This is a really awesome idea but my kids made a huge mess out of it and before long, the opening was like an ice cave of blue toothpaste. I'm sure for an adult it will stay cleaner.

The dispenser works great, but the holder wont fit toothbrushes with wide necks.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Three toothpaste dispensers are misrepresented garbage. Don't buy., January 25, 2016
By John T.
You know, it is probably insane, but I spent several hours looking at all the "different brands" of these toothpaste dispensers before finally choosing this one. I ordered five of them. One to go beside each of my three bathroom sinks and one each for the two showers. I spent quite a bit of time on the one and two star reviews to make myself aware of any potential downside. After reading them, I probably should not have purchased, but with so many glowing five star reviews, I thought I could make them work. I really WANTED them to work.

First of all, the "different brands." Most of the so called "different brands" are exactly the same, offered by different sellers at different prices with different reviews. They are cheap Chinese junk that people order from somewhere and add their brand name. I'm not sure what is going on exactly at Amazon, but I see a lot of this now. I suspect people trying to make a buck find something on Alibaba they think they can sell, order a container full, add their brand name and start selling on Amazon or eBay. Whatever.

In any event, when I notice an item that appears to be sold this way, even though there may be an unreasonably large number of one star reviews, there always seems to be a huge number of five star reviews. So it was with this toothpaste dispenser. I have gradually become convinced that the five star reviews are as fake as a fur on a fish. I especially mistrust all the five star reviews where the reviewers got free stuff. These days I look almost exclusively at the one and two star reviews to make a purchase decision. Somebody getting free stuff has every reason to dress up their "honest review," while there is no motivation for deliberately maligning a perfectly good product.

So here we are. This toothpaste dispenser is total junk, not worth the plastic it's made from. I'm pretty handy, yet after spending two whole hours of frustration trying to get the things to work, I finally threw in the towel and returned them all. I also had a friend over to help. He's a professional mechanic and he couldn't get the things to work either. We wasted a half a tube of toothpaste and had it all over the place. Save your money; just squeeze the tube. The inventor of these things had a great idea, it just did not work. He should have fine tuned before rushing to market.

Just for the record, while trying to get the things to work, I read dozens of Amazon reviews as well as questions and answers discussing potential pitfalls and tricks to get the dispensers to work. At no time could I get more than a tiny dab out of the dispenser. Trying to load the toothpaste tube into the dispenser and get it primed wastes a ton of toothpaste and makes a big mess. Even if you get it to where you can get that tiny dab, bump the tube and it comes loose and you have to go through the whole mess again. If I just could have gotten one of them to dispense consistently, I would have used them anyway, but I couldn't get them to work at all -- none of the five. Junk, junk, junk!

Also, as mentioned by several other reviewers, even it the things did work, there is absolutely no way to clean it in the future. Even if it did work, it would eventually get a bunch of nasty old spilled toothpaste loading the inside of the mechanism with no way to get it out.

I have returned very, very few things to Amazon, but these dispenses are one giant rip-off. Save yourself some grief and skip these dispensers.
