High Quality Glove, July 24, 2011
By PA Stuff Buyer (Bellefonte, PA)
|
|
Things I like about this glove -
1) Excellent workmanship
2) Well placed padding
3) I really like the glove closure strap on the "palm side" of the wrist
4) Very light weight
Things that could be better
1) I would prefer more padding
General thoughts
1) The glove does run a bit small - For a golf glove, I wear a "med-large" and for this glove a "large" is nicely snug - so maybe half size small...
2) I would buy another pair...

Insufficient padding and cheaply made, August 30, 2011
By Pamela J. Boudreau (Chicago, IL)
|
|
I just got these gloves in the mail today and I will be returning them. The pads on the palms are way to spread out and thin to do any good. There is so much space in-between the pads that they are almost on the sides of my hands. The black fabric on the palms is thin and does not feel durable at all. I don't even need to wear them to bike to know that my fingers will go numb. The only thing I like about them is the pull tab to take them off easily. These gloves looked great in the picture but not nearly as impressive in real life.

comfortable but not durable, August 4, 2011
By Scott Cochran (Swainsboro, GA, US)
|
|
These gloves are so comfortable, that after owning this pair for a week, I bought my wife a pair to replace the $5 wallyworld gloves she had...... but they're just not durable. I've had them a month and already wore a hole in the material near one of the fingers. I ride 3 or 4 days for a total of 40 or 50 miles a week. I'm still wearing them, and will until my cycling friends start laughing at me.. maybe durability and comfort are mutually exclusive in cycling gloves..?

Felt good but super thin....concerned about durability, July 9, 2011
By M. Baca
|
|
These gloves look great and feel good too. They are SUPER thin, so much that it is impossible to remove them unless you use the wrist strap and pull them towards your fingers, essentially turning the glove inside out.
I tried removing them by pulling the half fingers the 1st time and the material began to unravel.
The fingers are made of a thin layer of stitched foam material which looks quite fragile. Like I said, if you pull on this your gloves will rip.
The padding was not noticeable, in a good or bad way. My impression from wearing these gloves is that I didn't even know I had them on and my hands felt fine after an 2 hr bike ride.

Graet Padding, July 2, 2011
By Ron (Lake Villa, Il. United States)

great padding
I have been having a problem with my hand not getting good blood flow when holding on to a handlebar. I have tried other gloves with padding but these have larger and thicker pads. So far they have helped.

Bad Gloves, September 8, 2011

Gloves fit nice but gave me blisters. Tried them a few times, thinking my hands were not used to them, gave me blisters every time. Don't get them, they will give you blisters ... they do look nice, but agian, the blisters.

I'm not very happy with these gloves., July 11, 2011
By M. Selensky (Oklahoma)
|
|
I didn't like these gloves the very first ride. I tried them for about a week and threw them away. First, the padding is insufficient. Any ride over 30 miles and my fingers go numb in both hands. Second, these are difficult to get off of sweaty hands. It is nearly impossible without pulling them off from the wrist strap and turning them inside out. Third, the black felt-like material on the palm of the glove comes off on your face when you wipe your face of sweat. Trash!

Comfortable ,but order a size larger, June 22, 2011
By rsnyder
|
|
I bought these as a replacement for a pair that were damaged in an accident. As I am starting to ride to work, I wanted a pair that would help make me more visible on the road. These gloves definitely do that. They do scream yellow!.
I find that they are comfortable, but order a size larger as I normally wear a large and the XL are none too big.
The padding seems to be in the right places as it fits right in with my grips.
I do recommend these gloves to anyone looking for an inexpensive, but good glove.

Good Gloves, November 13, 2011
By bradsmithga

I have been using the gloves for (of all things) trek walking up hills with trekking poles. I cannot find suitable gloves for this purpose. The gloves are a bit tight but are very well made. I would recommend them for bicyclists too (as I USED to bicycle quite a bit). I especially like the non-obtrusive velcro clasp (where it is located - by the thumb).

Great bicycle gloves, November 11, 2011
By P. Noga

The XXL gloves fix great, although XL was supposed to be my size. I live in Las Vegas and the temp here is getting chilly. These gloves protect and keep the wind off. Excellent quality. The tab on each glove to remove is fantastic. easy on, easy off. the screaming yellow stands out. great buy.

Great fitting gloves, November 5, 2011
By Michael Weida (Houston, TX United States)
|
|
I've been pleased with Pearl iZumi's products since they seem to be well-made and aren't overly expensive. These gloves are comfortable, and fit my hands well. Most clothes I buy are medium and my hands are average-sized. The medium gloves fit me very well. I like the little tab you can pull to easily remove these gloves. These were also much better price than buying them at a local bike shop.

Great gloves, October 20, 2011

I bought these gloves mainly for better padding for my hands, but the bright color make me feel safer when turning. They add a great safety when signaling. Not to mention they feel great very breathable so your hands don't drip with sweat.

good for the drops, October 12, 2011
By opositive (usa)
|
|
comfortable, thin, easy on and off. padding is along the parts of your hands where you grip the handlebars while in the drops. there is little if any padding in the palms where you rest on straight handle bars on a mountain bike or on the hoods of a road bike. i spend most of my time on the hoods of my road bike and on the straight bar of my hybrid--so, these gloves turned out not to be very useful for me. these gloves would work for a racer, though.

Really, just buy them, October 11, 2011
By The Scout
|
|
If you have never owned a real pair of mountain bike gloves, then buy these. They are great for hot weather. It's basically mesh on the top side, so your hands won't get too sweaty. The padding is wonderful. I always thought it was normal for your wrists to hurt a little when mountain biking, but after wearing these, that norm was thrown out the window. Save your hands and wrists.

Screaming Yellow a safety asset, October 5, 2011
By Marie (New England)
|
|
I am a woman and I bought these "men's" gloves for myself, my sister and my brother-in-law. We all love them. They provide enough cushioning, and are highly visible, which is important if you use hand signals for turning while in automobile traffic. I also like them because they are reflective when riding at night. They are comfortable, easy to put on and take off. Normally, I take a large women's glove, but a medium men's glove. Since this color is not available in a women's glove, I recommend that women consider this glove. If I were to lose these, I would buy another pair.

Go up one size from what you might think fits, September 24, 2011

These look great and feel comfortable when I tried them on the first time. I haven't taken them out on a long ride yet, but I think they'll feel good. I have short thick fingers and a relatively broad hand. Usually Large leather gloves fit me. I decided to go up to XL for these and am glad I did.

Pretty good gloves...but, September 23, 2011
By Brian
|

Why in the hell would they put 2 huge tags on the INSIDE of the glove? Really? Did you guys really think that was a good idea? The first thing I did was use a knife to take the tags off.
Other than that, the gloves are pretty good. I wish they had a tad more cushion though. Also, I have pretty big hands and opted for the XXL - I think these gloves run a little big, so the XL probably would fit better for me.

Great Gloves but run a little small, September 23, 2011
By DILYSI2
|
|
I recieved these gloves as I do most items from Amazon, extremely quickly and in new condition. I like the quality and material, but feel they run a little small. I ordered a large, but needed an XL. This is often the difficulty with purchasing online. Visit the Pearl izumi site for better sizing info prior to selecting a size.

Great Gloves, September 14, 2011
By R. Robinson (DC)

What can I say? Great gloves! I will add that I really like when you buy something and get a little extra. I was hoping that these gloves would be lightweight, breathable, and comfortable-- and they are. I went to get them off after trying them on and had to tug and pull. Then, I saw the little finger pocket located perfectly on the ring finger designed for your pinky finger of the opposite hand-- designed to do what? Ease with getting the gloves off! Wow! Five stars for that little extra touch!

Happy with these gloves thus far., September 13, 2011
By richard travis gibbs (pasadena, tx United States)

|
Recently I purchased a pair of these gloves (in blue) mostly on a whim to avoid shipping charges, but also to see if they would help with numbness in my hands when I ride. I found the sizing to be accurate, and the gloves to be comfortable. The padding is not super thick, but it did seem to help with my numbing problems, although I have yet to take them out on a long ride. I do also like the finger pull feature between the ring and pinky finger to help you get the gloves off without having them turn inside out.

These gloves run small, September 11, 2011
By honeycombcandles

Bought initially for the description of padding between the thumb.
There is not much there.
Okay for short rides.
I usually wear women's small or meduim. I wondered if the men's small would be too big.
They only just fit.
look good.
I like the easy-off feature.

Nice glove, but on the small side., September 10, 2011
By jmkiel

I should have trusted the other reviewers regarding these gloves running small. I measured my hands according to the size guide, but when I got these gloves, they were very small around the thumb. Not too small to not fit, but they're much tighter than my previous ones.
The quality on the gloves, however, it great. The padding is just right, and it's in the right spot. Plus, I like the tabs that are built in to help you get the gloves off. I'm pleased overall.

Nice gloves, September 9, 2011
By Jeff Jones
|
|
I purchased these as my first pair of cycling gloves - so comparison-wise, I don't really have much to offer. However - I was previously riding without gloves and would start to get numb hands on rides beyond 12-15 miles. Now even at 20 or 25 miles I still have good circulation and no nagging numbness.
I have also used these flatwater kayaking in a pinch when I couldn't find my kayaking gloves. I was worried about getting them wet, but they performed nicely with no shrinkage afterward.

Excellent Gloves - Fantastic!, August 25, 2011
By AZ Overdrive (Arizona)

|
All I can say is WOW! These gloves are awesome. Just started getting into riding again - mountain bike on street and light trails. Hands were killing me after only a couple of miles without gloves. Purchased these Izumi gloves and the difference is night and day. Mountain bike is setup properly with the seat at pretty close to the same height as the handlebars so weight is on the hands and wrists. Gloves are very comfortable and padding is excellent. No problems with strings or bad stitching on the tips, excellent production. Would buy again and again. Worth every penny.

These are great gloves. I was looking for gloves to keep my hands from tingling - these are IT. They are very comfortable and will protect my hands from road rash - what else can you ask for? Well, PI has a great warranty too. I had a problem with another product from PI, I wrote to them about it and the item was replaced no questions asked. This is what all consumers ought to get: a great product, at a great price with a great warranty to back it up!

Have finger/hand numbness? Get these gloves, August 20, 2011
By Edward Giardina (Boston, MA)

The title says it all. I'm a beginner cyclist who was getting numbness in my right pinky/ring finger after longer cycling trips. Took a friend's advice, and got these gloves. No more numbness! Would have gotten five stars except they're not nearly as easy to take off as the marketing language suggests. However, small price to pay for much more comfortable hands.

Very Nice, but they run small, August 17, 2011

Like many reviews have stated: these gloves run small. I ordered the XLs. I can just palm a basketball. I am 6'0" and 224lbs. They are a bit snug, but I imagine will stretch out. They did ease the tingling in my fingers and I felt the padding was decent. Definitely worth the price!!

On lower mileage rides these are a great pair to have. Doing a century plus, I would want more padding. Of course, I could work on my form, but lets face it- it goes out the window after 8-10 hours in the saddle. I have a death grip on my handle bars, so these do give me some sort of relief.

These gloves are well worth the money. They fit comfortably, keep the hands cool and dry, and the padding is exceptional. More size info, July 7, 2011
By Charles N. Landen, Jr (Charleston, SC United States)

Just ordered these based on prior reviews. Feel great. But I think I overcompensated on the size based on others' experience. I got an XL and it's a little big. For a reference, I wear a surgeon's glvoe size 7. Average is probably 7 1/2. If you are average, XL is probably right for you, I would have preferred a L. Will post more later with info on durability.

Great padded gloves, July 5, 2011
By David Beidelman (Coopersburg, PA United States)

Pearl Izumi gloves have padding located on pressure points while riding. This works especially well with Mountain bikes on rough terrain. Only thing negative is the little material tabs that are marketed by Pearl Izumi don't work with sweaty hands. No big deal since the gloves give great riding comfort.

Excellent glove at a very reasonable price. Word of warning, however. Amazon's sizing chart runs small. Based on the sizing chart, I should wear a large glove. I trusted my instincts and went with an XL; I'm glad I did. The XL fits snug, yet comfortable. A Large would've been too small.

I Don't Understand This Company, July 21, 2011
By Ray Woodcock
|
|
I don't get it. Their glove sizes are way too small. I had to order the largest size to fit a 9" hand, and it's still a bit on the snug side. So then I take the gloves for a ride. They have padding on the heel of my hand -- but that's not the part that contacts the handlegrip. So I'm still getting some numbness, even on rides that are not that long. Maybe making a bike glove is more complicated than it seems. But I don't get it.
