Infomertial and scare tactics. Lots of scarey stories about how bad it could be, but the only solution ever offered is to hire his consulting company. I don’t blindly trust my EHR vendor or my IT support, and I will not blindly follow consultants. I need information so I can do my due diligence on HIPAA consultants. Sadly, this offers none.

This little books is sort of the "Scared Straight" of HIPAA technology consulting. Semel's key message is that you can't just read the rules or take a training with HIPAA - You have to understand how the rules are enforced by various agencies. You also need to know the basics of covering yourself for liability, and work with other Business Associates who take HIPAA seriously.
Too many doctors and medical facilities don't take this seriously. Mike has great examples of the different kinds of things that result in violations, and the fines that resulted.
If you're considering (or are already) working with medical Covered Entities or other Business Associates, you would do well to read this book and connect with the author.
