4.0 out of 5 stars  I LIKE IT.....SO FAR.....
By IHSSEC on February 01, 2016
This is the very first time I am using this particular kind of Fixodent. The VERY FIRST time I used it was from my dental office; they gave me four tiny sample tubes of it. I hated it! The reason was because when I took my denture out at night, this goopy sh1t was all over my mouth and gums and gagged me. I had a hell of a time getting it off my gums and the inside of my mouth, cheeks. It was gross. The stuff the dentist gave me was just plain unflavored stuff. I also am not sure I even applied it correctly because I could not read the back of the tube because the tube was so tiny, that I could not read what was written there. I probably put too much on. This was a lower denture...a temporary denture. I had implants put in for the lower denture because lower dentures simply won't work without implants. I had heard this numerous times from denture wearers who advised me to get implants. They usually put four in, but due to little/no bone structure in the back of my mouth, I could only have the two front implants. So I don't even have to use any adhesive at all now on the lower. However, I recently got my temporary UPPER dentures. I thought I could do the same thing...get implants and I would not need adhesive. HA! I nearly sh1t when they told me the cost of getting implants for the UPPERS. I was quoted a price for no implant uppers of $3000. However, IF I wanted implants, that price would jump to $12,000.00!!! GOOD GOD! I could not believe it, so I went with the NO implants for the uppers. Then, came the problem of adhesive. I did NOT want to use Fixodent because of my experience the first time. So I went with Sea Bond and have been using that since I got the temporary upper denture on January the 20th. My brother uses Fixodent for his uppers and he swears by it but I was NOT going to try it because of my first experience; I did not want ANYTHING IN A TUBE. That is why I was/still am at times, using the Sea Bond. I just cannot STAND the thought of that goopy sh1t in my mouth...it is so hard to get OUT and OFF of the mouths surface. Well, a friend of mine has been using Fixodent Scope for years. She told me to try it and told me to make sure I followed the instructions as to how much to put on, to copy the drawing on the back of the box. This morning, is the first time I am using Fixodent Scope flavor. I put it on my upper denture 4 hours ago, and my denture has NOT moved at all so far...I had a bowl of cheerios and nothing bad happened, no food under the denture; the dentures are staying in just fine...so far. Since this is the first time I am using this particular type of Fixodent, I have given it four stars because so far "I like it". My friend also gave me a hint about removing my denture. She told me NOT to take them out UNTIL they become "loose" on their own...which will indicate that the Fixodent is wearing off. Once the denture becomes loose on it's own, THEN remove them. She told me that very little to no goop will be in my mouth. She told me that if there is any at all, warm water will remove it easily. She said to just rinse with some warm water. So when my denture gets loose, I will do as she says and see what happens. If it is as she says, I will update my review to 5 stars.
P.S. I did not buy this Fixodent from Amazon...I wanted to try it in a hurry so I went to Wegmans last night and picked up a 2oz. tube of the Fixodent Scope for $4.49. I did not do the math here, so I don't know if it is the same, higher, or lower. For future tubes though, I will order it from Amazon because I am too lazy to have to go to the store to get it, lol.
