Product Description:

B>Articulatory and Phonological Impairments provides readers with a solid, up-to-date academic foundation and a way of applying this information to the assessment and treatment of individuals with articulatory and phonological impairments. This book focuses on integrating academic theory into practice. Clinical applications are built into each chapter to demonstrate the principles discussed, and case studies are included to promote the transfer of knowledge from academics to clinical practice. This book provides comprehensive coverage of the following current topics: phonological assessment, phonemic-based therapy, and nonlinear phonologies. There is also a thorough discussion of phonetic principles applied to the diagnosis and treatment of motor-based disorders, i.e. articulatory impairments. For those with an interest in articulatory and phonological impairments.

5 out of 5 stars.  Excellent resource, January 10, 2009
Full disclosure, here -- Dr. Bauman-Waengler was one of my professors in undergrad and grad school, and I think she's great. So maybe I'm a little biased, but I own the 2nd edition of this book and think it's a fabulous resource! I referred to it very often when I was starting out, and still use it periodically. The book is well organized, with lots of useful information in easily accessible charts. Also, it's an easy read, thanks to Dr. Bauman-Waengler's distinct and enjoyable writing style. I'd recommend it to anyone!

5 out of 5 stars.  Very useful!, October 13, 2008
Well-written, easy to read, and informative, this book will be referred to repeatedly by clinicians working with articulation disorders. It covers everything you need to know about articulation and normal development of sounds. Assessment, diagnosis, and intervention is also covered, and it contains several charts throughout which the clinician will find useful to refer to or keep data.

This book is not only informative, but also clinician-friendly. It is very well-written, and a "must" for any graduate student or new clinician in communication disorders.
