Product Description:

The primary aim of this seminal book is to make the case that digital photography is an essential instrument for evidence and interaction in dental practice. Unlike many books on this subject, this book redefines the scope of and rationale for clinical photography beyond the obvious focal point of anterior teeth and esthetics to include all oral tissues and the entire spectrum of dental care. In addition, the author outlines the most suitable camera equipment and accessories, the correct technique and positioning, and the protocol for digital image management to ensure high-quality images. This book will help dentists appreciate the value and scope of digital photography in general dentistry and allow them to seamlessly incorporate the equipment and techniques into their clinical practice and workflow. An essential book that expands the place of clinical photography and underscores its role in improving clinical records and communication.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A must have for every dental health care facility., February 12, 2017

This book shows the real scope of clinical photography in dental practice and makes it relevant for dentists, hygienists and specialists. It is a great combination of structured relevant detail leading to straightforward practical techniques.

Everything is covered from camera systems to mirrors and retractors, how to place them and even showing which ones work best for different views. The section on adjustments in-camera with the Nikon is such a revelation. It is amazing that you can always get a great image within a few seconds.

You can tell that the author is a practicing dentist who uses his photography expertise to make this tool work for the rest of us. The author explains how to get the best out of a sophisticated camera system with a minimum of changes to settings

I have been teaching clinical dentistry to both senior students and dentists for 35 years. In that time I have continually used clinical images to demonstrate planning and procedures. I also had to learn how to create those images with no adequate teaching material available initially. Would that I could have accessed the information provided in this textbook, my trial and error experiences would have been very significantly minimized.
I had no idea how much use I could get from photography and how often I could use it every day in clinical practice.

Sheridan’s book now becomes the benchmark for this topic and should be in every dental surgery and on every dental and hygiene student textbook list.
