1.0 out of 5 stars  These won't fit between my teeth!
By Cafelingo on March 11, 2010
I wanted to get a more eco-friendly pick because I had been using walgreens floss picks and LOVED them, but felt bad watching them pile up in my trashcan.
I very much dislike these floss picks. They don't fit between all my teeth, even if I try to force them (which, obviously shouldn't be done). I don't have cluttered teeth - I had teeth pulled before I had braces and my teeth are perfectly straight and spaced. The floss just doesn't fit. And the few teeth I CAN get the picks between break the string (even with broken string they won't fit between all of them).

Do not buy. Not worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars  Earth friendly, decent quality
By M. LaPlante on February 27, 2010
I have difficulty controlling regular floss, so picks help me keep up a daily flossing regimen. Unfortunately, I was never comfortable with the amount of plastic waste produced by throwing out picks every day. As such, I was delighted to find this earth-friendly product available in stores. You get to floss as much as you want with minimal impact on the environment, and the price is even very comparable to other picks.

The downside, as other reviewers mentioned, is the strength of the picks and smoothness of the floss. They are definitely not as smooth and sturdy as what you would get from plastics and polymers. You will almost inevitably have a few of them break on you, usually with the floss coming loose from the pick. Fortunately for me, I don't have this problem as often as some others claim. I'm sure each unique mouth has different needs, with some teeth being tighter together than others. I probably break one pick every 10 flossings or so. The quality also seems to vary a bit between packages. The overall failure rate seems low enough that I can deal with it as a trade off for an environmentally friendly product.

I would recommend anyone give these a try. It's only a couple dollars for 50, and if they don't work well enough with your teeth, just move on to something else.

1.0 out of 5 stars  It doesn't help the environment if you have to use 5 picks to floss your mouth...
By J. Berman on February 24, 2010
I bought these thinking that it would be the environmentally conscious thing to do. As long as I was going to be using wasteful floss picks -- instead of merely floss -- then I could at least get some that were biodegradable. I won't make that mistake again.

I'm not sure whether the picks don't work well because they are made out of starch or whether it is just a bad product. I'll I know is: they don't work. I'm returning mine to Amazon.

The problem is that after 1-5 teeth of use (or technically the grooves between teeth), the floss ALWAYS comes out of starch on one side of the pick. The unsuspecting flosser is left with a piece of 1/2 inch floss dangling from one side of the pick. Obviously this is useless, so he or she must then throw out that pick and get another. It would take most people at least five to get through an entire mouth. Of course, if you only have two teeth, this product will probably work fine for you.
