5.0 out of 5 stars.  Best I've ever used, September 28, 2009
By Brian J. Binder (WI)
I can't say enough about this bottle, but I'll try and stay somewhat brief...

Went and purchased this at an REI store and not through Amazon. I see Amazon has it listed as .75 Liter but mine is a .5 Liter bottle, for what it's worth.

I got sick of using plastic bottles and having them around with me in the car - just not convenient. Plus, I usually do a ton of talking during my 1 hour+ commutes from site to site and well, plastic water bottles just make my water get lukewarm pretty quickly. Not much for carrying coolers around either...

The construction is quite impressive to me. I was worrying about paying 30 dollars for this and being disappointed, but I'm perfectly happy with it. The stainless steel body is obviously a little bit heavy, and I don't mind that at all - feels nice and solid in my hand. There is absolutely no condensation, period. I put ice cubes in this with water and after 10 hours, my ice cubes are still in there and the water is ultra-cold.

The top bite valve was a new experience for me and I find it very unique and has a nice cool-factor. I thought my tongue would get pinched in it or something but it never has - not once. It also keeps things out of the straw area so you could simply wipe off the outside of it if you had to and not worry about anything going down the straw itself.

I even keep it at the bed at night because I hate getting up to get a glass of cold water if I'm thirsty at night. I used to have a plastic bottle for this purpose and the ice would always melt quickly and then the water would be warm by the time I woke up to drink it. With this, the water always stays cold whenever I'm thirsty.

I leave it in my car, laying down on the seat or in my cup-holder. It never leaks a drip, period; even if I store it upside down on a passenger seat.

I was deciding between one of these versus a SIGG or Klean Kanteen and I got to compare the KK and Camelbak side-by-side at REI. I was simply impressed with this over the KK. The KK's likely are nice, but I was already annoyed about the twist-tops that squeal any time you open or close them. Not like it's a deal-breaker, but ths tops of the Camelbak are a nice plastic that doesn't leak or squeak.

The finger-holder on the top of the flip-spout section is great too, but it is a little bit of weight on a single finger if your hands aren't used to it. I'd buy another one of these without thinking twice.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect in practically every way, September 3, 2009
By Rellorba (Catonsville, MD)
I love the straw and I love that it flips down. It stays out of sight of my two sons grubby hands. I love the loop at the top so that I can grab it quickly. I love that you have to bite the straw to get the water out because that will keep my one year old out of it for at least a little while. My 2 year old figured out how to do it in a day. It's well made and sturdy. I wish the neck of the bottle was a little wider because it makes pouring water or putting ice in it just a little harder. I bought the insulating sleeve and can't imagine this bottle without it. It cuts down on all the condensation, keeps my drinks colder for longer and has a strap on it that lets me hook the drink to my purse when I have no hands free. I recommend the insulating sleeve just as much as I recommend the bottle! I am very happy with this bottle!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great -unless condensation or "seeing" your water level are important, April 21, 2010
By R. Mimbs
If you've never tried a Camelbak, then you must. You'll drink more water and actually enjoy doing so.

Bought this to replace my pre-2008 Camelbak (they didn't go BPA free until then). I imagine the stainless steel will hold up to drops on concrete and asphalt better. My girlfriend prefers the plastic model because she can see the water level. I get by fine just shaking it and "feeling" how full it is, but something to consider. Also, I own both kinds and the metal one does form more condensation. Again, not exactly a big deal but a potential buyer might want to know.

You can put your finger through the little hole at top when you are walking. My girlfriend uses a carabiner to hook it onto her laptop bag when she goes to work.

One potential drawback. This thing doesn't fit fully down inside my Mazda 3 cup holder. I own both this size and the smaller one that does fit, but I prefer this one. Camelbaks don't spill if they tip over and I'd rather carry more water.

Oh, and about the company. I once developed a tear in my Camelbak hydration pack (different product). The company replaced it with one phone call and no hassle.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Finally they made a non-plastic bottle, July 4, 2009
By Wildwest
I have always liked this design, but had to toss out all my old ones due to the BPA. Very happy they brought back this design in BPA Free plastic and stainless steel. I prefer the stainless steel; this is a good design b/c I can get ice cubes in it without any problems and it is easy to drink from on the go.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  If only for the environment...., June 12, 2009
By isisiciana (Langley, VA)
I have had my bottle for a week now and I am not really impressed. I really don't think it is double insulated. It does condensate alot and gets your bag or table wet. It does'nt come with a strap so I had to carry it in my bag. The metal is already getting scratched up but the design has held on so far. I must say it is cute. I would only buy this if I wanted people to know I was an enviromentalist, because as far as athletics go, it has'nt held up very well. I went on a 5 mile walk this morning and by the end of the walk my water was warm. I guess I will have to add alot more ice next time.
Update: I had to return the bottle it started rusting inside. Oh well.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Looks AWESOME, but I have issues, March 12, 2011
By Elessar (Jefferson City, Missouri United States)
Let me just say first that I'm a big fan of Camelbak products - usually they're function FIRST, form second. I am not sure I can say that of this latest generation of water bottles.

They're quite sharp and the "HYDRATE OR DIE" logo is especially striking. But I have some issues with construction.

I suppose you can't expect a water bottle to be indestructible, but the problem with stainless steel is it makes you think something IS indestructible so when it's NOT you're very disappointed. I dropped one of these in the gym bathroom with somewhere around 14 oz water in it and it put a pretty sizable dent in the bottom corner. I was so frustrated with myself I ordered a new one.

That's understandable, it can't exactly be reinforced with concrete filler, but it's hefty look and feel is somewhat misleading.

My second and primary beef with this water bottle is that it LEAKS. It doesn't lean out of that famous Camelbak leak proof nipple - it leaks at the seam of the lid and the bottle. I've got a tiger man grip, but you gotta work this thing down like a wench, like you're trying to strip the threads off a 3/4" pipe, in order to be able to set it down and not have it leak out. Since I take these to the gym constantly, I'm laying them down in the seat because my cup holders aren't big enough. I pick it up and there's a big wet spot in the upholstery where some of the water leaked out, and very annoying to clean if there's gatorade mixed in. Imagine coffee or tea!

I know Camelbak's known for water bottles and such but they need to figure out what the problem is here. It happens on both of them so I know it's a design flaw, not just a fluke. I do have one last bone to pick before I start talking about what I like about them: they're STUPID expensive. $22-$30 for a water bottle!? Make sure you don't lose it - trust me, you're pissed. I lost one last semester.

If you don't plan on laying it on its side, let me say a few things about what I do love about these:

1. The carry toggle/loop - never breaks, never deforms, easy to use
2. The nipple - seems to last forever and never corrodes or tastes funny (have used OJ, cranberry juice, gatorade, water)
3. The SS surface is pretty nonslip, so you don't have to carry it by the toggle on top.
4. Carries a lot!
5. Looks friggin boss

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Not what I expected, March 3, 2010
By JD (Lewisville, TX United States)
I made the mistake of not ordering the insulated bottle (.5 liter) and got the .75-liter stainless steel bottle. While I was very happy that it didn't have that funny aftertaste that other metal bottles have, and that it's very durable, after spending over $30 for the bottle and tote, I would have expected it to keep my water cold longer than just 2-3 hours! The "insulated" (I use the term loosely) tote is a joke--it's more for asthetics than for insulation. That was the entire purpose of purchasing this thing. So, now, I have to decide if I want to invest yet another $20+ for the insulated bottle. Disappointed in myself for ordering the wrong thing, and disappointed that this expensive bottle doesn't perform better.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Camelbak .75 liter, March 16, 2010
By EcoMamaB (California, USA)
This is only my second stainless steel water bottle but I love it. My first one was only 16 ounces and had a sport top that leaked out its vent hole, and it would sweat like crazy. I've had the Camelbak one for two days now and haven't found a thing to complain about. Amazon sent me the wrong one- I wanted a plain stainless steel but got the one with the green instead- but it works great, doesn't sweat, and the bite valve is easier to use than I expected. The ONLY downside is it won't fit in a standard cupholder, but that's not a problem in the car, since it doesn't leak no matter how it falls over or gets shaken around.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Crisp Taste - Perfect, December 29, 2009
By Bennett Matthew (Philly)
I was a previous user of the Nalgene type plastic water bottles. I was looking at a bunch of different stainless steel bottle's and finally had it narrowed down to this one and the Klean Kanteen. The .75 liter Kanteen bottle was too tall, this one had the perfect size. I was skeptical in the beginning at the bite valve for drinking but now I love it. Keep in mind that unlike the Klean Kanteen this bottle cannot be heated up, incase you want to carry some hot water with you. I bought this just to use in my office for cold water with ice, so that wasn't an issue for me.
The bottle by itself does sweat when you have ice cold water. I was debating whether to get the insulated botle which holds only .5 liters but I like having the extra amount of water and instead opted to get the insulator cover for it. With the cover this bottle does an awesome job keeping the water cold for several hours and the cover takes care of the sweat problem.
Water tastes very clean and crisp and I'm very glad I purchased this. If you are planning on using this bottle for ice cold water then I would recommend purchasing the Camelbak insulator cover for it as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  perfect size, and it even works, September 8, 2009
By Spire (fargo, nd)
My Wife purchased this bottle for use around the house, at the gym, and on hikes. it works great - the volume of the container is the right amount, the bitevalve works great without any spills when the bottle is inverted, the bottle is stainless steel, so there's little plastic in constant contact with the water, and the art on it looks stylish. it took her some getting used to however - the internal straw makes it so you hold the bottle like a cup (no tilting) and after you take a drink, you need to bite the valve and allow gravity to pull the water in the bite tube down into the container, otherise, when you fold the bite valve toward the clip, the water that was in the bite tube will leak onto the cap. also, this bottle is not insulated.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Doesn't alter taste of water, good seal, durable; doesn't keep water cold, May 26, 2010
By skacleve (Ohio)
I've taken this bottle on only a couple of trips this year, so I can only speak about its performance in the short term. The seal on the cap was good, allowing no leaks, and the bite valve worked well. This bottle is a little bigger than I expected, which is fine if you need a lot of fluids. I would have preferred something a bit less bulky, but this model wasn't available any smaller. It doesn't fit in all bottle cages on bikes, either. At 8 oz., the non-insulated bottle is a bit over half the weight of the insulated one, and the non-insulated bottle is about $5 cheaper, so I went with this one.

But if you like cold fluids, get the insulated version. Even the CamelBak 0.75 Liter Insulated Bottle Carrier you can wrap around it won't keep the contents cold for long, although it does make it easier to hold the bottle when the contents are very cold. I found out it's a bad idea to freeze the bottle filled with water, because the straw and the water in it freeze into one big ice cube, making the straw non-functional for hours until all the ice melts. You can't freeze the water all the way without the straw in it, because the straw cannot be inserted once the water is frozen. It's better to drop in ice cubes, or get the insulated version of the bottle. Users liked the wider mouth of this bottle compared to others to fit ice cubes through easily, but mentioned the insulated one doesn't fit in most car cup holders (no big deal). This bottle holds a lot of liquid, so it can be heavy when full. Because of the weight, it's uncomfortable to carry it on your hip with the Insulated Carrier. I recommend getting a strap to carry the bottle on your shoulder instead, unless you're carrying it on or in a backpack. I'm sure I'll get a lot of use from it.

I read reviews about other SS bottles that gave off a metallic taste, but this one didn't at all. I've found that almost all of the SS bottles rated highly are made with food-grade steel, but the CamelBak Better Bottle is the only one I saw made with surgical steel. The food-grade metal may account for the metallic taste reviewers reported with most bottles, and CB reviewers reported no such problem. The Klean Kanteen description mentions there is a low nickel content, but it may be enough to cause a metal leaching concern at most, or a bad taste at least.

I also learned that all or most of these bottles are made in China, including ThinkSport and Klean Kanteen, which makes me question how safe some are. The Eco Usable bottle filter is made in the US, but the bottle itself is made in China. The Sigg bottles are Swiss, but they have epoxy liners that may leach BPA. I actually could not find definitive info about the manufacturing of CB bottles, but I did read somewhere that major components of their products are made in the US. Interestingly, CB responded to my inquiry about this as follows: "Thank you for contacting CamelBak. Our water bottles are produced in China . However, our manufacturing partner in China was selected after an extensive vendor screening process. We have conducted multiple fair labor audits of this facility and all have passed. No child labor is employed in this facility. Tests are preformed to include the evaluation against a long list of known toxins and carcinogens. All our products have passed the testing. We are constantly monitoring product quality coming out of this facility; we have worked with this partner for several years and have a trust based on their continued good performance against our quality standards." I thought it was great of them to answer.

After weighing all the pros and cons, I decided to go with CamelBak, even though it costs more at $18-$23. Maybe you get what you pay for here. The CB website offers helpful info at their FAQ link. The website Go Green Travel Green rates their bottles highly, and they like the straw feature (it won their "Smackdown" comparison of SS bottles; they disqualified the Sigg bottle because it's actually made of aluminum). I also liked not having to tip the bottle in order to drink from it. You can order a standard CamelBak Classic Bottle Cap for these bottles for $5 if you prefer.

Let me know if and how this helps you.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  great bottle as expected, November 6, 2009
By Mark (Peoria, IL USA)
I've owned a camelbak bottle before except it was plastic. I decided to get a new one after I found mold growing underneath my bitevalve. I figured I would clean my new one more. I bought this stainless steel one because I thought it was insulated; however, upon further research the .75 liter is NOT insulated...only the .5L is. so I guess I was kind of disappointed about that. The stainless steel is much colder to the touch than the plastic one. Might be me, but I feel like it also sweats more. I'm going to buy an insulated cover and see if that helps. The stainless steel looks sleek and nice, but I've only had it for a couple days and i'm sure it will be scratched up in no time.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Makes it hard to drink, May 31, 2011
By __LP__ (Seattle, WA)
I was looking for a good water bottle that could always be with me during the day, every day, at a the gym or at work. This one seemed like a good choice. I was disappointed for the following reasons:
* The whole bite valve thing bites. The flow of water is lame, and you have to suck the hell out of it no matter how lightly or hard you bite down, and no matter what angle you use. It seems like they designed this thing to make it hard to drink.
* They didn't quite get a completely leak-free design either. If you turn the bottle upside down you can still get it to leak, making the entire thing pointless.
* The bottle dents very easily; if you buy the stainless steal version for the cool look, think again. It will look nice until you hit anything with it. It doesn't take much at all to put a big ugly dent.
* The bite valve thing has a slight rubbery taste to it, which I'd prefer it wasn't there. I bought something stainless steal to avoid plastics leaching in my water, but then I get it from the valve....!
* The bottle is NOT insulated at all. To be fair it is NOT advertised that way, so I guess I should not expect it, but it is shocking how little it insulates. As you pour cold water in it you can tell immediately where the water level is just feeling the temperature outside of the bottle. The metal is very, very thin.
Overall disappointed. At that price point I expected much better.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  It sweats!, December 21, 2009
By AccuConference (Fort Worth, TX USA)
We thought this was the double walled Camelbak that doesn't sweat. It sweats. We bought one version of a camelbak that has a camelbak logo in light black that doesn't sweat. Still a good bottle but would be a five star if it didn't sweat.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not Pleased, November 8, 2009
By D. Blair (St Petersburg, FL)
I thought this bottle looked nice & did not seem to leak, but that was about it for the positives.

First, I found the bottle hard to drink from. I realized it came with a unique "Big Bite Valve" and there would be some sucking involved, but it was more like sucking a frozen milkshake than water through a straw. For me this got annoying rather quickly.

I also was not happy with the insulation and am skeptical if it is really vacuum-sealed or double-walled as their site suggests. It sure seemed like a lightweight thin single-walled steel bottle to me but it most definately didn't keep my water cold for 10-12 hours as their site claims. I would say my water was merely cool after an hour and room tempreature by two.

Finally, I would have to say I think Camelbak is overpriced. There are a lot of other good quality bottles available for $10-15 or less. It seems they are charging at least an extra $10 for their patented little valve. If you're after leak-proof, enjoy the constant sucking & don't mind paying extra, then hey this might be for you! Otherwise, I would look at one of the bigger, cheaper, and/or better-insulated bottles out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Not completely leach free, October 13, 2011
By javafuel (Los Angeles, CA United States)
The straw is made of polyethylene, the same material used in milk jugs. So it leaches a little. Also the cow magnet barely stick to the bottle...the stainless steel seems to be 18/0, instead 18/8 which used by high end cookware. I'm not sure about what kind of stainless steel this one is.

If you want to use it for ice cold water, then get the isolation sleeve for this bottle. Otherwise, it would be too cold to hold it with bare hand for long.

Lastly, bite valve gets mold pretty easily if liquid stays in there for long period of time, and replacement is expensive. Pull the bite valve out for cleaning and air dry it.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  a lot of these reviews suck, July 6, 2011
By laurasmith (nyc)
This is exactly what the description says. A stainless steel bottle with .75 liter capabilities. NOWHERE in the description does it say that it is double walled or insulated. It's really annoying and stupid for so many people to be giving the item low ratings just because they didn't read and thought they were buying the insulated double walled version. I happen to have both versions myself. I use this version with a sleeve when I'm traveling outside because it carries more liquid. The double walled version keeps drinks colder longer and doesn't sweat, but it carries less liquid (only .50 liter) so I used it indoors since I have to refill it more often. You can't give a product a low rating just because you didn't read the description before buying. If you want the insulated version they have that on amazon too.

This is an excellent bottle. If you're new to camelbak use here is a few things you should know.

1- You can and should remove the straw and silicone bite valve for easy cleaning. A sports straw straw comes in handy for cleaning the inside of the straw regularly too if you want to. I don't use any soap to clean the bottles just white vinegar and I never get any mold build up in the years I've been using camelbak.

2- When you first start using the bottle you may find the valve a little tough to bite on. It gets softer with use. Just give it a couple of weeks.

3- Unfortunately all camelbaks including the stainless steel versions come with plastic straws on the inside. It IS bpa free plastic, but if you want a no-plastic option this is not for you.

4- Unfortunately camelbak does not have a glass version. Only plastic versions and stainless steel versions. Water tastes so much better out of glass. I have a glass water bottle that fits my camelbak screw on top and I use this self made glass camelbak for home use for the best tasting water, while using the stainless steel versions for whenever I leave the house for safe travel. The plastic camelbaks so far tend to be better at never leaking. The .75 stainless steel one I have leaks only a few drops from the lid and then stops so it's no big deal for me. The plastic camelbaks are 100% leakproof but they're also icky plastic that makes water taste plasticy. Personally I'd rather have something that's 98-99% leakproof and stainless steel and leaks a few drops than the former.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Had this bottle for a year....still going strong., August 20, 2010
By LL Cool Jack
I've owned 2 CamelBak stainless bottles for over a year. Water bottles are an absolute must in the hot desert of AZ and we use ours every day.
- Keeping the water cool: Today it was 106'F. I filled a bottle 3/4 full of ice, added water and it stayed cold for hours.
- Wide mouth - When unscrewed, the mouth is wide enough to fit ice or to quench my thirst when I want a lot of water all at once.
- The bite valve is handy. I can take a drink when doing other things, such as driving, which I would never do with a twist off cap. I can keep it at my desk
without worrying about a spill.
- Condensation does occur. ALL water bottles, especially metal ones, generate water condensation. This one is no exception. I pop mine into an open gallon
plastic bag when I put it in my purse.
- Leaking is no fun. The bottles have been known to leak if left on it's side. I countered this by placing a rubber band on the bottom thread part of the
bottle. When I put my cap on it tightens into the band creating a truly waterproof seal. To some that might seem annoying but I don't mind. Our Nalgene
bottles came with a blue, rubber seal to do the same thing - make it leak free. That's where I got the idea.
- Handles the dishwasher great. I disassemble the lid and toss all the parts and bottle in the dishwasher.
- There is no metallic taste, even after the water sits for a day. The first few months the water would taste a little "plastic-y" from the straw but I
haven't had that problem in quite a while. Maybe the straw needed to be washed several times? I have heard you can get stainless straws, but I haven't
looked into that.
- Holds up to abuse beautifully. We have bumped, dropped and banged these bottles. The decorative paint is still new looking and there are no dents. My
friend's Klean Kanteens are a mess with dents and peeling paint.

Overall, I really like this bottle. It does the job and I would buy another one.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Almost Perfect water bottle, May 19, 2011
By Loving life as a Mom (Fresh Meadows, NY)
I purchased this water bottle after having gotten one for my son with dinosaurs on them (for kids specifically). He loves the bottles and I find it is so much easier for him to get liquid out of it then most other sippy cups. Especially for toddlers over 15months. I'll admit I always find my self over prepared for him, and almost always under prepared for myself. So on more then one occasion I have used his bottle to quench my thirst a little. After realizing I was probably using his bottle more then him. I decided to look into Camelbak, they do alot of different types of bottles and I really like this one, the Dogwood Stainless Steel bottle is just beautiful and the mouth spout is perfect for getting the right amount of liquid to really satisfy my thirst. My only wish is that when you close it, I wish they had another piece that would close down on top of the spout so that if I dropped the bottle, I don't have to worry about having to clean the spout which I put in my mouth to drink. Other then this minor issue, I think this is a great bottle and perfect for the upcomming hot summer walks I plan to take... or so I say.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Terrible!, August 6, 2011
By Baka
Bought this water bottle thinking it was the same one I had received as a gift. It wasn't. This one is not insulated like my other one. It sweats like crazy and does not keep water cold for very long. If you want a good water bottle, be sure to get the insulated one. This one is not worth the cost.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Loses star for plastic straw- loses another for uncertainty of quality of metal, May 6, 2011
By Marv Farmin
BPA-free or not I don't like plastic with my edibles. I thought that this would also have a stainless steel straw because the description says this is good for people who want to avoid plastic, but it has a thick plastic straw. So I contacted a company that makes custom straws and am awaiting a quote - hopefully I'll be able to switch out this plastic one for something better. In reality nothing beats Glass when it comes to having great tasting water, but stainless steal is the next best thing. (In fact, if anyone out there knows of a glass water bottle that will fit the camelback screw-on top- Please let me know.) To me Nothing beats the Camelbak bite valve system for easy, quiet drinking at the office. The bottom of the bottle specifically says "hand wash only"- Now let me tell you why this bothers me. Many people in the USA don't realize that there are different qualities of Stainless Steel Products. 18/10 Stainless Steel is the best quality you can buy. While 18/0 (eighteen-zero) is the worst quality. 18/8 is in between. What's the difference?..
18/10 SS: you can put it in the dishwasher unlimited times with no problem whatsoever. Also NO CHANCE of rust no matter what. It keeps it's shine FOREVER and it's harder and very resistant to damage.

With 18/8: Although not as excellent as 18/10, you can usually put it in the dishwasher without worries of permanent staining or rust.

18/0 quality SS: you can't put it in the dishwasher without risking permanent stains. (however the stains don't really affect the usability of the item). You also can't put any kind of acidic liquids like certain juices and such in it without risking permanent stains. It will also rust eventually if not taken care of so you constantly have to keep an eye in every nook and cranny for rust development. Many companies (especially US companies) have been switching to 18/0 in recent years to increase profits as 18/0 is much cheaper metal combination).

The fact that you are advised NOT to put this in the dishwasher makes me suspect that it's 18/zero quality stainless steel. Which I do not like because if it is I know that after about 18 months or so I will see rust forming on the inside and probably a stronger metalic flavor. Also I just now read a review where someone said they had dropped theirs on the floor once and a large dent resulted... that really shouldn't happen if they're using high quality stainless steel- but I dunno, may his floor was especially hard or something. On their site they only say "medical grade stainless steel" but there are no actual standards set for medical grade SS... so that term could mean anything. Though obviously 18/10 SS can't be beat it is more expensive to buy. And though 18/zero is usually most inexpensive, it's really not worth buying because it has a shorter life, harder to keep clean and eventually tends to develop rust. I'd be willing to settle for 18/8, but if this was 18/8 I don't see why you can't put it in the dishwasher. Some other SS water bottles that clearly state on their websites they are made of 18/8 also state that you can put them in the dishwasher. Well I guess only time will tell whether I'll regret this purchase or not.

I'll also add: I personally have experienced no problems with leakage whatsoever from the crease between the cap and the bottle like others seem to have and I don't even bother twisting the cap that tightly. Maybe they're having a quality control problem with some versions of the bottle? If it helps any, I got the one with green stripes and there's no leakage even when turned on it's side or upside down.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Keeps my drink COLD!, March 10, 2011
By busymom
I bought this bottle on the way to the beach last spring (about a year ago) and tried not to think about how much I paid for it. The first time I used it, I knew it was worth it. If you are someone whom likes to have a cold drink available at all times, this is the bottle for you. I keep it by my bed and when I want a drink at night, it is always cold. I live in the Deep South and would not think of leaving the house in the summer without a large water and this bottle fits the bill perfectly. When I leave my house, I always grab my keys, wallet, sunglasses and this water bottle. Ice does not melt after 12+ hours. Worth every dime. Kudos to Camelbak!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I love this bottle, but...., March 3, 2011
By Beatriz Vences (Las Vegas, NV)
I do love my camelbak. When I had it, it was the best thing since sliced bread.

But then it started leaking, and I cried bloody murder. I wondered if I had broken it, but it was perfectly fine. Eventually I just had to take precautions to make sure there was no water left in the little rubber spout. And just shook the bottle until it stopped leaking before I put it in my purse or anything I wouldn't want it to leak on. To this day, I'm not exactly sure why it started leaking. It did have a little speck of something under the lid where the flexible rubber thing is, but I'm not sure it was entirely that.

When it came out of the 'box,' it worked perfectly and I really fell in love with this bottle. But then I broke it. :'( I am so sad. It really helped me to stay hydrated and kept me from drinking soda, and juice, etc. It did hold up to my abuse very well. I had like some minor bumps but it was still very pretty. I got compliments on my awesome bottle a lot of the time. My bottle had cherry blossoms with a little bird, couldn't find the same one on amazon though. The paint/picture stays on pretty well.

I do caution about the cleaning. Make sure it's ALL cleaned out and rinsed. BUT don't remove the spout. Not the rubber thing, but the actual plastic thing. I can't get mine back on. :'( I'm having one heck of a time trying to find a replacement cap, but alas, nothing. I haven't tried contacting CamelBak, though. I suppose that should be my next course of action. Overall, I really loved this bottle, and would probably invest in another one. I'll just be more careful when I'm cleaning it and not try to get all Bob the Builder on it.

**UPDATE**
I did contact CamelBak and they sent me a replacement cap no questions asked. It was the easiest thing to do ever. I went on the site and found their customer service email, told them it didn't work and they responded asking for my address, I replied and received my cap in about 4-5 days. So AWESOME! I love my bottle! Oh, and no more leaking! It does have some dents and scratches from me dropping it and throwing it in my purse so much, overall the bottle has handled my abuse pretty well and some of the paint from the design is beginning to wear off but I suppose it's to be expected after using it for a whole year.

AND side note: My boyfriend bought the KOR One (He got it on sale.) and he's not using it anymore. I asked him why and he said that it started to smell funny after sometime. Well, because it's plastic! I love that my camelbak keeps my water tasting like water. :D

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Pretty Bottle, Moldy Mouth Piece, February 24, 2011
By Lynne
I carry my bottle with me everywhere in my 10,000 pound purse. And then I carry those little Crystal Light flavor packets to add to the water. Now, in some bizarre combination, this makes the mouth piece of this bottle get moldy. I'd say that mold and fear of potential mold-related disease is my main complaint about this bottle. I too, bought it originally through REI for $25 and have found it WAY cheaper on Amazon. (Amazon, I'm personally sorry for buying something at REI and not through your glorious website. I was foolish, forgive me!!) I've since ordered others of the exact same quality and given them as gifts.

Love the bottle, love the cute blue design on the bottom. I'm happy, mold aside.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bottle!, January 19, 2011
By NiceGuy
After reading the hundreds of near perfect reviews, I had no worries in laying down the cash for this bottle. I've always had cheap water bottles, usually given away as a raffle prize or something...and for years I just used old soda bottles as water bottles. I feel like I'm all growed up now :-D.

The bite valve/straw is awesome, it's made out of some resilient gel/silicone so you don't have to worry about it getting destroyed by your chompers. The stainless steel body is pretty legit looking, feels good in your hand.

For some reason I thought this bottle was double walled/insulated, but it's not. Which is a little bit of a bummer, however, my drink stays cold for longer than it takes to drink it...and that's all you can really ask for. I guess I'll spring for an insulated cover for it..camelbak makes matching ones that fits the bottle: CamelBak 0.75 Liter Insulated Bottle Carrier .

If you're looking for a water bottle for work, biking, hiking, moving, whatever...this is the one to get.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Pretty and Well Made, September 25, 2010
By P. Guo (San Jose, CA USA)
I love the look of the water bottle. It is so pretty. I bought the well print one. Much better looking than just plain stainless. It says "When the well is dry, we know the worth of water". Perfect size. The holder on the cap is convenient. Everything is great except that I do not care about the bite valve that much. It is good that the valve is there so it prevent water spill. But water flow through the valve is too little for my liking, so I always take the valve off when I drink. Then I need to be careful not to lose it. I wish the valve was attached to the bottle by some string, so I do not need to worry about losing it. Still this water bottle is the best around. Highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  The Better Bottle, January 21, 2010
By SuperSal (Sweden)
Keeps drinks super cold. Had read some reviews where people said it keeps hot drinks hot, too, but the instructions say not to do that, so i gave it 4 stars instead of 5. When I'm running or biking in the middle of January, I should be able to drink something warm--a thermos isn't convenient.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Different, eco-friendly, safe, awesome!, November 5, 2009
By J. Hanc (Los Angeles, CA)
I also have a plastic camelbak "better bottle" and I love them both. The stainless steel doesn't change the taste of the water one bit, and this design is really awesome! It's completely spill-proof. It's not insulated, so it doesn't keep liquids cold, but I would say that it does keep them cooler than the plastic one did.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly what I was looking for., October 14, 2009
By K. Doyle (Tulsa, OK)
I carry my own water with me at all times and was looking to upgrade from plastic to stainless steel. This bottle was a little smaller than I wanted but I still love it. The mouth is large enough to add ice cubes with care...some still don't make it in whether you use the frig dispenser or add by hand. The straw will come off sometimes when screwing lid closed but this isn't too much a problem...I just pop it back on. The mouthpiece folds down and is just like the mouthpiece on my CamelBak back pack unit. Water tastes and smells normal. I bought the insulated sleeve to go on it to keep it from sweating everywhere. I highly recommend it if you are using ice cold water. Overall, durable, attractive and innovative. Good purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Mold in Bite Straw, June 22, 2011
By Retail Therapy (Bay Area, CA USA)
I liked this water bottle until I started to notice mold growing in the bite straw. Tried cleaning it out but it's not the easiest thing to clean (you kind of have to use your finger unless you have a brush that small). It has small grooves on the inside that are hard to get to and collects moisture. Even after I cleaned it mold continues to grow. Perhaps it's time to get a replacement straw- but I'd rather have a water bottle I didn't have to get replacement parts for.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good water bottle/good design...not sure if it's still made in USA though, March 15, 2011
By Abby
I bought the Camelbak water bottle because I wanted a Stainless Steel water bottle, made in the USA...too many are made in China, and I won't hide my concerns about that. Well, when I got the package, there was a sticker on the bottle and it appears that CamelBak has a patent pending for China. So I'm not sure if it's made in the USA anymore...in which case $20 is too much to pay for a made in China water bottle (I've seen others for $10-$14). That issue aside, I like the accident-proof design and only wish it were a full liter instead of .75 liter.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Just get the plastic model..., July 27, 2010
By J. Morton (OH)
The only "advantage" this has over the plastic model is that it may be more aesthetically pleasing.

The plastic model is dishwasher safe, insulates a bit better (with less condensation), is see through (water level), and doesn't make as much noise(less "clangy").

Aside from that, the bottle does work great.
I would recommend just getting the plastic one, unless for some strange reason you NEED stainless steel.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Camelbak Better Bottle, .75L, Stainless-Steel, October 24, 2011
By The Pitiless Unique
Durable, with plenty of space to hold enough water to keep me hydrated. Cold water stays cold for a while. I like the carrying ring built into the cap. If I ever need to carry the bottle on a backpack via a carabiner or something, it seems like it'll hold up well.

The cap is completely leak-proof, probably owing to the stainless-steel design, which you can't squeeze. I filled the bottle, turned it upside-down several times, shook the bottle vigorously and no water escaped (from the cap or from the Bite Valve).

Contrary to other reviews, I find that the bottle does not sweat that much. Some sweating will occur with non-insulated and metal bottles, but it was negligible. I tested this with a full bottle containing 5 ice cubes.

The Bite Valve works very well. It locks in water when you're not drinking, and releases with very little 'bite force' when you want to drink. Perhaps it works a bit too well -- because of the vacuum-like seal design, a few drops get locked into the valve mouthpiece itself when you're done drinking, and if you pinch the Bite Valve while it's in its 'up' position or even when you take the cap off to refill the bottle, it can drip a little. The same goes for the straw -- the Bite Valve seems to lock liquid inside it, and it leaks out of its bottom if you pinch the valve while the cap is off and the straw is still connected.

The straw will give and come off if it bumps into only a few ice cubes in the bottle, but it's easy to put back on. You may get your fingertips a little wet fishing for the straw. This doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

One of the things I like the most: water does not taste like plastic when you drink. It doesn't taste like anything. It tastes like water.

I haven't seen any of the Bite Valve/component 'mold' issues that others have written about, though I don't doubt them. The valve seems like it could grow mold quickly, since it's so airtight. I imagine that regular maintenance would solve the problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Another great CamelBak product, August 25, 2011
By S. Carlson (Huntington Beach, CA, USA)
How much can you really say about a water bottle? It's got an attractive stainless steel finish, a convenient straw attachment and it holds an adequate amount of water for moderate length bike rides. If you need it to do much more than that, I think you're out of luck.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good but could be better if...., June 23, 2011
By MJ (Boston, MA)
What I like:

The Dogwood design - very pretty
The size - 0.75L just big enough
The bite valve design - I can drink laying down
The hook - I can carry it with one finger and free up my hand
The stainless steel - keeps water cool for 2-3 hours

What I wish it had:

Insulation - so water can be kept cold longer

What I dislike:

Nothing really - I have a plastic 0.5L Camelbak and kinda knew what to expect

I purchased this product after the top of my plastic Camelbak broke. I really love the design and find that the bottle is the prefect size for me. My only complaint is that the metal is really loud when stuff (like my keys!) clang against it, but that's really not a big deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great water bottle!, July 25, 2011
By CD cover (Portland, OR)
I got one of these for my birthday, and I am SO IMPRESSED by it! Filled it about 1/2 full with ice and then put water in it. Took a road trip, and the temperature was 80+ out, so a lot hotter in the car. There was still ice in it 8 hours later (quite a bit), and although the ice was melted the next morning, the water was still cold! I highly recommend these water bottles, and I'm sure I'll be getting a second one soon.

This is my 4th stainless water bottle in three years. Each of the others had some huge flaw. The first had a screw-top which serves no purpose as far as I can tell. The second had a wonky taste. The third had the "sports top" that was so hard to pull up that I had to use my teeth, and it hurt like the devil.

This bottle is everything I needed. Right size. Right method of delivery. No leaks. Perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  LOVE this Bottle, July 2, 2011
By tiggernpooh
I have gone through a LOT of water bottles. Wet papers in my backpack and more.

This one is awesome! NO leaking with the camelbak bite valve; this one does sweat, but I bought the Camelbak Insulated Bottle Sleeve to go over it. I haven't had any problem with it getting papers wet in my pack or on my desk

It has an easy carry loop--very important with everything I always have in my hands; and easy to clean--this was always a problem with other bottles I bought.

This one isn't insulated, but my water stays cold for 3-4 hours with ice.

I also like the fact that you keep the bottle upright to drink--no tipping back--I choke easily on EVERYTHING--even water, and not having to tip back to drink really helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The water bottle impressed me!, May 30, 2011
By OnlineShopper524 (Chico, CA USA)
I purchased this water bottle for work since I like my water cold but I can't always get to it when it's fresh. The water bottle gets so cold that it feels frozen from the outside. The straw takes a little getting used to since you have to squeeze the silicone with your teeth and then suck to get the water but maybe this is camelbak signature that I was unaware of. The bottle does "sweat" a little when there is really cold ice water in it but not much. Overall I love this water bottle, I don't leave for work without it and I've had dozen of compliments on it. The decorative writing on it adds some character and the bottle and components are built tough.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  not insulated!, May 16, 2011
By udxrott
There is a huge difference between the insulated Camelbaks and this kind. My boyfriend has an insulated one and water will stay cool for HOURS on a hot day. I purchased this one not realizing it wasn't insulated (I wanted one with the cool design) and it sweats like crazy. However, the non insulated type definitely holds more water. I believe you can also purchase an insulating pocket to keep water colder and to hold in the condensation. It's kind of annoying that these bottles don't fit into cup holders in my Honda Pilot, but I love the fact that it's stainless steel and the flip top is so easy to use.

I love this water bottle! Easy to use, the water stays cool longer than other water bottles and the straw system ensures I can take a quick drink and put the bottle down without it spilling. If you are trying to drink more water, get this water bottle. I have found that I easily drink at least two full bottles of water with this water bottle a day. Seriously, get one! :-)

"When the well is dry, we know the worth of water" -Ben Franklin

I didn't know what the one I bought said and couldn't find it anywhere, but there it is! Anyways, quite content with the buy. Had lost my other one that I bought from REI ~9mo ago and wasn't ready to buy another for the full price, so I bought it off Amazon for only $12 instead. Also, went for the cheapest one even though I didn't know what was written on it, but am really happy with it.

Note: the last one I owned kinda leaked from the mouthpiece. The only way to prevent it was to really muscle the mouthpiece down... I loved it too much to care apparently because I came back for another.

CamelBak has had an excellent top for their water bottles. a quick flip and sip system, without having to turn the bottle up. Plastic with or without BPA's has retired CamelBak's water bottles for me. Stainless Steel has returned me to CamelBak as the water bottle of choice. Now, how about a 1 Liter with larger diameter upper and rebated bottom 2-3" the same diameter as the 0.75 L.??

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Water Bottle, January 14, 2011
By Kaitlin (Texas)
I've been using CamelBak bottles for a couple years now. Never had a problem with them. I love the mouth piece on this one - it's easy, keeps the water clean, and I've never had it leak. Also like the stainless version better than the plastic one.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  If I could give 6 stars I would, January 9, 2011
By Amy Vee (Valencia, CA)
I use this every morning for iced coffee then put water in it later in the day. I have a cover that keeps condensation from dripping all over everything so I didn't care about the design. Only once in a while does it leak, I think it's when I have over filled it. I have a large cup holder in my car which fits this perfectly. I absolutely love this bottle and have piece of mind knowing I'm not adding to the landfill with disposable cups and that there aren't any health side effects from stainless steel.

drinking a lot more water now. only down side is, if you're really thirsty, you have to take the top off to drink more water without sipping it through the silicon straw.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  favorite water bottle, September 18, 2010
By J. Catlett (Minnesota, USA)
I like this bottle so much I went out and bought several more just to have enough around.

I don't have to tip the bottle up to take a drink, so its easy to use when driving or biking.

It will leak if set on its side or upside down for long enough, but very slowly.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bottle, July 13, 2010
By happyconsumer
It took me some time to figure out how to split the seam on the top of the bottle when I first purchased it. I didn't realize that it was somewhat sealed when I first tried it out. Once the split was open, then the water came out great! I actually tried to pull the top part off, thinking it was some sort of a cap. I realize once you have this item, you'll know how to operate for future purchases, however, it would be nice to have some sort of description. Also, I'd like a description of how to clean the bottle. It has a straw that detaches, but I don't think the rest comes apart. So the liquid kind-of just sits in the top nozzel?? Haven't had any issues about it yet. Really like the way the top nozzel doesn't leak at all!!!! Bought one for my child too, and they drink just fine from it. My husband wasn't sure about the biting part of it, but I think he is beginning to get the hang of it now! I'd buy another!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Product, April 12, 2010
By Miller
My husband and I both love these so much I ordered us a second set. I always liked the bigger 32oz bottles so was hesitant to purchase the 24oz bottles, but my husband is a fan of CamelBak products so we tried it and I actually drink twice as much with these. He keeps dropping and denting his because it slips when it sweats so I bought us both the CamelBak sleeves which are great. I recommend that product as well, especially with the summer coming up which you can find it through amazon.

I picked this up because I wanted an opaque bpa-free bottle, and I love to form factor of my plastic CamelBak bottle. No complaints no this one. It's light, durable, and the design is neato.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Best Water Bottle Out There!, February 3, 2010
By Janey Wilcox
I drink a lot of water so I figured it was about time to invest in a nice water bottle. I got the Camelbak stainless steel model with the blue wave design on it. I love this water bottle! The design is so pretty and it doesn't rub off. My water stays cold and it never has that awful plastic taste to it. I also like the trademark straw. It snaps down easily and is spill proof. I like that I don't have to twist off a top in order to get to my water. The 0.75 liter bottle fits in any cup holder at my gym or car. Don't look anywhere else. This one is the best!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice looking, but majorly flawed., May 2, 2011
By Snogger_T
I ordered this water bottle after reading the mostly good reviews, but the few negative reviews should of been the ones I paid attention to. Just as those said, the bottle leaks from the cap if not held upright. This kind of defeats the purpose of a water bottle since I could just as easily use a cup with a lid if I wanted a container I could only hold upright. I can't believe any company would charge that much for a water bottle and it have a major flaw such as leaking. I will be returning it and looking else where.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Not suitable for anything other than outdoor sports, November 9, 2010
By Elaine Ross (New York, NY USA)
This bottle starts to leak spontaneously, even when just standing on a flat surface. I was at a meeting and placed the half-filled, tightly capped bottle a few inches away from my papers; at some point it spontaneously leaked copious amounts of water that soaked all my papers within a few seconds; and this was not an isolated incident. It cannot be carried in a bag, because it will form puddles of water on the bottom. It was definitely not worth 3,000+ American Express membership points that I paid for it.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Valve Bites, January 22, 2012
By MC (Missouri)
The bite valve, well, bites. Have owned lots of very good CamelBak products. Perhaps the factors of ease of use and volume of flow of the other CamelBak water container products have spoiled me. Perhaps I will adapt, but biting and sucking a straw with a small and inadequate flow are not my idea of convenience. The bottle keeps water colder, longer, and for that it gets 2 stars, though you are recommended to get and use the insulation sleeve (extra cost). Otherwise it would garner 1 star from me. Keep up your other good work, CamelBak.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  This Rocks!, January 17, 2012
By Amanda H. (San Diego, CA)
I ordered this several months ago to replace my Gaiam water bottle that I accidently left on a plane. I LOVE it. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the bite spout, but it's not a problem at all. I love that it holds a decent amount of water, and I find myself drinking way more every day at work than I did before. I am giving it four stars mainly because I don't like the cleaning process - especially since I'm always a little worried that the bite part will wind up in the garbage disposal and I won't be able to use the bottle anymore. It also leaks slightly in my bag if it's upside down - but honestly it hasn't been a problem. I would definitely recommend this as the best reusable bottle solution.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  True description, January 12, 2012
By YarP
This water bottle is great! I've had it fall over in my bag and no leaks, which was one of the required features I was looking for when I found this item. The only negative is that it isn't insulated. Some reviews said the water bottle was insulated and others said it wasn't; so I took my chances. A few ice cubes along with the hot tea cools the liquid and metal to an acceptable temperature though. Love the design too. There are many designs to choose from. Just make sure the features you want come with your selected design.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  just as usefull as it seemed, January 10, 2012
By jenny
It is a great way to drink safely (no BPA) and healthily as you drink more because it is so easy to us. Sometimes you have to suck up more than others, I don't know why but you always can drink on a stand position as it says on the commercial. I live in a really hot place and it sweats a bit as opposed to what it says on the commercial but it's ok. It really helps drinking more by day. You can introduce water and ice very easily. I would certainly buy the same if I need another one.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Acceptably functional water bottle, December 25, 2011
By Tom
I keep this water bottle in my pack and use it as a way to carry some extra water without the need to fill an additional camelbak bladder. I work in remote and rugged desert and wilderness areas so having sufficient hydration on hand is a necessity. After a year of almost daily use I have found two faults with this product: 1. The bite valve/straw limits the volume of water you are able to drink, and in my opinion should require less effort and provide more flow. I usually unscrew the cap to drink, and skip using the bite valve entirely. 2. While the bottle has a few dings and dents and has generally proved resilient to abuse, the bottom of the bottle has become somewhat convex, making it slightly unstable when placed on a flat surface. To its credit, it fits perfectly in the side pouch of my Camelbak BFM pack, and unless I break or lose this product I'll continue to make good use of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bottle, clean, portable - insulated version would add versatility., December 12, 2011
By K. Wickert (MN, USA)
This water bottle is smaller than a nalgene, so fits in most cupholders and backpacks much better, not to mention it's less weight and volume to carry around on a day trip.

The stainless constructions means that it's easy to clean and keep free of any buildup of flavor or growth.

However, if I were to buy this item again, I'd get it insulated for a few extra dollars - it sweats easily when cold and can't be used for anything hot.

I use it most often for water on my computer desk to prevent spills, or in my backpack to prevent spills. It's great for saving electronics or books from the perils of flying water glasses!

The plastic parts on the top likely will retain flavor more than the steel, so do be aware of this if you're planning on throwing juice or (gasp) coffee in this thing. (Again, hot drinks aren't a great idea - steel is a decent conductor of heat!)

Solid construction, easy to clean and keep clean (all the plastic bits come apart for cleaning), and easy portability with the carabiner loop and narrow size. Great! Throwing in the insulation would make this pretty much perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Water Bottle, December 8, 2011
By Bridget (CA)
Good water bottle. We have been using this bottle for months now, taking it hiking with us every weekend it's never leaked but it can put off some condensation when you put ice in it so I wouldn't place it next to your camera or anything.

It's a good size for hiking, walking, etc. not too large or heavy where you don't want to carry it anymore but not too small that you drink your water in the first 10 minutes of your hike.

Inside is a good size which makes it easy to clean, especially if you have something like a baby bottle brush.

The mouth piece can get a little grimy so you'll def want to replace it after a few months, they sell the replacement mouth pieces both online and at stores such as Any Mountain as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Use it everyday at the gym, November 29, 2011
By Dot (FL United States)
I take this waterbottle to the gym everyday. I like that I don't have to unscrew or do anything to open it while I am working out. Even with the straw up I don't have to worry about it leaking. The pattern on the bottle has not rubbed off yet and theloop at the top makes it easy to carry when walking to the gym.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Best Insulating Bottle Around!, November 5, 2011
By Learning Lady (Norman, OK)
I have had one of these bottles for two years now. I absolutely LOVE these bottles! It maintains ice for about 24 hours--plenty for beside my bed overnight or for all-day running around or travel (the more ice you pack in, the better it does). As someone else commented, I've left my bottle in the car on a hot (100 deg. plus) day and returned hours later to find that though the outside of the bottle was hot, there was still ice inside! It NEVER leaks when I put the cap on straight and tight, and I have NEVER had the cap break, though I have dropped my bottle on hard floors several times (there are four dents on the bottom from drops!). My experience is that the insulated CamelBak is extremely well-constructed. Despite hitting the floor several times, the bottle has never leaked and the insulating capacity is still fantastic. I have tried other brands of insulated bottles, and this is by far the best!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  bottle leaks and gets moldy, September 21, 2011
By MZ (IL United States)
The bottle looks nice and is sturdy BUT it leaks. Not from the nipple area but from the threaded area where you screw the cap on. The odd part is that it doesn't leak all the time....it leaks every few uses. I open and reclose it numerous times but just can't get it to stop leaking sometimes. So bottom line is that it is very difficult to use this bottle if you have to be concerned that it will leak all over your bag, couch, car, etc. The other issue is that the the rubber nipple- which is the typical to CamelBak nipple- gets slightly moldy. I noticed this after just a few uses so I started pulling the rubber nipple off the top of the bottle each night to make sure it all dries out but this doesn't seem to help. I still see minor traces of mold on the hard plastic component that you sip out of (that the rubber nipple attaches to). So- nice bottle but there are major issues with the top so I would not recommend buying this.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Very good, but..., September 18, 2011
By Yourwaterguy
One flaw from my point. The bottle is not double walled. I use this when I ride my motorcycle via a cup holder on the handle bars. It is exposed to the sun and the ice melts quickly so the contents do not stay cold very long. However, the camelback has a great design feature that keeps me using it and that is the dispensing nozzle/straw. Because of it's design you do not need to tilt your head back to drink, just suck like a straw so I can keep my eyes on the road.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  CamelBak .07 Liter Water bottle, August 19, 2011
By learningtocook (texas, usa)
Surprised at this water bottle's poor quality. Had a metal Camelback bottle ordered from Water.org Unfortunately I lost it and thought this was the same quality bottle. This bottle does not keep ice from melting, doesn't keep my water cold and the straw comes off the spout inside the bottle constantly. Stuck with it but very disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fantastic bottles, June 19, 2011
By PinkMoose
have bought 7 of these bottles now. had the BPA free ones but changed over to these stainless ones. Never have a bad taste in them, even if i forget one with a little water left in it for a few days, like the plastic ones did. Love that they keep the water cooler and never had problems with leaks. My first stainless one has a few dents on the bottom where i have dropped it quite a few times but doesnt affect the performance just adds character. The patterns we have bought are the fern, fushia (not as bright as the pic), stripe, charcoal and dogwood. All cool patterns and designs and none have chipped or worn off. Great product highly recommend. Also the cleaning kit comes in handy for the straw and bite valve. CamelBak Bottle Brush Kit by CamelBak
