Works as it is supposed to. Hopefully saved a newly planted tree with an air pocket at the roots.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Water those Roots!, September 07, 2015

Love this root irragator. It's very solid and works as well or better than others I have used. I've really given this a good workout and nothing has loosened up on it and it just keeps working without issue. gonna get a couple more.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Irrigator Tips, September 04, 2015
By A Customer
Just Bought and looks like my old root irrigator (Hound Dog, now discontinued). My "Dog" came with an attached shut-off valve that that doesn't fit on the Yard Butler. I had to use Plumber's Tape (wrap it on and over lap as you go around like you do for a new showerhead) on my "Dog" to stop the water going side ways. Some water may still come out, but will go down the handle and not get you as wet. I also bought a shutoff valve for my Yard Butler so I won't have to keep redoing the plumber's tape. I had left my Dog out on my deck and soon after I bought it and we had a hard frost. The next time I wanted to use it, the metal connector and metal ring fell off. I had to glue it back on and still worked. (Happened again after this winter.) Don't leave your irrigator outside or in a unheated building in cold weather! After watering my tree, I would put fertilizer down the hole(HOLLYTONE) made by the irrigator, push the fertilzer down with a tool or stick, and rewater briefly again. (I had to fertilize my trees this way because some animal would dig up my fertilizer sticks soon after I would put them in the ground.) I had my "Dog" since 2009 but wanted a newer irrigator. I agree with the other people's advice given on the technique about placing irrigator in ground slowly to prevent clogging. I had my "Dog" since 2009 but wanted a newer irrigator. I will write a review on the Yard Butler after watering my 30 trees and bushes.

UPDATE: I watered about ten trees so far. If your irrigator is leaking sideways (Janet), replace the washer. I found the manufacturers washer useless right away. I bought "Gilmour REPAIR Rubber Hose Washers" when I purchased my YB at Amazon. No leakage so far any where!! You can buy washers at any hardware store (Lowes, Home Depot, ACE, ACME, Tractor's Supply,etc.). Take the old one in for the right size. I think a dedicated shut off valve helps to control the flow gradually and save water too. (City water pressure is stronger than private well water pressure.) I found the YB great once you can concentrate on the trees and not getting wet. No complaints after I changed my washer. I water my raised garden beds any time I want becuse I am watering the roots not the plant. Very satisfied with product!

It has a little too much pressure when inserted into the ground but it does an excellent job as a higher pressure sprayer.
