6 Years after purchase this camera still does not fail. Even though I recently purchased the OMD-EM1, I still use the E-3 as my backup. It is a solid and trust worthy camera.

Upgrade from Olympus E-1, April 24, 2013

After a hiatus on photography decided to dust off my camera equipment and start shooting again. Since we completed the new pond decided to use that as subject matter. Using the E-1 and the 70-300 to get close and personal it was apparent that one the body was not fast enough to capture the swimming fish and two it seems the lens was not fast enough given the shooting conditions. Buying a faster lens was not an option given the prices the 50-200 is going for currently. Hence decided to go for a new body. Live view, IS and more pixels where and added bonus on top of the higher fps. Since the E-1 was slow in capturing bursts of fish activity i figured upgrading to the E-3 would provide a better hit rate. All in all the E-3 is nice, feels solid. Need to get used to the new sensor though. The Kodak CCD sensor is just superb in color rendition.

So far so good, but I haven't used it on any actual work just yet. Just wish that the instruction manual had been included. Taking the strap off my E410 and putting it on the E3 was also an adventure in itself.

Stunning, January 19, 2013

I ended up buying this camera now in 2013! Mainly because I liked my Olympus macro 50 mm lens which I was using with an adapter on a micro four third camera unfortunately the focus was too slow (~4seconds).But now it's blazing fast. I plan to use this camera at low ISO, I am simply amazed with the image quality and the fine tuned amount of detail in the images. If you are looking for high ISO performance this camera is not for you because it's 5 years old. I'll probably upgrade to the highly rumored Olympus E7? When/if it comes out in 2014?
