Perfect Shredder for home use, October 02, 2013

I work from home and bought this for my home office and general shredding of printed material that comes to our house that I didn't want to throw in the paper recyclable bin. It completely meets my expectations and needs. Some people have "dinged" shredders like this but it sounds like they were trying to shred a year's worth of paper all in one setting and were disappointed when the shredder didn't perform. This shredder is not meant to be used in a commercial environment - I don't collect papers to be shredded for weeks and try to do them all at once - whenever I have something to shred I put them through this shredder and have not been disappointed yet. When the basket gets full I empty it. It's relatively quiet and the paper feeds through it very quickly and cross shreds the material into small strips. I have not tried to shred a credit card yet so can't speak to that feature. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this and would recommend it if you intend to use it as I've described above.

Works really well. I had the same unit before but it finally died after about 8 years of regular use. I hope the new one lasts another 8 years!

It works as advertised and I really used it to shred a ton of paper. Retired and ready to get rid of all kinds of papers. Learned a few things during the process. If used continuously for more than 15 minutes and it shuts down completely. Wait it to cool down. Best solution to avoid this is to take it easy. Give it a break now and then. It does handles staples. But this is good only if you have less than six or seven pages stapled. If more you have to take it apart any way to feed it best to keep the sheet count to six or less depending on paper thickness. Eight is true only for thin paper. Very satisfactory safety features also.

Price wise it was ok. It shreds paper and is big enough for what I need. However, it doesn't fully shreds plastic carts or credit cards. I have to open it up and run them 2x through the shredder. Don't even think about Disks.
