1.0 out of 5 stars.  Review by Phil's wife., August 31, 2016
By Philip N. Taylor
Breaks/stops working easily. Teeth went in and NEVER came back out. One bulb is not working in the cheeks and there is something rattling around inside the head now...probably the teeth.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Beware of any toy that has small magnetic pieces, March 12, 2010
By Mantis (South Carolina)
This doll has small magnets -- magnets in the pacifier and teething ring! How long has it been? Just a few years since the first toy recalls in the wake of the tragic injuries and death suffered by children who swallowed or aspirated small magnets from toys? What is this doll's manufacturer (Zapf Creations) thinking?

Parents would do well to read the Consumer Reports 2009 Guide, "How to buy safe toys for babies and children," which recommends "BEWARE OF ANY TOY THAT HAS SMALL MAGNETIC PIECES. IF TWO OR MORE MAGNETS GET SWALLOWED, THEY CAN DAMAGE A CHILD'S INTESTINES. MAGNET TOYS CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS, TOO, AND THEY MADE UP A LOT OF THE RECALLED TOYS LIST IN 2008." Consumer Reports also advises: "REGARDLESS OF YOUR CHILD'S AGE, DON'T BUY TOYS WITH SMALL MAGNETS, EVEN IF THE MAGNETS SEEM SAFELY CONTAINED WITHIN THE TOY."

Parents would also do well to read the manufacturer's manual that comes with this doll before purchasing. In its warning it states: "Please take care that the magnets are not swallowed or drawn in while breathing. This can happen if one or more of the magnets should get dislodged from the article or come off due to breaking of the article. The clamping together of magnets in the human body can lead to serious injuries and require immediate medical care."

The fact that this doll is made in China only adds to my concern. As Consumer Reports also advises in their toy-buying guide: "... note that toys made in the U.S. have a better track record than many imports. Be especially wary of the "made in China" label; many toys recalled in recent years came from China."

While the Zapf website urges parents to "Take safety tips and warnings seriously," and to "Regularly check toys for damage," and to "Supervise children, especially when they are playing with new toys," there is no amount of risk, in my mind, that is "safe" when it comes to a danger as serious as small magnets. All the more so when that risk hinges on the integrity of cheap plastic doll accessories made in China -- a pacifier and a teething ring which all but shout "Try me! Put me in your mouth!" to a curious toddler. Bad idea, Zapf.

I am disappointed and frankly angered that so many toy manufacturers keep ignoring over and over and over the toy safety lessons that have already been learned in the most heartbreaking way imaginable. Why do these manufacturers keep reinventing the same broken wheel?

I'm starting to wonder if maybe we shouldn't just go back to ragdolls. Not only did they spark the nurturing spirit of young children for centuries (long before the invention of alkaline batteries and "magic" pacifiers and teething rings) but I suspect that the cries and giggles of a ragdoll are every bit as real -- perhaps more so -- in the mind of a child. And when you get right down to it, isn't that the whole point of using your imagination?

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Baby CHOU CHOU, December 26, 2009
By K. Cearley
My 3 year old recieved this for christmas and LOVES it. The only thing that she isnt crazy about is that when you give baby chou chou her binky it makes her cry and grow teeth instead of soothing her. But my daughter loves it anyways and takes it everywhere with her.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Granddaughter's Present, February 01, 2009
By Billie F. Beavers
I bought this product for my granddaughter's birthday. I was there when she opened it and she told me I was the best grandma in the world. She had wanted this doll for Christmas but I couldn't find one then. She had many happy hours playing with it while I was there. She is very imagnitive and she used the accessories to make her own stories using the doll.
