About Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Good value in this class, July 1, 2009
By David J. Delaurant (Fresno, CA USA)
|

There are several nice features to this cycle. For one thing, you can mount any standard saddle and pedals. Computer mounting is fairly easy as well, with the magnet already mounted on the flywheel and a screw attachment on the front fork. Some users may find the bottle cage useful, but I removed right away to make it easier to step through -- swinging your leg over the saddle will more than likely bash your ankle on the seat adjustment bar. Both the seat and handlebar posts are a bit loose in the highest positions, but you can cure this easily with shimming. Overall, construction feels pretty solid -- the welds look good and the unit is reassuringly heavy.
What would have made this a 5-star choice would be an optional standard handlebar stem fitting. This would let me set up the entire unit to better reproduce my road cycles. At my height of 74", I find the stock handlebars uncomfortably low after about 20 minutes. Another, much more minor gripe is that the front rollers (for moving the unit around) are a little undersized -- it's easier to pick the whole thing up and carry it than to tilt it forward high enough for the wheels to roll properly.

Quality item but not gym equivalent, August 22, 2009
By SPININ.NY (NY)
|
|
This bike is solid, (arrived scuffed up a bit) but the handle bars are very short and not comfortable for standing hill climb or for warmup "jogging". I am 5'7" so I am not excessively tall. The 29# flywheel is not substantial enough and does not provide a smooth hill climb when standing. Not comparabe to the Schwinn's and Lemonds I have used for years in classes. Would be fine if you don't want to get out of the saddle!

Defective product; no help from seller / producer, December 19, 2009
By K. Lindert (USA)
|
|
I do not recommend that you buy this product. It arrived defective: handle bars jiggle and the pedals jump at the top / bottom of each pedal stroke so that the ride is not smooth. Then there's no way to resolve the problem. Seller refers you to the maker / producer (Stamina products). Stamina customer service person unhelpful, only saying that she could provide "replacement parts" if I could take the bike apart and identify the problem. Well, I'm not a bike mechanic and guess that most people aren't either. So then I went back to the seller asking to return it. However the bike is so heavy that when it arrived, I had to cut the box to get it out -- so I don't have a box anymore. I can't lift it to put it into a box and send it back even if I had a box. Seller simply said: you have to handle packaging and return, we're in California and can't help you with that. Then he said "this is a cheaper spinning bike so it won't be like the experience you have with spinning bikes in the gym." Well, that's for sure. Better to put more money down on a better quality bike that is the brand you use in the gym and buy it LOCALLY near your house (not on the web) so that if there are problems you can get better local customer service. Don't recommend the product or the seller.

excellent bike, June 18, 2009
By Kari Blevins (NJ)

|
This is an excellent bike, especially for the price. Have done Spinning for years and wanted something which would allow me to work at home. While not as nice as the Schwinn and other bikes you'll see at the gym, this is a great bike for the home. Nice action, nice wheel.

Great Home Gym item, October 25, 2009
By H (Little Rock, AR)

I've attended several spin classes and wanted something I could use during the cold months when working out outside wasn't a possibility.
This is a great bike to have at home. I've been using it for about an hour everyday for a week and the product seems very well constructed. Makes minimal noise and handles the spin routines very well.
Handle bars and seat adjust easily and so does the resistance.
Only con I have is that the resistance adjustment doesn't have an exact measurement. It only has notches. This makes it harder to track.
Not bulky and it was very easy to put together. Took me about 10 minutes once I finally got it out of the box!!
I would highly recommend this product.
Oh but get a cushioned seat. trust me.

Happy Buyer, October 10, 2011
By NewMe!

I must admit that I previously purchased this same bike in another state at a store and I acdtually used it alot. Unfortunately I decided to sell it back because I was moving to another state and I did not know what kind of space I would be dealing with in my new apartment. Well long story short I joined a local gym (I am in the country now) and the treadmills were always broken and the bikes they had were not the best (horrible actually). This is when I began to miss my spin bike and decided to take a chance an order it from amazon since it would be delivered to me for free! I wanted to order a different brand but I decided to stick with what I new and it was this particular bike. Well I ordered it on a Sunday and I had it by Thursday and the box arrived up the stairs to my home in tact. It took exactly 25 minutes to put it together. the parts were all attached properly with no hassle of reading directions! Although this bike is the same as the one I had sold back for some reason it rides better, the seat feels better as well the seat height adjustment for my legs feel better. I am very pleased and would recommend this bike for beginner spinners. I get a great sweat workout on it and prefer it over a regular excercise bike. After I workout on this bike I then take a walk/job on a hiking trail. The Spin bike helps with my knees also.

Stamina 9200 CPS Above Average, February 9, 2009
By Renato (Orange Park, FL USA)

I only have a couple of negative comments on this equipment. In general it is a sturdy cycle and quite compact for a small house; however for a tall and older person it is quite unconfortable since the handle bars are too low even at the max height. I wish it came with a heart monitor already mounted.

GREAT BIKE FOR THE PRICE!, March 12, 2009
By JuanaKutch (USA)

My husband got this bike for my Birthday. I love it!! The bike comes with the tools and I assembled it by myself. It's a very sturdy bike, but easy to move because it has wheels. Besides it looks very nice and it's pretty quiet. Now I can have my workout without depending on the Gym's schedule.

meah...., March 28, 2011

This bike is really cheap, hence the price. After less than a month of use the petal has already come out of the crank and stripped the threads out. Now just to use the bike, I need have it re-tapped. The Clips that hold your foot in place ripped out my first time on the bike! I would NOT suggest buying this bike. If there are most expensive bikes it may be worth paying the extra to get a bike you can actually use.

Solid well-designed stationary bike, December 17, 2009
By Ronald T. Kallies (Milwaukee, WI)

This bike meets all of my needs. It is easily adjustable and has a fairly comfortable seat. The one thing it could still use would be some kind of a recording device to keep track of mileage, calories, etc.

Great Winter Trainer, February 11, 2011
By Dave (So Cal)
|
|
This is a great way to stay in shape during the winter. I was lucky enough to pick this up during a Gold Box sale and scored it for $249. It's a great value at that price.
This bike is very similar to a spinning trainer at the gym, but not quite as heavy duty. The gym bikes are built more sturdy to take the abuse of hours of use every day of the week. Your own bike doesn't need the same sturdiness.
I love the fact that it doesn't take up as much floor space as a wind trainer.
To me the best aspects of a home spinning bike are a high-quality flywheel and an easily adjustable seat.
The flywheel on the bike is very well built and gives a great, steady, 360° rotation.
The seat also adjusts very quickly through a wide range of positions (up/down & front/back). This is great if more than one person in your household uses it. My son and I are different sized guys, so it's important to quickly adjust the seat.
My only minor gripe is that the wheels on the front stand are very small and high off the ground, so it's not all that easy to move. That's a small complaint though.

Very pretty bike and easy to assemble but.., July 7, 2010
By Anita (Bossier City, LA)

This cycling bike had some good reviews on Amazon.com so I decided to try it. Great shipping with Amazon Prime and fantastically easy to assemble when it arrived. Rode for a day but could not overcome the uneasy feeling of the handle bars being loose and shakey. I shimmed them with paper by day two and even then there was movement. I also noticed that the seat rocked when seated. So at a standing pedal the handle bar issue irked me and made me feel unsteady on the bike and when seated the seat rocked, not a comfortable set of circumstances for me. I hated to return this bike because it had so many nice features but ultimately I needed a bike that made me feel rock solid, without wobbling and rocking back and forth. Amazon handled my return, so far, in a efficient way. I just watched the UPS driver pick up the bike for return, very easy and not stressful on my part. Am now in search of another bike.

great bike but..., December 25, 2009
By CG (Southern CA)

I love pedaling on this bike but it's hard to find an in between in the levels when you turn the knob. It seems to go either easy or hard for resistance. Also when we first started using it and put more resistance on there was a burning smell.

NOISY AND BENT, March 6, 2012
By MelodyMaker67
|
|
This bike was such a disappointment to me. The mechanisms on the bike were VERY noisy and one part of it was bent. The water bottle was TRASH! I was excited to get the bike, but it was not a good buy for me. To boot, they charged me to send it back!! Sent it back and got a Nordic Track for close to the same price. It would have been great without the noise as I can get past the cheap water bottle. Be mindful that if you purchase this bike, you may have to return it. I guess that is with anything you buy via the internet! URGH!! :0)

Invest in a gel seat!!!!!, March 8, 2012
By A. Green (Fulshear, Texas United States)
|
|
The seat on this thing is very hard, leaning forward to use the handlebars made it especially uncomfortable, I definitely recommend a gel seat. Other than the seat, there is nothing wrong with the bike. It is very compact but sturdy, there are wheels on the front floor bar, so when you're done you can just tilt the bike forward by grabbing the bike by the seat post and roll it over to a wall to get it out of the way. The resistance range is great, you can go from no resistance at all to having the wheel practically locked down. The higher the resistance, the noisier the bike gets since theres a piece of felt-like material rubbing against the wheel. The seat heighth goes all the way to 15, I'm 5'5 and I use the 5 setting. Assembling this thing was a breeze, took me maybe 15 minutes to put it together, and I'm no mechanical genius. If your looking for gym bike quality, this isn't it, but for $300 you can't complain. As for the cheap squirt bottle, an ozarka bottle fits and does the job just as well.
