Great performance, long time satisfied customer

This unit replaces one that lasted about 6 or 7 years and is the third one I have owned. So long time Braun/Oral B tooth brush user. These things work so well that every time I go see my dentist he comments on how well I brush my teeth. The 7000 is very nice and works a lot better than my old one did. New works better than old. Yes it comes to a complete stop every 30 seconds to let you know to move to the next quadrant of your mouth. The older ones do a stop-start hesitation rather than a complete stop. I fail to see how this could ruin someone's whole routine, but if you are that lacking in versatility good luck to you. Yes it takes 20 hours to charge fully from dead battery to full charge, but you only need to do this once every 6 months or so. The rest of the time just leave it on the stand and it is always ready to go. Battery life is the same on the 7000 as it has been for my older ones. I really don't care what kind of battery it has in it. The travel case is a nice addition for those of us who travel. This is a very nice item. Highly recommended.

Black model is not Bluetooth

Be careful with your order. "Black Bluetooth" isn't the actual Bluetooth model (at least it wasn't when I ordered it March 2015). The WHITE Bluetooth model is the actual Bluetooth one. I have returned the black smart connection version and ordered the Pro 5000 since I know it has the Bluetooth connection. If you don't want the Bluetooth, this would probably be a great brush for you. The travel case looked pretty fancy.

Get ready to brush em right!

Not much to the setup really, I did read through the instructions as some others seemed to have issues. It pulses and beeps at the 30 second intervals and shines bright red when you push to hard. I had no idea I was pushing so hard when I brushed my teeth. The light is bright enough to see even with your eyes closed on those tired mornings. LOL

Well I returned the 1st one I ordered because

Well I returned the 1st one I ordered because the "Sophisticated pressure-sensor technology alerts you if you’re brushing too hard and automatically decelerates the pulsation and oscillation speeds of the brush head." Failed after the first day. After that it said I was brushing too hard even when the tooth brush was running by its self, with or with out a brush head on it. It would I was brushing too hard in every mode except tongue cleaning mode.So i returned it for a replacement which I received today. I'm letting it fully charge before I try it. I have had older Oral=B electric tooth brushes without all the bells and whistles this one has and they all worked terrific.
I'm glad they let me return it, that's why I gave it 3 stars.

Great features but it doesn't have bluetooth or connect to app

I ordered the toothbrush expecting it would work with the oral b app, but it turns out this model is SmartGuide (the smiley guy thing) but not SmartSeries (bluetooth / app). I'm subtracting one star for that since I searched amazon for "oral b bluetooth" and it led to my ordering this product. I decided to keep the toothbrush since it was on sale for less than the SmartSeries model and had good reviews. I'm glad I did because I love it! I mounted the smartguide on the wall. It smiles when you get to 2 minutes and it winks if you go longer. (Does it think you are using it as a vibrator? LOL) It frowns if you brush too hard. I only wish it would make this face instead :-[]

Too many cons
|
|
By K. L. on March 24, 2015

This toothbrush does a good job at getting my teeth clean (whitening brush head), however, the cons seriously drag the rating down.
Pros: Good cleaning experience
Cons: - LOUD! Much louder than my previous phillips electric toothbrush. - No brush head cover. So you wouldn't want to leave the brush head on in a bathroom environment. You could take it off, as there is a covered (not sealed) portion of the plastic base to hold 4 brush heads. However, that leaves the metal piece/rod the brush head sits on exposed. To me, leaving a lubricated part exposed is not a great idea, and given the metal rod's length and shape, potentially dangerous if you fell on/ran into it. - NiMH battery. Enough said. See others' reviews about charge times/battery life. - The toothbrush STOPs for a full second or two every 30 seconds to remind you to switch areas, instead of a small pulse like others. Very annoying. - The bluetooth addon display is worthless since the toothbrush pulses every 30 seconds. Waste of battery in the toothbrush as well. - The base includes the brush head cover and makes this take up a lot of counter space should you use it. You can use just the toothbrush charger portion that slips into it, but there are cheaper options that don't include the base to begin with.
I definitely would not buy this toothbrush again. I gave it two stars for the cleaning ability, but most out there are similarly able.
