Very handy for cleaning, July 22, 2009
By Courtney J. Ross (Greenville, NC)
|

My dad and I both have Camelbak water bottles (with bite valves), and he has a Camelbak water backpack as well. My dad sometimes puts tea in his bottles, and I use Gatorade from time to time. After a while, we both started to see rings of mold on the inside of the valves for our water bottles. Nothing worked to clean them except leaving them in bleach, which we preferred not to do.
This cleaning set is what we needed. The smaller brush with a long neck can easily clean straws and the valve before mold would ever become and issue. The larger brush is great for the insides of the bottles, as well as the backpack.
If you have Camelbak bottles, this cleaning set will be a great investment to make sure they stay clean!

Brush is too short!, July 27, 2010
By P. Wu
|
|
So I'm a huge believer in camelbak hydration systems. I own 4 or 5 different camelbak bladders and 3 different packs. Anyway, I bought this kit to clean the bladders figuring that since it is made by camelbak, they would make the brush long enough to reach all the way down the entire length of the hose.
Boy was I wrong! The small snake brush is not long enough to clean the entire length of the bladder hose!!! What the heck were they thinking? Its not even close. There is about a 5 to 6 inch section of the hose that cannot be cleaned unless you detach the hose from the bladder. If you own a camelbak, you know how difficult that is. So basically this kit is useless cuz you can't clean a section of the hose. If anyone knows where I can get a brush that is long enough, please let me know. I used to have this other kit made from hydraclean or something that I bought from REI, that one had a brush that is long enough...but I lost that brush when I moved and I can't seem to find that kit any more.

Necessary if you have a Camelbak water bottle, August 23, 2009
By Smart Shopping (TN)
|

My 10 year old daughter and 6 year old son both have Camelbak Better Bottles. This cleaning brush set is an absolute necessity in order to properly clean certain parts of the bottle. While you could use a variety of brushes to clean the inside of the bottle, the large brush provided here makes it a quick process. The smaller brush is the main reason I bought this. It's the only thing I could find small enough to fit down into the straw and valve on the cap and really scrub them out. The brush part is attached to a long plastic hose which can be cut to size if you don't need the length. The only thing missing from this set is a brush sized to scrub out the inside of the bite valve. I use a bottle brush...the side used to clean a baby bottle nipple is the perfect size....but it would be nice if that were included in this set.
If you own a Camelbak Better Bottle, I completely recommend buying this cleaning brush set, even if it's just for the small brush. Yes, the parts are all dishwasher safe but a dishwasher can't get down into the straw and valve and scrub any lingering bacteria out like this skinny brush can.

skinny brush too short for tube, June 22, 2010
By =) (new jersey, usa)
|
|
I bought this set for the skinny brush as well. I was so happy that it's long and flexible, except it's not long enough to fit down the entire tube of the camelbak! I don't want to detach the tube from the reservoir because that loosens the seal of the tube, so there's still about 5 inches that aren't clean in my tube. Now I can see a distinct line between where the tube is clean, and where it is still dirty. I'm rather disappointed they wouldn't make the brush long enough!!! I also wish they would sell the skinny brush by itself.

Too Short!, October 18, 2010

The Pipe Clear is 8 inches too short to fully clean the tube. Bummer. The part that gets clean is nice, but I am still stuck with a moldy camelbak

Does not do what most intend/hope for..., March 31, 2011
By NMSU Aggie (Las Cruces, NM)

Simply stated the brush is not long enough for the tube, making this product pretty much a waste. The other brush is good and does what is intended but... if you can't clean the mold/algae or whatever from the tube then its not clean.
I do not understand why they would design a product with such a blatant flaw, with that said, I would be more than happy to buy another one if I knew for sure it would be long enough (you hear that Camelbak people?!?)
Anyways, guess I'll try bleach and see if that cleans the tube.

Easy way to clean hydration backpack reservoir/tube, December 2, 2010
By Mommy (TX, USA)
|
|
I have a Camelbak hydration backpack. I use it for water or a sugar-free electrolyte drink. I usually just rinse the reservoir, let water run through the tube, and clean the bite valve with soap. (I've read that using soap on the reservoir & tube will leave a soapy flavor...ew.) But I know that occasionally a good scrubbing is necessary. This product is easy to use and fits my Camelbak perfectly! By getting this product BEFORE my Camelbak got gunked up with lots of mold, I'm hoping to avoid that altogether. After using the scrubbers I just washed them in the top rack of the dishwasher.

snake thing !, March 3, 2010
By Willem Schira (Madison, WI)

The snake brush thing is great for cleaning the hose on bladders, and also for cleaning the stem and valve assembly on CamelBak bottles. The bigger brush is awesome for cleaning holds when bouldering, so it's multi-use!

Necessary, January 18, 2010

I wish I knew this tool existed a year ago when I bought my first Camelbak bottle. The long, bendable, skinny round bruch is necessary to properly clean the mouthpiece. The large brush not necessary, however.

Not so amazing for "Better Bottle", January 9, 2010
By M. Morrow
|
|
I bought this because I own one of CamelBak's better bottles with the bit valve and straw. I got sick of using cotton swabs to clean out the mouth piece, so I bought this after I saw a reviewer had used it for such.
It works okay, but I don't even use the larger brush; it's easy enough to get a dish sponge in the bottle part.
As for the small brush, the gauge of the straw is slightly too large for the brush to really clean, but it does reach all the way through (unlike cotton swabs). I use the brush part (it comes out of the long tube easily) to clean between the twist-ridges on the cap. Regarding the mouthpiece, it's impossible to use. I'm convinced the mouthpiece is designed to be thrown away, which disappoints me.
I'm sure it'd be much better if I'd been using it for a reservoir, but frankly, I like my bottle better. I just wish Camelbak made a device specifically for it.

Must have for Camelbak bottles., June 22, 2009
By J. CARM (So Cal, USA)

My Basic Review:
These brushes are a must have if you use Camelbak products with bite valve. I use the large brush to clean my reseviour in my Camelbak pack and also to clean my .75 and 1 liter Camelbak bottles. I use the smaller tube brush to clean the tube in my Camelbak backpack and the tube in my Camelbak bottles. I also use the tube brush to clean the bite valve. Both products work great and do not scratch the soft reseviour or water bottles.
Simple Description: Two items come in the clear package. One looks like a bottle brush with soft bristles and the other is a tube brush with what looks like a small pipe cleaner made of the same material as the bigger bottle brush.

An absolute essential, August 28, 2010
By SDSU Student

I love my Camlebak water bottle, but was concerned about cleaning out the small parts like the straw, bite valve and cap. The small wire brush is excellent at doing so.
I usually clean the straw cap and valve with the brush and some soap, and then put them into the dishwasher to rinse. I found that it is hard to remove the soap from the bite valve so it helps to let the dishwasher do that.
the bigger brush is also effective at cleaning inside the water bottle, but i never use it because i feel the dishwasher is effective at cleaning that on it's own.

Brush Too Short., February 8, 2012

Simple. The long brush is way too short to clean the tube of a standard reservoir from one end. Onlty18" I am sure these brushes are good for something, not its intended purpose.
Cannot recommend this product.

Fantastic product!, February 5, 2011
By GrahamLiketheCracker (Palos Verdes, CA)

I use this every single day. I exclusively use re-usable straws, so I am thankful that I have a product that will allow me to clean the entire inside of the straw. I use it to clean the straw and valve on my better bottle and it works fantastically for that purpose. My only complaint and what is keeping me from rating it 5 stars is that the metal part where the bristles are rusts. Which does not scream cleanliness to me. Fix that issue and you've got a 5 star product.

Great for cleaning the hard to clean spots!!!, December 17, 2010

My camelbak had alot of nastiness in the hard to clean spots. I purchased this to clean the tube and the sucking spout. This worked great!! It got out the grime and mildew. The only complaint is that it can be longer. This is a must have if you want to re-use and keep your camlebak clean.

The tube cleaner is 60 cm long which is half as long as the longest camelbak tube. SO what you do is stick it through one end of the tube then when your done cleaning switch and stick and clean the other end of the tube. That way you clean the entire tube. ; )

Short tube cleaner. What's the point????, May 25, 2011
By Brian
|
|
After using my hydration bladder for awhile, I noticed a build up of "stuff" in the tube. I purchased the cleaning kit with hopes to clean the tube. However, the tube cleaner falls short and I cannot clean out the visible gunk at the base of the tube. The primary reason to purchase this kit was to clean the tube, but it hasn't done the job it was suppose to do. If you're looking for a way to clean the tube, I suggest you look somewhere else.

Camelbak Cleaning Brush, August 8, 2011
By Alex (Alhambra, CA USA)
|
|
These brushes are useful for my water bottles and for my Camelbak reservoirs. I use the larger brush for bottles and the reservoir and the smaller brush for the delivery tube and bite valve. I am paranoid about drinking from a dirty container and I am glad to have them to clean with along with the cleaning tablets. The brushes are soft enough to not damage the containers but are tough enough to do its job. My only concern is that the smaller brush is not long enough to clean the entire Camelbak tube. Other than that, great tools!

all you need to drink clean water from a camelbak, August 31, 2011
By tinybox

|
I ride a pedicab in Chicago and use my camelbak to stay hydrated daily. The hose started changing color slightly after a few weeks, and I figured that drinking whatever was growing there, though it might alter my mind, certainly wasn't good for my health. So i found this. It is cheaper than the kit with the soap. And I have plenty of non-toxic soap (I've been using Dr. Bronner's). Golden.

If you need to clean your Camelbak tube, this is absolutely useless. ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING THEN DON'T BUY IT. Shame on seller. Might as well send us a straw and spoon from make McDonalds. You will get the CHEAPER version, I know because I've owned prior kits.

Too short, September 12, 2011
By J. Goodell
|
|
I should have read the reviews on this item. The reservoir (skinny) brush is entirely too short for the tube that I have on my Camelbak. To be specific, the reservoir brush is 26.5 inches long. Amazon should include this information on the product description. Save your money, get a wire hanger, straighten it out, and duct tape a wide cotton swab to the end. For those of you that already purchased this brush, straighten out a wire hanger and attach to the end to make longer.
I have not tried the large brush yet, but I really never intended to use it. If i find that the large brush is amazing, I'll come back and edit my review.

Don't buy this if you need to clean your tube, September 4, 2011
By Sitruss
|
|
Got this yesterday to clear out some nasty black buildup in the hose of my Camelbak reservoir, but as other reviews have stated the tube brush is too short by over half a foot which makes it fairly useless. To its credit, it does a great job cleaning what it can reach.... but if you can't clean the entire thing its sort of worthless. Others have suggested removing the other end of the tube or cutting it shorter, neither of which would be necessary if the product had been designed with a basic level of competence. Absolutely baffling. I'm trying my luck with baking soda in hot water instead, hopefully it'll do what this set couldn't.

Rusted after one month, November 24, 2011
By Robin

Straw cleaner rusted after one month - immediately after returns are accepted. Bottle brush is too big to be used for anything else. I bought a different bottle brush (OXO Good Grips Bottle Brush) I like MUCH better that has a flexible head and can be used for almost every bottle we own.
The Camelbak product was a waste of money for me.
Still looking for a decent straw cleaner

Tube brush is too short!!!, October 21, 2011
By Doris Chin
|
|
The kit consists of two items, one of which is the brush for cleaning the tube. One massive flaw, the tube brush is not long enough to clean the entire tube from one end (it only reaches about 2/3 of the length, the brush has a maximum reach of about 26.5"). Clean it from both ends you say? Well that would work except I have installed a camelbak flow meter into my tube and that is extremely difficult to remove. The reason I bought this kit was to be able to clean my tube without a complete dis-assembly, extremely disappointed. This is mentioned by other reviewers, but I didn't see those reviews before I bought --- and I never imagined it could even be an issue.
