I have a terrible habit of grinding my teeth and clenching my jaw in my sleep and wake up daily with headaches. I ordered this, and was very excited to finally receive it. However, it's pretty small (and I don't have a big mouth) and it just kinda floats around in my mouth. There was no way I could possibly go to sleep with this piece of rubber in my mouth, because I'd end up choking on it. Too small for my mouth, too large to fit all the way down my windpipe so I'd definitely end up blue in the face in the morning. I can't even send this back because I spent 30 minutes trying to somehow make this work. Oh well, another present for the trash can. If you are expecting something sturdier, have a gag reflex, or are worried about swallowing small irregularly shaped objects in your sleep I'd suggest you avoid buying this mouth guard and do as I am going to and buy a different mouth guard that's going to fit my teeth, not my throat.

I've been using these for awhile now even after trying expensive $20-30 guards that I usually chew through after a month or two. These work very well for the price, but would like to invest in this design but maybe better quality. The pads on these will wear out and become very thin after about 1-2 weeks of use, so I buy a few for the month. Very comfortable compared to even the best expensive guard I have tried. I sometimes worry about the bacteria that may accumulate from all the increased saliva in my mouth while wearing this... I have woke up with cold sores and sore throats. But I noticed with the full-mouth guards this was even a bigger problem I had, even if they were comfortable, greatly affecting my quality of sleep. It says to replace these after one use due to sanitary reasons, but I just soak mine in a small container of mint rubbing alcohol until I'm ready to sleep again and just rinse it off and reuse.
