A terrific update to my Nikon D-40x, at a terrific price. I bought this mainly for the higher pixel count and the HD video capability. I'm keeping my D-40x for a backup and/or to carry a second lens on my shoots.

Boy was this a step up., January 02, 2016

I have graduated through too many increasing quality point and shoots over the years, never happy with the quality of the photos I was coming up with. I finally took the plunge last summer and boy have I been happy with the results. Simply put, the quality of what you end up with is significantly improved from any point and shoot that I've ever used (my most recent being the $400+ Nikon P7000), I paired it with a Nikon 24-200mm zoom for a great one-lens solution (as lugging around multiple lenses is not my idea of a good time).

Great starter dSLR, December 13, 2015

I'm new to dSLR and decided on this model after checking reviews and features of several different cameras. I am very happy with this camera. My photos are much better even though I'm still learning how to use all the features. I wish I had gone to dSLR years ago! I highly recommend this for beginners like myself.

Great camera for the price alas little complex menu system, December 07, 2015

Great camera for the price, I was a Canon user all my life and this is the first Nikon I get. So far its great works well and takes great pics. The one thing I dont like is the menu complexity and the need to go to menu every time to change ISO. On the canon there was an ISO button one button and the click wheek can change ISO while looking at the view finder on the Nikon they made it too complex. Have to stop looking at the view finder have to activate the menus and look for the ISO. As a very experienced photographer I use ISO setting a lot and that is the one most important function I cant understand what were Nikon thinking.
