Comparing the two I've tried, November 13, 2015
By Kristin J.

I recently learned I have been grinding my teeth at night enough to chip my molars. I tried the DenTek Maximum Protection Night Guard first. It fit well, and was easy to mold, but I needed to replace them monthly, as I would literally grind holes in them! I purchased this mouth guard accidentally one month, and I am so glad I did - I am on month 3 of this one, and it is still in great shape. I also like the fit of this guard better. It allows you to sleep with your mouth closed, which is much more comfortable. This guard is also easy to fit. I will definitely purchase this guard again, whenever it finally wears out!

I couldn't get the mold tight enough to stay on my teeth., November 10, 2015

I followed the instructions, but the NightGuard does not stay on my upper teeth when I open my mouth. I pressed outside and inside, but it keeps falling off. During the molding process, the material stiffens fairly quickly. Did I get a defective product? I've tried to contact the manufacturer via http://www.doctorsnightguard.com/contact-us/, but the Submit button on that page does not submit.

Disappointed, October 29, 2015

I really wanted to like this but after several tries I still could not mold it, despite following the instructions closely and using a timer. You definitely have to boil it for longer than the instructions say to make it soft enough to mold. I was only able to mold it half way and it would not stay on my teeth.
This is also quite big for smaller mouths. The ends went past my wisdom teeth and yes, you can cut the ends, but thickness-wise it was just too big and I could not close my lips naturally.
I think maybe I just did not boil it long enough, so perhaps others would have better luck, but I ended up paying for a mouth guard from the dentist due to the size issue as well. If you're on the fence and you're worried about your teeth grinding, it's important to note that your health is worth infinitely more than saving a few hundred bucks. (You can also save money by ordering directly from a lab.)

Good guard, don't try refitting it though, October 21, 2015

Good mouth guard. The only negative comment I have about it is that they should not recommend that you can re-do the fitting process. This is a one-and-done kind of product. If the first fitting didn't go well, don't heat it up again. Unless you messed up royaly on the first go around, it will make the mouth guard even worse fitting than your first time. If you mess up, just buy a new one.

... a lot of mouth guards and this is the best for me, October 20, 2015

I've tried a lot of mouth guards and this is the best for me. My issue with other guards, even the one made at the dentist office, was that it felt like it was pulling my front teeth back. This is the only one I've found that does not come up in front of my front teeth. The plastic stops just behind the front teeth. Kind of bulky but really comfortable.

Comfortable, easy to fit, October 20, 2015

I have a terrible problem with grinding my teeth at night, but I can't afford the dentist quality nightguards. This product is perfect for me. The directions for molding are very clear, and the whole process took less than ten minutes. Great product, great price. Highly recommend for anyone who suffers from sensitive teeth or headaches caused by grinding.
