Designed with a take-it-to-the-limit ethos and the needs of the action-sport junky in mind--the Flux MTB Helmet from Fox offers the a combination of protection, ventilation, and fit ideal for hardcore trail riding. Strategically Engineered Ventilation and Aerodynamics: Thanks to a deeper rear profile EPS shell, the Flux provides more comprehensive coverage than a traditional XC helmet--offering invaluable protection for more skull area in the inevitable event of a crash. The amped up coverage is perfectly augmented with 20 strategically placed ventilation ports that promote airflow and circulation, keeping your head cool during the also inevitable long climbs. The helmet's visor and spoiler are not only designed to look cool--they also serve critical venting and air flow functions. As air travels over the helmet, the visor helps channel airflow through the vents, keeping your head cool. The spoiler, a nod to the fin aesthetic in Motocross helmet design, channels the discharge air flow to keep you streamlined and fast. Lightweight Design and Fit with Greater Structural Integrity: The Flux Helmet provides a better more secure fit with great integrity and durability for high-action riders thanks to In Mold Design technology, the Detox Retention System, and Inset Chin Straps. In-molding technology molds the outer shell onto the EPS foam, protecting the EPS from dings and dents for a longer lasting helmet, and adding to the structural integrity of the helmet with a molded wrap fit. In addition, the in molding process reduces the overall helmet weight by eliminating excess and fallible tape and glue. The dual Detox ratchet retention system secures the Flux helmet comfortably in place for the best possible fit. The Inset Chin Straps are anchored directly into the EPS shell offer improved roll-off strength, and reduced overall bulk and weight. Whether you're a weekend warrior, suburban commute warrior, or a serious downhill crusader, the Flux Helmet delivers the comfortable protection, superior fit, and ventilation you need to ride without inhibition. Features: - Deeper rear profile EPS shell for more comprehensive protective coverage
- In Mold Design molds the outer shell onto the EPS foam
- Detox Retention System secures the Flux helmet comfortably in place, for the best possible fit

Best MTB Helmet I've Owned, September 5, 2010
By C. Peremsky (Tucson, AZ)
|
|
This is my 4th what I would consider "Medium/High-end" Mountain Bike Helmet. It is by far my favorite, probably its best quality is how much airflow this thing has, the gaps for the air to travel through are huge compared to other helmets I've owned so your head stays substantially cooler. This is a big plus especially when you live in the desert. The design is very eye catching, I opted for the "Black Camo" which is kind of reminiscent of the "Blue Tiger" from Modern Warfare.
The helmet also comes with another complete set of foam pads to replace the current ones when they are in need of a wash. The back adjuster piece is made of plastic/nylon and feels very sturdy and while it doesn't have a typical ratchet wheel style adjustment piece, it uses a method that requires both hands as you squeeze the helmet straps in the back to fit your head. To some this might be a con because you can't adjust it with one hand, while I suppose this isn't enough to dock a star it should be noted. The chin straps and the buckle itself are very comfy and feel very sturdy as well, it also has a little rubber band to tuck away excess strap.
The other thing to note is that the front bill is held on by two stubs on either side and will come off with relatively little force so if you run through some brush, it pays to check your helm to see if the bill is still there. While I haven't had to, you could probably apply some shoe glue or super glue to the studs where it sits if you wanted to make it more stable. Because of the rather flimsy bill and unorthodox tightening system, I ultimately decided to dock it one star.
I have yet to be in a real crash with this thing besides hitting a few branches so I can't really comment on the durability fully but you are suppose to replace your helm after a wreck involving your head anyways, but it has been smooth sailing so far.
In summary, if your looking for a good looking but functional helmet, I would very strongly recommend the flux

Best helmet to lay upon my head., March 21, 2010
By Mike Stanfill
|
|
The Fox Flux is the absolute best helmet I have ever owned. It is extremely comfortable temperature wise from all the vents, and physically because of the excellent shape and tightening system. The straps and buckling system are no-nonsense and quickly adjust without even having to remove the helmet. When I do break this one from a fall, I will quickly turn around and buy another one.

Shoddy workmanship = dangerous helmet, May 21, 2011
By Cvilly (San Mateo, CA USA)

I've used this helmet a total of about four times. This morning I went to put it on and the chin strap fell apart. It's attached to the helmet with very flimsy stitching. On closer inspection, it looked like the other side of the strap was about to fail also. Contrast this with Giro helmets which I have owned for over 5 years that have never failed. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

great helmet. it's late, I'm going to ramble for a bit., October 2, 2011

I bought the matte black version of this helmet for daily road use. I ride a brakeless fixed gear road conversion and a road triple bike. I don't do any mountain biking or trail riding, just strictly commuting. I took the front visor off after a while because I can picture a scenario where it shatters upon impact and shards of plastic would embed themselves in my eyeballs. But the visor does come off easily if it hits something.
I got the small but I had to tighten the strap in the back all the way to fit snugly on my head. No, I do not have a tiny head. Even fully tightened, the helmet will bounce all over the place when I'm riding around on the road and can be slightly disorienting. I think this is because there is a lot of room between the back of my head and the styrofoam helmet itself. It does come with an extra set of replacement padding, but I don't think thicker padding would help all that much. I tried on some different road helmets along with this helmet and the road helmets fit snugly without much adjustment, I just liked the aggressive look of this helmet. Other things that I don't like about this helmet are that the straps will loosen after a ride or two. I think this is normal, but is slightly annoying.
The best thing about this helmet is the airflow. I feel fully ventilated. When I ride around in Houston, TX in the middle of Summer, I completely appreciate not wearing one of those ridiculous BMX style helmets with five measly holes on the top. I sweat a lot. A LOT.
Road helmets mostly don't have as much coverage for the back of the head as mountain bike helmets do. So you could kind of say that mountain bike helmets are safer in that way. Also, Fox products are usually more expensive than, say, Bell. While Bell helmets are ugly as sin, all helmets must meet the same standards and if you think a hundred or so dollars means you get a safer helmet, you are wrong. I found this out the hard way, but I don't really care because I still like this helmet. Where I should have spent that money was on a lighterweight helmet (it's fairly heavy compared to other cheaper mountain bike helmets, why?), which might help to solve the problem of it shaking around on my head when I run through bad roads.

Decent helmet but not for big guys, July 26, 2011
By Frank J. Hahn II
|
|
Bought this helmet because I liked the look, color, price, the Fox brand, and the fact that it comes down the back of my head. Looking at the sizes available, the Large/Extra Large appeared to be my size. Although it fits, it has little room for adjusment. I wear a 7-3/4" hat, but shave my head and usually wear a bandana to help with the sweat. There is little room for adjustment and I don't want to take off what little padding is present. It works.

Light and Cool, July 18, 2011
By 248AM (Kuwait)

I've worn the helmet around 6 times so far on 30 minute trips. It's very light so you don't feel it on your air and it's also very airy. I've been waring it in 100+ degrees weather and my head never felt uncomfortable or itchy.
Only issue I have is with the strap, there is too much excess chin strap to tuck away.

Great Helmet.., May 20, 2011
By A. Chan (CA)
|
|
Great helmet, fits good and provides great airflow. Very lightweight as well. The only con to me is the box it came in. The helmet was sliding around during shipping causing some slight wear marks on the visor. But the helmet itself is great, provides more protection in the back and keeps your head cool. They also look pretty cool too.

Fox Flux is it for MTB helmets!, May 5, 2011
By Quinton Diets
|
|
Awesome helmet and a great great fit. I only have one gripe and it's easily fixed; the helmet pads have a small piece of velcro glued to them that easily comes off, even when removed (for washing) carefully. I put some super glue on it and it's good to go, not enough of an issue to lose a star.
If you want a stylin' helmet, great fit that's protective and cool in the summer months, Fox Flux is it.
Amazon shipped quickly as usual. Very happy with my purchase.

Exactly what he wanted!, October 7, 2011
By Love Earth
|
|
I bought this helmet for my husband who loved the same one (different style) that my brother has. My husband said it is exactly what he wanted and after doing a lot of research he knew this was the best helmet for him! We mountain bike A LOT and do some pretty intense downhill riding. This helmet would protect the student loan money we are investing in my husbands brain.... :) and it looks cool too! Thanks Fox! Thanks Amazon!

Love this helmet. Fits my massive noggin easy, and the visor is the perfect size to shade your eyes, but not block your view. Light, vents great, and looks awesome!

I took a chance buying this over the Internet but I measured my noggin at 61cm and according to the website this would fit and lo and behold its great! Fits comfortable as well. The real test will be this summer when I get a chance to actually use it on the trail. Also, shipped quick, packaged perfect and very happy!

Great protection!, December 14, 2011
By Gabriel Guzman
|
|
This is an excellent helmet! It is comfortable to wear, the visor offers some protection from the sun(good ammount, don't want to have a visor covering your line of sight). The Straps are a bit long but you can always tuck them away or cut them off. It offers a lot of protection in the back of your head as well. Very important for me.
