Show more by Polar
Average Rating: 4.0 star rating (40 Reviews)
  • Wrist-mounted heart rate monitor with sleek black housing
  • Reads average heart rate, max heart rate, and exercise time
  • Target zone heart rate indicator with audible and visual alarms
  • OwnCode technology blocks nearby crosstalk signals
  • Includes T31 coded transmitter; water-resistant to 50 meters
Product Description:
The Polar FS2c heart rate monitor builds on the successful FS2 model by adding OwnCode coded transmission with the included T31C coded chest transmitter. The FS2c provides an awesome balance of features and price, perfect for the first time user who frequently works out in group settings with other heart rate monitor users.
Get your fitness up and running with the Polar FS2c wrist-mounted heart rate monitor. The FS2c is a breeze to use, with a wide variety of heart rate functions that tell you just how well your workout is progressing. The watch starts by wirelessly reading your heart rate, with measurements for your average heart rate, maximum heart rate, and exercise time. The watch also includes audible and visual alarms that tell you when your heart rate exceeds or falls under your target zone. As a result, you'll know whether you should speed up or slow down to get the most from your workout. And users who regularly work out in crowded gyms will appreciate Polar's OwnCode technology, which blocks unwanted crosstalk signals from other heart rate monitors nearby.

Other features include HeartTouch button-free operation; an oversized display with a built-in backlight; a date and weekday indicator; 12/24-hour time displays with an integrated alarm; and a water-resistant housing to 50 meters. The Polar FS2c comes with a Polar T31 coded chest belt transmitter.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  works great, November 12, 2009
By L. Doll (Atlanta, GA)
My husband bought this unit almost a year ago, when another brand he was using quit working. this has been working great for him. I started using it a few weeks ago, and have been please with it's performance. The strap is comfortable, and the monitor is fairly acurate and easy to read. It is nice to have your heart rate displayed constantly, without having to stop and push a button. So far, it is wearing very well. Nothing is broken, and after a year, it is still displaying the correct heart rate. The other unit we bought earlier, was cheaper, and died after just a year. The strap just needs a little water on it before straping it on, like others of its kind. But, once on, it is not noticable at all. I have liked this so much, that I am buying one for each of our daughters for Christmas this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Reliable Basic HR monitor, February 21, 2010
By www.newsmirchi.com (Wausau, WI)
I bought this after researching quite a bit. I was more concerned about the accuracy of the Heart rate. Though some of the machines in my Gym shows fairly accurate HR, I wanted to get away from the requirement of holding on to the sensors always. With the above said as the only selection criteria I selected this model.

Pros:
1. So far in my tests/compares, It has provided accurate HR .

2. It was a pleasant surprise when almost all of the aerobic excercise machines (those I worked out on) in my gym picked up the signal from the transmitter and showed the data just as if I am holding the machine's sensor.

3. No issues with chest hair as mentioned in reviews for other models. I never had any problem in this regard though I have reasonable chest hair.

4. If you bring the watch close to the chest transmitter, it automatically switches to other modes (from HR display to Time display etc). I found this to be very useful as I need not slow down or do any additional thing to switch modes.

Cons:
Looks like one needs to send this out to factory even for battery replacement. So, for all practical purposes, I consider that once the battery life is gone, the monitor is useless.. Having said that, even if this works for an year or so, It is worth the money, IMO.

You need to watch out for the model if you need additional features (Calories calculator etc).

Summary: This is a good reliable basic heart rate monitor. If you intend to use this while working out on aerobic exercise machines (and assuming they show burnt calories etc), this would be a good choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  great basic heart rate monitor, February 1, 2010
By M. Hughes (Herndon, VA United States)
I bought this product because my previous heart rate monitor watch battery died and I saw no way of replacing it. This watch/strap combo costs 1/2 as much as my old model polar and does the same thing. As a bonus the watch display is quite large and easy to read while running/exercising. The older more expensive polar watch had more features, which I never used, but the display was small and in a smaller font making it much more difficult to read.
Strap is plenty big and comfortable. it says "m" (medium?) on it but it has no problem fitting my 46" chest.
Good product. just note that the battery is not replaceable so once this thing goes you will probably have to send it back in or get another one.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does everything you need - nothing you don't, January 10, 2010
By Tom (Ohio)
This is the "entry level" polar - but really I din't know what else I'd need it to do - it monitors you heart rate, time of your excersise, and displays the time of day.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Only one button ... which broke after one use., April 22, 2010
By P. Jun (San Francisco, CA)
While trying to set the date and time on this unit, the only button on this watch broke. It doesn't respond to any more button presses. I would return this if I could, but it has a big sticker saying that there are NO RETURNS allowed for this item and that all servicing needs to be done through Polar, Inc. in New York City. I have to pay for shipping there and wait 3-4 weeks before getting it back. Definitely not worth it!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  An excellent Heart Rate Watch, June 18, 2010
By K. Ebanks
I researched and read 50 or more reviews before I finally decided to buy this watch. The watch is perfect and has virtually no flaws. I researched the features that I required, and this watch presented those features perfectly. For perspective, I'm male and 6'3"

The Good:
- The one button operation is easy to use and the button is large enough
- The display is large and easy to read
- It's backlit (ie it lights up at night - on demand)

The Great:
- The awesome feature where you can just place the watch directly in front of the chest strap (while wearing it) and the watch will toggle between heart rate, time and even the back-light - yes the back-light too! Meaning while your working out at night, just pass the watch in front of the chest strap and the the watch will light up for a few seconds -- awesome!
- The watch is not bulky nor dainty
- It's truly waterproof (I have swam many laps in the pool with it and the readings were perfect)
- The chest strap is very comfortable and the sensor is small, sleek, and like the watch, it's waterproof.

The So So:
- If you have large wrists, the watch may not fit... Mine is being worn on the second to the last hole.

The watch would physically look appropriate for a man, woman, older boy/teenager, but might look too big or masculine for a young girl.

You can safely buy this watch and be happy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  An excellent basic heart monitor, January 31, 2010
By Leo Burghoffer (HEWITT, NJ USA)
The FS2C Polar Heart Monitor is a fine piece of equipment. It has always picked up the heartbeat without having to wet the sensor and I like the feature that let's you switch modes during exercise by moving the wrist unit close to the sensor unit. The only way to set the desired alarm range on this unit is manually so if you want to enter your age and have the range set automatically you'll need to buy the FS3C.Polar FS3 Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Dark Grey)

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The Best, February 20, 2010
By JayP (Florida)
This HRM is the best yet of three that I've purchased. The first two I purchased, the Acumen Eon Basics and the Timex T5J031, had the same problem of being able to reliably synchronize the transmitter( on chest) to the watch monitor(on wrist). This Polar FS2C takes 12 seconds to get synchronized and it stays locked! It's as reliable as a Swiss piece and simple to use.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  You get what you pay for!, November 14, 2010
By Paul J Horowitz
Watch looks terrific in pictures, but much less so when it arrives. Total low end plastic crap and I would have expected much more from Polar. A few other negatives, but my biggest gripe was that the number one reason I bought a heart monitor was to be able to give me a continuous and accurate reading and sadly, this low end Polar was not able to do so:

o Let's start with the fact that the watch takes what seems like forever to pickup my heart rate. The watch goes into stopwatch mode (as do many HR monitors) but then I quite literally have to wait mins into my workout routine before it finds my rate...and yes, I wet the little conductors.

o When the watch finally does find my HR, it very often then gives me a rather cryptic "00" reading. I have no idea what this means and apparently nor do the folks at Polar, because the code does not exist in their manuals.

o if you inadvertently bring the watch near your chest, it changes modes (which it is supposed to do), but I quite often based on whatever exercise I'm doing get my hands near my chest and having to reset the watch to the correct mode each time is a massive annoyance.

o I have no idea what EXE stands for, but a bit cryptic when all I want to see is HR.

Too much work for me overall to get a simple heart reading and should have paid the extra money to get a Suunto, which I will be doing the second I return the Polar...disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great!, December 24, 2009

Polar products link up to many elliptical, spinning, etc. machines. They give you an accurate readout, average, and peak heart rate. The monitor gives you added incentive to work harder.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Intermittent signal problems with strap, September 11, 2010
By Pharmacy Mom (Minneapolis, MN USA)
It looks great, and the watch seems to work fine. However, I continue to have issues with the band reading the heart rate accurately. I was using it to do an endurance test, and despite wetting the strap and working with the trainer, we were unable to get a consistent reading. They had a different Polar strap that I ended up borrowing, which worked much better. The monitor itself was fine. I plan on returning this one and buying a different model.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Inconsistent and too complex, October 19, 2010
By screaminbob (Corte Madera, CA)
I've been using Polar HRMs for 10 years. The early models worked fine; they just provided an accurate heart rate indication.

The current model has lots of cryptic features and modes. It would be handy if it indicated heart rate and time but, it can't do that because the display is limited to one or the other.

You never know what mode you are in or what it is trying to tell you. It has this feature where it changes mode when you put the wrist band near the chest strap. It doesn't work; if you want to change modes you have to try repeatedly to do it but, then when you don't want to, it makes unintended changes.

On top of all that it is unreliable: it often show improbable numbers.

Nonetheless, I gave it 2 stars because any HRM is better than none. It's the best way to do aerobic exercise.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Polar FS2C does the job for me, January 5, 2011
By JANET SALACINSKI
While working with a physical therapist it was highly recommended I get a lower end Polar monitor to help me get to my previous level of fitness after a couple of injuries which took me off my feet for 4 months. I had never used one before, and I am seeing real results due to my efforts and the heart rate monitorings. I get up to speed quicker in an interval walking program, focus my 1 minute 'bursts' better and overall keep my heart rate in the zone. This is great for someone starting out in exercising or looking to increase to a more intense moderate workout. If you are looking for a fitness plan I would opt for a higher level monitor which has more functions. This one is easy to use, the strap worn on the chest is comfortable and the functionality is fine for someone at my level.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Best in Class, July 13, 2010
By Ichabod (Virginia Beach, VA USA)
This monitor is great. I have owned 4 other monitors before this one.
Here are my thoughts:

Pro: Sealed (no rusty dead batteries) 2500 hours life on the monitor
Compatible with most if not all macj=hines at the gym
Smart: When monitoring bring the watch in close and it will change functions.
Easy to set up. Only one button but, step by step included.
Great fit. Once you put it on you will forget it is there.
Price is very reasonable

Cons: Must be sent in to Polar to change battery
I really can't think of anything else.

I love this product..Well Worth the 60 Bucks

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great basic heart rate monitor, June 7, 2010
By H. Hege (Powells Point, NC USA)
Basic, accurate functionality. Just what I was looking for. I set my target zone and then it beeps at me if I am taking it too easy or overdoing it. I really like the portability -- whether I am stair walking, inside or outside, resistance training, doing calisthenics, or going for a long walk. I try to exercise within my target heart rate zone, and this monitor enables me to it very conveniently. I am very happy that I bought this, and what a deal, under $50.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  unreliable, December 7, 2010
By Bartrader
Nice features, but hrm is very unreliable. While resting or walking around, watch picks up heart rate just fine. However, when exercising with a high degree of intensity, watch easily loses connection with strap, and it doesn't seem to matter how tight I get the strap around my chest, or how much water or "buh bump" I put on it, the watch cannot maintain a good connection with strap. Both Omron and my old sports instruments straps do a much better job at maintaining connection with their respective wrist watches.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Polar fs2c HR Monitor, January 17, 2011
By J. Stewart
I am pleased with most of the features of this monitor. The numbers are large and easy to read, the one button design is nice and simple to use. the transmitter works well. I went to a gym and ran on their treadmill which happily picked up my transmitter belt and read accurately the same as the wrist monitor. My only complaint is it does not have a backlight as advertised, so you can not read it at night without a light when running at night.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great product!, September 24, 2010
By Alex
I really like this product. Its a nice, basic heart monitor that tells you the time you have been running, your current heart rate, and the current time. While running, you simply hold the watch next to the chest strap and it will cycle thru these options slowly, and when it arrives at the display option you want, you pull your hand away back to the normal running position.

I feel this gives me ultimate control over my running workout. I can set a higher zone with this if I want to work myself harder, or set the zone low to relax a bit more.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Use with Pacemaker, September 11, 2010
By RCG (Tennessee)
I bought this device after finding that my Omron heart monitor was not compatible with a pacemaker. While Polar has a clear disclaimer about the risk of using a heart monitor with a pacemaker, I did the necessary checking with the manufacturer of my pacemaker and verified that the low power signal from the heart monitor should not interfere with my pacemaker. The Polar FS2C functions normally for me and I am completely satisfied with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Basic HRM that Works, August 17, 2010

If you are looking for a basic heart rate monitor, this is a good choice. Included coded chest transmitter is easy to wear and has good range. The wrist watch style monitor has a big, easy to read display and relatively straightforward one button operation. I also bought the Polar bicycle handlebar mount as I use my monitor mainly while bicycling.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  only bought it for the strap, which works great!, February 27, 2011
By lloyd williams (spotsylvania, va USA)
I only bought this for the strap to use w/ exercise equipment at the gym. I checked it out with the watch/monitor to make sure that worked, but have only been using the strap since. It has worked flawlessly for me every time & nicely I can get the heart rate reading from the equipment without having to use the watch/monitor. At the time i bought this the monitor/strap combo was $1 cheaper than the strap alone, so purchasing both was a no-brainer.
