This Sigma Macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG is a standard macro lens that is ideal for shooting the “small world’ around us that exists virtually unseen. A macro lens is one which will focus on a subject close enough to render it “life-size” on the image plane in your camera. It also has a “flat” field” front lens element so that it can shoot images of flat objects such as artwork or postage stamps and be tack sharp all the way across the image. So don’t miss the tiny insects, flowers of the world or the details in a stamp or coin collection or a piece of embroidery all of which are seldom noticed but offer a fascinating world if you look closely enough. Capture them with the Sigma Macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG.

A great macro and portrait lens Sigma 70mm f2.8 EX DG, November 14, 2015

Great lens! I use this on my Pentax K-50. It's not a 50mm as the review headline says though while writing this, it's a 70mm. It takes wonderful macro images and I use it quite frequently for that. My images can be seen here: alittleplaceontheweb.com if you would like to see examples. I just used it as a portrait lens and it worked wonderfully for that as well. Very happy with the quality of this lens.

The pics were not great, not even good., November 02, 2015

It doesn't come with any manual. So, if you are a beginner, good luck. It shoots in Automatic mode but the bokeh is just too much. All my pics look like they're shrouded in edge fog. I looked online for any guidance and no luck how to shoot in manual mode with my Nikon D7000. if someone knows how, please let me know and I'll change the feedback.
