Amazing to learn how root canals do indeed affect health! I do have and read Meinig's book "Root Canal Cover Up". Both books are a must to read!

Great book focusing on root canals, February 27, 2016

I'm almost half way through reading this book but I wanted to write a review. Prior to this book I read Uninformed Consent by Hal Huggins. That book was useful for reading about mercury, but his discussion on root canals was pretty weak. Alas, this book arrived next from the library. Before I go further, I have to say 1) the cover looks stupid to me and almost put me off from reading this book. 2) I have not read RK's newer book - Toxic Tooth. I will request that.
The author has a very easy and conversational writing style. There are photos in the back - which if were color would be much easier to make out. It is easier to read than Hal Huggins book. There is less technical jargon. This book primarily focuses on root canals and it is getting me up to speed. I just had my 2nd RC late last year - 2015 by a well trained endodontist (top school). I have a tooth abcess that is near my first RC in 2011. But here is the interesting part...
This book states that all root canal teeth are still infected. Ok, I get it, and I agree with the bacteria in the tubules or wherever else. Yes, the gutta percha recedes. RK's suggestion then is to remove the tooth completely rather than try to save it. That would be good advice for many who aren't able to make certain changes -- BUT, what if one significantly changes their diet, wouldn't that eliminate the bacteria in the first place?
I say this because after reading Nutrition and Physical Degeneration and various websites, I learned that it is possible to have no gum disease or tooth decay / cavities if 1) certain foods are avoided and/or 2) sufficient quantity of vitamins/minerals are added back into the diet which were deficient. Based on my diet, I have found lifetime deficiency which I am now correcting.
The bacteria is in the tooth because of an improper diet. So if the right chemicals are introduced into the system, could we not resolve this peacefully?
I have been eliminating many foods and negative energy over the years and my health in other areas has improved, but my teeth have been problematic. So, the last RC was the last straw and put me on an intensive learning program. I have read dedicated books on Vitamin D (Vitamin D Revolution is a quick read), K2 (K2 and the Calcium Paradox), C, and vitamin history, and Scurvy, and Death By Calcium. And documentaries (Like BBC The Trouble with Teeth, and various clips of mercury filling toxicity). A few more books are on my list including one on oil pulling.
I am now dosing up to 25,000 IU of Vitamin D per day (Goal is to get to near 100 ng/ml in blood - around mid-50s now), 2-3 teaspoons of Cod Liver Oil, 3-5 mg of K2, and several mg of C, also Vitamin E and B, A, and minerals. A sensitive gum I had for many months has now gone away. The tooth abcess ..seems to be shrinking too. It's still there but the radius has gone down. A future x-ray will reveal if it fully goes away. Another tooth in another quadrant which has a big filling in it and gum infection still below it, whatever sensitivity there was seems to be going away too - in fact I almost don't feel anything, and sometimes nothing.
I'm on the verge of stop eating bread/grains, so no more phytic acid too. I've switched to butter from margarine. Grass raised, not grain fed products.
So, the thoughts are - 1) Having a strong immune system is key to neutralizing any bacteria still in the tooth after RC (This can be achieved by diet adjustment, and learning about man-made EMFs - and avoiding them), and 2) If one adds back in the deficient vitamins and minerals, will that just end up eliminating the bacteria? Could the body eventually break down the gutta percha and replace it with natural material and remineralization over time?
Well..some of the research on Vitamin D and K2 importance came out AFTER this book was published. I will be interested to read Toxic Tooth from 2014.

This is a superb book that should be read not only by anyone considering a root canal, but by every practicing dentist and doctor, as well as by anyone who has a root canal and any chronic, unexplained illness. Your illness may well be all in your head, along with your teeth.

What you can't see can hurt you., March 28, 2015
By W.G. Whitney

Even though the cover has an almost cartoon appearance, this book's subject has to be one of the biggest medical crisis today. That is, the serious effects of root canals and the infected bone around extracted teeth. In 2002, the authors said that 50 million root canals were performed on Americans every year. Since root canals cannot possibly be perfectly sterilized, according to the many scientific studies referenced, we can only imagine how many health problems are being created worldwide every day from these procedures. The 400 types of bacteria that have been found under the dead teeth "saved" by root canals can mutate into some of the deadliest anaerobic bacteria on the planet. If it wasn't for the fact that they are caged (partly) inside the root cavity and the underlying bone, they would likely cause immediate toxic shock if they all got into our blood at once. Which can often be fatal.
They leak into the blood anyway, every time we chew food, causing all kinds of unexplained health problems like heart attacks, neuralgia, headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, stomach and bowel problems, fatigue and cancer. This is not a complete list. This book explains why people get ill and don't feel good for years and their doctor has no explanation for what's going on.
The authors explain how to test for toxic teeth or extractions and the surgical protocol for removing infected teeth and bone. They also cover the chemicals and supplements, the dental cleaning tools and oral habits that are needed before and after the surgery, to maintain good health. They briefly touch on implants. There are scientific studies listed (maybe too many) and letters from thankful patients.
This book explains a lot. Anyone with root canals or wisdom teeth removed and unexplained health problems should read it.
