Great bag!, August 29, 2009
By Harry Potter (San Francisco, CA)

Great bag and well worth the money! I've always wanted a Camelbak but ended up buying other cheaper ones in the past. BAD mistake! Camelbaks may be expensive like this one but they're tough as hell, provide generous amounts of space and pockets and are made by designers who pay a lot of attention to the quality of the materials as well as design. I use my mule all the time for biking and it works great; I put a spare tube, tire levers, pocket knife, wallet, multi-tool, keys, and two bike lights easily into the small front zippered pocket. I really love the 4 Velcro straps because they really help with cinching down the whole pack or I can stuff large items in it like a towel if I go swimming. The cinch straps stay secure and don't wiggle loose. The main compartment is also nice and long and provides plenty of space for a portable tire pump plus other items. I personally carry a topeak mountain morph which is fairly long as far as portable pumps go and it fits inside just fine. This new NVIS thingy actaully works and is great for bicylists. I can actually feel cool air running down my back as I ride. A super nice change from super sweaty back! Bottom line: if you bike and need a great quality medium sized pack this is exactly what you're looking for.

Great hydration pack, August 10, 2009
By Dominick M. Diomede (Midwest)
|
|
Just purchased this pack and broke it in on a 50 mile mountain bike excursion.
What I like about it. Keeps whatever you fill it up with cold. Adding ice helps as well. It felt near 100 degrees on my ride and once I had exhausted my two water bottles and started drinking from the pack it was still cold. Simply amazing. The ventilated back portion doesnt really work all that well but I sweat a lot so I cant complain. You can feel the air going between your back and the pack, so it does work, just not that well. Once you have filled the resevoir with fluid you really cant fit all that much in the pack. I got my IPOD, wallet, cell, couple of protein bars, electrolyte gels, keys, a couple of small tools and an extra shirt.
In my opinion you really cant go wrong with this pack.

Awesome pack just got better!, June 22, 2009
By Chunkee (Clinton, TN United States)

Very comfortable, good access, plenty of space and hydration capability. Only thing I would recommend, include the cleaning kit with the purchase. These are specific pieces of equipment that require care, include the care items for it.
Use it for anything outside...I use mine when I am out working in the yard a long time in the summer...keeps the bugs and other items out of my drinking water.!!!!

Awesome, June 8, 2009

I am a cubmaster and was looking for a hydration pack with just enough space for a good size first aid kit and as much water capacity as possible that would not make my back hot. The suspension and cooling system in this pack is excellent. I am 5' 8" and about 190 lbs and this pack fit perfectly first time on. The first aid kit goes into a large zippered pocket which leaves an expandable open pocket on the outside of the pack for a handbood or other stuff. There are small pockets for wallet, blackberry, GPS etc.

This thing is awesome!! It hold enough water for a serious run at the Mountain bike Park and you dont have to stop for anything. It has a ton pockets to hold back up bottles if your going riding all day, You can also cplip anything to it. The best thing about the N.V is that it keeps your back dry!! Definatly recommend one to anyone that is into spors of anykind.

Great Product, October 29, 2009
By AZ Wally (Phoenix AZ USA)

This is a great product for bicycling. Every aspect of it works just as represented, maybe better than I expected. Water left in it for days still tastes like plain water. The mesh system for creating an air space between your back and the pack works - there's definitely some airflow there. When I first got it, I thought I wanted a bit more "pack" space, but have since changed my mind. 100 oz of water is plenty of weight to start with. A lot more "stuff" back there than that would not be fun. I highly recommend this product.

Great Pack, August 4, 2009
By TJ Holdemup

This is my first hydration system and I use it all the time. I use for a road bike and it carries all my tools, towels, pumps, but also netbook, bike lock, shoes. Its very versatile because you can cinch it down when you don't have a lot of stuff. My back still gets sweaty but you can feel the air flowing helping you to stay cool.

Great hydration pack, August 3, 2009
By Daniel R. Baumbach
|
|
This is my first hydration pack and I really like it. The water bladder is very large and I havent found myself running out of water yet. The construction of the pack is superb. I was very impressed at the quality of the zippers and all of the details included on this pack. The storage is not very generous, but you can fit the basics in there. I use it for biking and I can fit my workout clothes and a pair of shoes in there with the bladder full. The straps are very comfortable and the way it carries on your back makes it seem very light. Very happy with this pack.

Multi functional, high quality bag~~, March 11, 2010
By Chi Young Song
|
|
I'm very satisfied this bag. This bag have many functions for cyclist.
prop.
1) Amount of water jacket. It's convinent to drink and to wash mouth without stop.
2) Water-prof small pocket for mp3 player. It's usful, But I just use only one ear phone during the riding. You have to keep another ear for hearing environmental circumstance.
3) Small pocket for small repair multi-tools, wallet and car keys
4) Large pocket for bigger tools (hand pump, spare tire, etc.)
I used this pocket for extra jacket.
5) In the bottom of bag, there is a zipper. If you open this, you can see a EXTRA BAG
for covering all of the bag. You can protect your bag from rain or mud. It's very fantastic.
6) Two belt system assist fix well on your body to bag.
con.
Only thing, before drinking water, you have to linse. Actually, it seems common problem.
But, it seems to be better if it is covered special cap.
I recommend this~~

Destroyed my shirt, August 6, 2009
By Jim (San Francisco)
|
|
Works great, but then I looked at a shirt that I had worn during a 10 mile hike (after I washed it). The part of the pack that touches your back is made up of 5 light colored pads that have a kind of (abrasive) netting that is all about keeping moisture off your back. That's great, but I now have 2 circular worn lightish spots on the top-back of my shirt and one wide one at the bottom-back. I'm not sure if the lighter color is caused from the bleeding of the die of the material or not, but the worn areas are there and it's from this pack. I have an older smaller pack that does not have this abrasive material.

Like It, December 9, 2009
By Shawn C. Noland
|

I take it to work every day. It Holds enough food for me but when the bladder is full it's a tight squeeze in the main compartment. I'm not complaining, it has more than enough space for my needs. Air flow is as advertised. I like the small pocket on the top which is big enoug for my wallet, cell phone, and keys which keeps me from rummaging around one of the other compartments. I highly recommend it.

Awsome pack for mountain biking, September 12, 2010
By Eric Tibone (Orange County, CA)
|
|
I really like this hydration pack, its great for mountain biking. It has plenty of space to carry tubes/tools food or pads. The straps are extremely comfortable and keep the bag stable while riding aggressively. The NV air thing in the back is sweet also, its a semi rigid rubber/foam frame which keeps the pack off your back so air can flow through(it is also removable). Its great if you live in a hot area like so cal but if its cold where you live I would just get the regular version. The only thing I think I would change on this bag is maybe the rear flap/sleeve where you can put a coat/sweater or pads. The sleeve has material on the sides which makes it so you can only load it from the top, It would be nice if there were straps in place of the material so you could fit an extra full face helmet in the back if you like all mountain riding and use two helmets. Overall though this is my favorite hydration pack, best versatility for the size with great hot weather features.

The perfect size., May 27, 2010
By Eric (Madison, WI)
|
|
As you know there are a ton of different sizes of these packs and I was a little concerned about chosing the right one for me. The MULE with NVIS has enough space for tools, food, and an extra layer of clothing without being too large. So far it has been working great and I would buy the same one again.

difficult to pack, November 3, 2009

Because of the rigid back it is very difficult to put large items into the main compartment. It will not hold as much as the MULE pack.

This is a great pack. I use it for mountain biking and snowboarding. I can easily fit my wind breaker in the medium sized pocket and then make it even smaller using the compresion straps. The only bumber is there is not a pocket for an ipod with a hole for the the head phones.I just realized that there is a rain cover that is attached in the pocket so you just pull it over the pack. I'm a 12 year old kid so a 100-ounce bladder is plenty of water for a long mountain bike ride or a day of snowboarding. Some times I get mud up the back of it and I just get a wet rag and wipe it of then dry it.

Great backpack for outdoors, August 10, 2011
By Christian (St. Louis, Macau)
|
|
I got this bag for some mountain biking I was doing. It holds a large amount of water and has a terrific amount of storage space with lots of little pockets (I especially love the MP3 pouch that I can fit my iPod Shuffle into). It also is very comfortable during long durations. It's not big enough for camping but for a few hours of hiking or biking this bag is great!

A Good Mountain Biking Backpack, July 13, 2011

It works well, and can handle a lot of abuse. I use when I go mountain biking, and it holds up to the quality one would expect from Camelbak.

size was just right., February 20, 2011
By Kristin J. Burin

|
the size of this tough pack is just right for carrying enough water, snacks, and the ten essential for a full days hiking or biking adventure. Camelbak's experience with making hydrations systems shows. Everything is tough and well placed. My only complaints are the same everyone has in that its necessary to remove the bladder to fill it then you have to wrestle it back in. If there were an easier way to do that I'd be happier but when it comes to hydration systems I don't think that particular problems been truly solved yet.

Great Day Pack, November 1, 2010
By Earle (United States)
|
|
I use this product for mountain biking. The main attraction was the ventilated back; I was tired of hot, sweaty back. This new system works better than expected; even on hot days there is enough ventilation to be comfortable.
The fit is much better than previous products; the pack rides well while slamming over rocks and drops. The waist belt is removable; I found it was not needed. Good strap fit.
Bonus rain cover zips out of the bottom. While the zippers are of the water resistant type, in a downpour it's nice to keep the phone and wallet dry
Enough room for a light jacket, tools, hat. Get's a little sung when all 100oz of water is loaded, but that goes away once some of the water is drunk down. Nice 'stuff' pocket for quick access.

LOVE it, December 30, 2011
By Kelsey (Phoenix, AZ)

|
I have been using this pack for the past year on a regular basis. I love it. It's the perfect size for me. I've never ran out of water, even on 6 hour long hikes. It has plenty of compartment space for me to store my first aid kit, knife, flash lights, phone, wallet, keys, snack bars, and a small lunch. I love this Camelbak and couldn't be more satisfied with it. Love the MP3 pocket and different compartments. The reservoir has also not had any problems in the year that I've owned it. I would highly recommend this pack.
