This book offers nothing new and no real insight into breakthrough pain and its management. The authors are biomedical folks and focus attention on biomedical management of breakthrough pain with inadequate attention given to the psychosocial aspects of pain and treatments other than medications. In fact this book is really nothing more than a few articles put together and came across to me as a quick way for the authors to make a few dollars without giving breakthrough pain the attention it deserves.
