Beware the "5 year warranty", November 10, 2015
By Almost_A_pro

Only lasted 3 years in our small office. We empty the bin maybe once a week. That special 5yr warranty sticker only covers the stuff that probably wont ever break. (The scene from Tommy Boy comes to mind)
Two of the plastic tabs that are used to guide the confetti into the bin have somehow broken off (and the replacement part is no longer available/made/quite possibly never existed). They said its only covered during the first year. Since some of the guide tabs cracked off, the confetti gets jammed in the corner of the unit. About every other basket full I need to get a screwdriver and scrape the jammed confetti out of the corner or it will max out at 2-3pages.

How to fix no power , no green light problem, June 29, 2015
By David

I purchased mine second hand not working, there seemed to be no power to it, ( green Power light not on when switch was in on position
. After tearing the whole thing apart I realized it was something simple to fix so I thought I would post it on here. The basket is wire mesh, it will bend fairly easily if banging it on a trash can.
There is a magnet in the bottom of the basket that triggers a safety switch only allowing power to the unit when the basket is in place in the shredder. The basket tilts out when you step on the foot pedal. the basket teeters back into the housing when you lift your foot off, the problem with mine was the front of the basket was bent out of shape just slightly not allowing the basket to tilt back all the way in the housing. Since the magnet has to be very close to the switch, the slightly bent front of the basket more a curve than flat caused the back of the basket not to seat so the magnet was lifted off the base just enough to not be close enough to trigger the safety switch. I simply bent the front of the basket to fit the curve in the housing where it seated and it worked. So you people who don't have power or the green light is not on, try adjusting the basket,or to test if that is the problem take a magnet and run it around the bottom of the housing where the basket sits, if the green light lights up, the seating of the basket needs adjusting.
