our kids have bought them for their homes. These are excellent drink bottles. Keeps your drink safe from spilling, safe from the dogs no matter where you set them down and they are easy to drink from.

We bought these straws so we could cycle the straws and nipples through the dishwasher. Again... perfect. Can not speak highly enough about them. The can be easily cut to be used in any of the waterbottle sizes, which again makes them perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Just What I Needed!, October 19, 2009
By E. Garces (Phoenix, AZ)
This was exactly the replacement part I was looking for. It helped that I knew the name of the water bottle that I had. The name of the type of bottle that I had was stated on the original receipt which I still had from Sport's Chalet.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Easy to use and works well, August 5, 2009
By Kat (North Ga., United States)
I have only had my bottle for a few days but I use crystal light in it so i can see where it is left in the bite tube. I take off the bite tube, rinse it out, rinse under it and use a paper towel if needed to clean better. Put the bit back on, then put it all in the dishwasher, if it is still wet under the bite I just take it off and dry it so it will not grow mold, it is not all that hard to do. I got extra because Murphy's law works a bit to well with me so wanted extra 'just in case'.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  CamelBak excellent products, June 27, 2009
By Chris (LI, NY)
CamelBak makes an excellent product, and this one is no exception. I wish the bite valves were a bit more durable; they get annoying and leaky when they develop a small hole. I don't know if the pinholes are from normal use, or my daughter gnawing at the bite valve now and then. However, it is good to be able to get a replacement. How many other products have you purchased that had a component wear out that you couldn't replace?

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great concept, June 1, 2009
By AK (Somerville, MA)
I love the bite valve/straw concept and have the .5L and .75L bottles. It's great that replacements are available. One warning: if you suffer from jaw pain you may find that using the bite valve exacerbates your jaw pain. I have intermittent jaw pain and on those days drinking from my CamelBak hurts.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  CamelBak Better Bite Valve and Straws, December 25, 2008
By Betsy Strain
CamelBak Better Bite Valve and Straws

These items are of the same outstanding quality as the CamelBak water bottles for which they are replacement parts. I am very pleased to have extra parts when I may need them. I have had some adjustments in learning to drink from these bottles with the bite valve use, but I like the sanitary water they provide and am liking them better and finding them easier to use every day.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Replacement, November 3, 2008
By koolchicken (Kauai, Hawaii)
I wanted another bite valve and straw because I have two diffrent size bottles. I love having extra of these on hand, I cut one straw to fit my smaller bottle and I kept the other as a spare. Having an additional bite top is great too. Since they should be replaced every so often (and they're small and easy to lose), it's good to have an extra on hand. I would definatly reccomend this to anyone with a Camelbak Better Bite bottle.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  love them, August 27, 2008
By wafishead (Washington State)
I just oredered more replacement valves and straws.... primarily so that each of the 4 family members has their own color, but extra of anything in our house is great. I use a pipe cleaner to clean out all small parts of the lids, straws, and valves. My bite valve is getting a bit chewed up, but that is my own problem of using as a pacifier! :)

By Prince fan (Lake County, Illinois, USA)
...unfortunately, I don't have a CamelBak sports bottle, so these straws didn't FIT! I wish more companies that produce sports bottles DID offer replacement straws because they are so easy to lose or destroy.
DO NOT place these items in the dishwasher!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Camelbak did it again but...., January 14, 2008
By N. Gurarye (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
I usualy love camelbak's products. The concept here is great (well sealed bottle even when it's tipped over) the outcome is not that great. The valve plastic material is very fragile/brittle and broke 2 days after I bought the bottle. It's not replaceble so I needed to buy a new bottle. Other than this and the price (3 times of regular bottle) it's a good product.
