5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great book to help kids through a routine visit, July 10, 2016
By roggedance
I love that this book walks through what a child would typically experience, and making it a comfortable experience. We had a disaster visit with the dentist (wouldn't let anyone near her, nothing to do with the staff) when she was around two, and it took me over a year to take her back. We bought this book and the Elmo book and read both along with role-playing to prepare for a trip to the dentist again. She liked the Elmo characters in the other book, of course, but I liked the flow of this book better and didn't have to verbally edit out parts (I wasn't excited about the magic aspect of the Elmo book or the fact that it was about tooth pain rather than a typical visit yet didn't prepare kids for the process of medication and drilling). This was very realistic and still fun. Our visit was a success, and reading this book was definitely part of that success.
