Cheap quality and awkward, uncomfortable design

The power supply for the LED light stopped working after about 5 uses. I find the design of this unit to be awkward in that there is nothing to properly support the light and so the weight of the cord pulls the light in unintended directions. Also the glasses are heavy and uncomfortable to wear. I give it 2 stars rather than 1 because at least the price is cheap.

Unsatisfactory even for training and simulation labs, let alone on human patients.

Light works great! Working distance is NOT 420mm it's about 200. Just thought I would share. My wife is a dental hygienist and it does not support correct ergonomics for what she does, do to the incorrect distance specifications.

Loupe is horrible , loupe doesn't match the specification mentioned . It is supposed to have 420 mm working distance while it has around 200 mm. I was sitting with my back and neck bent to stay close enough for a Sharp image which contradicts the whole purpose of buying them . I am very disappointed and I don't see the purpose of the quality certificate that comes with it

The light was fantastic, the loupes themselves did not go wide enough ...

The light was fantastic, the loupes themselves did not go wide enough (even though adjustable). I ended up removing the loupes and just using the plain glasses with the light for clinic and loved that part of it

I was skeptical when I bought these but they've done an excellent job! The working distance, at least for me, wasn't the 16" (420mm) specified. It was shorter at around 300mm BUT we're already pretty much in patients' faces anyway so a few inches closer hasn't seemed to bother anyone, myself included. The magnification, however, is right about where it's said to be.
For the reviewers with cons: Fuzziness around the viewing field: that's fair but generally not a huge deal Screws loose: they're supposed to come loose so that you can initially adjust them to your general preferences and then fine tune them as you wear them Light is hot: yes it gets hot...so don't touch it for a few minutes after you're done and let it cool off (seriously guys?) Field of view: it is narrow but you can get the same field of view for both eyes by better adjusting the IPD of the pair. You have to play with it to get the IPD right but they do have a screw you tighten to lock it in. It takes some play and practice.
I'd advise getting an extra battery/charger for convenience and piece of mind. The battery lasts quite a while but does seem to charge slow. They're ~$20-30 on ebay (Amazon does have them too) but you might find a better deal if you shop around a bit. It's nice to have a charger at school and home so all I have to actually take home is the battery pack.
The case and padding are nice. Everything is divided and fits snug so there are no worries about anything bouncing around and getting broken.
Honestly, the only thing I can find that I legitimately don't like is that there's no filter for the light. I can't find any made by the manufacturer or others that would slip over it. This makes working with composites a little difficult. As of yet, however, I haven't had any completely polymerize before I was done but it does decrease your working time.
This is a great little set of loupes. As a starter, a spare or whatever you just can't beat the price and what's included. Shipping options are great too if you seriously need something in a pinch.
