This is the BEST light you can get for cheap!!!!! I use in my YouTube videos! It's GREAT for starters! Eventually I will purchase the Diva Ring and more lighting but for now this works fine! I heard some ppl complain about the light only being half but there's a button on the back of the light that allows to control the ring and gives you an option of having the light all the way on or half! I purchased this item with the intent of using it to photograph coins. I'm not a pro photographer. I used a Nikon Coolpix P510, so there is no shoe to mount the power unit to and no lens threads to "screw" the adapters to. Also, I have a Raynox DCR-250 macro lens attached to the camera that does have adapter rings, it clips on like the lens cap. Had to use the 49mm ring on the Raynox lens in order to attach this light ring. First off, the light unit is a bit big/bulkier than I anticipated. Not having it attached to a shoe, the curled cord has a tendency to pull alot and weigh the front of the camera down. Additionally, once I had it mounted to the camera, and had a coin setup to snap, the light had a tendency to wash out the coin details. No matter how I adjusted it, it would not give me the detail I wanted. I even covered the LED's to diffuse the light a bit....not working. I seem to get my best pictures when using axial lighting with 3 lights to illuminate the coin vs. something closeup like this. The dimming adjustments on this ring don't seem to make much of a difference, at least not to my 53yo eyes. This item might work well if not using for detailed pics and with some distance involved. Regardless, I'll keep it and use it as a additional light source as needed.

This is light is an essential for youtubers like myself .... I record a lot of videos at night in my house where I have terrible lighting and this ring light has improved the quality of my videos by about 3 million percent. Very glad I made this purchase.
