Classic bike bell., July 9, 2007
By C. Cornell

Here's all you need to know: It's a red bell. It rings. Loudly. It fits the handlebars securely. It does exactly what a bike bell is supposed to do.

Perfect classic bell, June 11, 2007
By Loving Motherhood (Vancouver, BC)
|
|
I easily installed this bell on our Kettler Happy Nav. Can't see much going wrong with it as it appears to be very well made with high quality metals & high quality flexible but strong plastic. I'm pretty sure it's not waterproof but I don't think I will be taking our little guy out with his trike if it's really raining.

love my bell, use it right!, April 30, 2009
By justine (Forest Grove, OR, USA)

I wish all bikes had bells, like europe, in portland Or, the big biking place, bikes sneak up on your left, whisper, "onyourleft" and scare you just for the fun of it. They pass as fast as they can, for fun, no bells.
I have biked for my entire life, and never meet such rude bikers.
I aam not such a rude person, being from the midwest first, then oregon.
With this bell I can ring a 1/2 tone a 1/2 block away which moves walkers to the side without causing heart attacks. I like this bell because of the ability to modulate the tone to 1/2 and 1/4 rings with finger pressure.
When the walkers are lost in a haze, I just ring 1/4 tone, then 1/2 tone then 1 tone as I move up on them , just like Europe. Someday americans will stop hogging the walking/bike paths. This bell, used right will help.
Use it early!!! not late.

Ding dong! Yay for the bell!, July 3, 2007
By San Francisco Citizen (San Francisco, CA, USA)

My 21 month old LOVES this bell. I almost swiped it for my own bike, it's got such a great, loud ring, but was talked out of it by hubbie. Bright red, installs in a couple of seconds, and made riding her trike fun even before she could push the pedals. Yay!

A nice r-r-r-r-r-ing tone. Not just for kids., March 4, 2011
By Bo88y
|
|
I got one of these because it appeared that some of the other bells had single "ding" actuators, and this one looked like it went r-r-r-r-ring. It does, and it's loud enough to warn pedestrians, other cyclists, and even nearby drivers (if their windows are open). It's a pleasant enough tone not to evoke resentment, unlike some of the horns that some avid (rabid?) cyclists recommend.
- Placement can be a bit difficult on handlebars with brake- and shift-levers. If you look at the illustration, the lever is on the right side, and its action requires it to be pulled toward you. I mounted it on the right side of the handlebars, just inside the shift-lever, with the top tilted back toward my chest, so I can flip it downward with my right thumb. This works well in terms of ergonomics, while keeping the bell in a position that drains if it gets rained on.

We received this bell as a gift for our [...]son's Kettrike. It appears to be very well made and was very easy to install on the trike. My [...]has no problem working the bell and it has the classic bicycle bell sound I remember from childhood. As always, Kettler does an amazing job of producing great products.

Loud, reliable and sporty, December 5, 2009
By Clem C. Lambeth

Haven't had it very long but so far it works like a charm and was easy to install. I worry about scaring people as I come up on them from behind on my bicycle on the trail I ride. Of course there are those who block the trail and need a reminder to move over. This thing gets their attention easily and snazzes up my bike too.

Three words: get this bell, July 28, 2009
By payam
|
|
This is an excellent bell. It's red, so you will find it quickly in the heat of an emergency. It's loud, so others are more likely to hear you ring it over other noise, like street noise. You can mount it on the right and flick it with your index finger or mount it on the left and flick it with your thumb. The branding sticker comes off easily, which I view as a nice plus. I don't know why it's marketed for toddlers, this is all around better than any other bike bell I've ever seen.

A nice little bell., August 14, 2008
By M. Wang (CT United States)
|

The bell is cute and makes a nice ring. The force required is small enough for young children.
I am a little surprised that it comes left-handed. Maybe there is a way to switch it to right-handedness, but I cannot find any instruction to do so.

I bought this bell thinking it was for adult bicycles. It wasn't until I was on the Autobahn with car traffic going over 100 mph that I found out how wrong I was. It turns out, this "bell" is for a tricycle for 2 year olds.

a cute bell; a box of 6, February 23, 2010
By poet, waitress, picture .. (Oklahoma City, OK)
|
|
I really did receive a box of six bells. That sure was exciting. I paid $6 or $8 thinking I'd get one bell but got so much more. My daughter's trike came with a bell so I bought a bell for my son's trike to avoid any fights. so, the big, heavy bell on my daughter's vintage-styled radio flyer trike came off since it was slipping all willy-nilly all over the place and we replaced it with one of our many extra bells. These kettler bells are not made to stay on the radio flyer trike handles. The solution for us? I pulled out some adhesive scrapbooking foam (the kind that makes things pop off the page) and lined the black ring that goes around the handle bar with it. And, voila, I have two very happy, satisfied customers. So satisfied, in fact, that they race over to their trikes to ring the bell every time we get in & out of our car. It's a cute, high ring that sure makes and impression with them.

A bike bell for those in the know ;-), March 13, 2012
By Eric Mars (San Francisco, CA)
|
|
Urban commuter here in SF. The bell that came on my mountain bike was lame - the lever constantly stuck and just wasn't loud. Then I bought a highly regarded single-dinger and it was nice, but there's just no way it would be noticed in a loud urban environment.
My bike just happens to have a matte black with red accents color scheme so when this pic came up I clicked. There's a great mix of folks that have put these on their kids' trikes, and adults like me looking for something LOUD and durable. A bit confusing.
Well it came, and it's everything folks say. LOUD, and very, very, sturdy. Fit & finish are flawless. Makes sense, they built it like a tank because it has to withstand a toddler. In my case, it looks like it was custom built for the bike with the red/black. It does not look juvenile at all. I did peel the sticker off.
One more thing - Amazon lists the weight as "one pound" which may be putting off some cyclists. It really doesn't weigh any more than all but the smallest "real" bike bells. I think they rounded up.
I join the cult in recommending this safety device very highly. I've been buying a lot of stuff lately for my new bike, and this is the first thing that has really moved me to want to write, it's just SO much better than other stuff out there.

Super cute!, March 2, 2010
By S. Lee (Los Angeles, CA)
|
|
It's your old-fashioned, metal, very sturdy, red tricycle bell, just the way you've always imagined a red bike bell should be. It's loud, however, as our 7-month got scared at first and cried. Once I showed him how to use the bell, and we taught him that it was okay to use it outside, he loved it! Our son can't reach the pedals on his trike (yes, I know, but we were too excited about it), but we bought it anyway. He can't mount the trike by himself so he crawls to the trike and uses the bell to tell us he wants to go outside. I know, how does he know?!? We are contemplating the removal of the bell, hehe.

Great bike bell for a great price, March 1, 2009
By S. Cha (Los Angeles, CA)
|
|
After searching many bike stores and not finding a decent bell (and buying one that just fell apart the day I bought it), I finally searched online for a bell and found this one. Although bike bells seem like they're for kids, I find them really useful in riding around the busy roads of Los Angeles, especially when warning pedestrians in crowded areas.
This bell is very sturdy and rings loudly and is very easy to install. I've been very satisfied with this purchase and if anyone is looking for a bell, recommend this one highly.

Great bell, February 8, 2009
By B. Langford (Colorado)

|
I bought this bell along with a Kettler tandem insert. This bell is as well-constructed as other Kettler products. I thought my boys would fight over the front seat of the tandem, but because of this bell is on the second tandem they both want the back seat! I have a no-name bell in the front that looks like trash compared to the Kettler bell. I may have to replace the front bell because the Kettler bell is so much better. It's easy for little fingers to ring and is well constructed.

Lovely tone and fine functionality for a great price., October 26, 2008
By Technophile (New York)

I bought this to replace the cheap bubble horn on my son's bike. The Kettler Red Bell has a plastic mounting clip but the bell and clapper are metal and the sound is sweet and pure. My son has strict instructions to ring and announce when passing pedestrians on his bike and this functions very well. It's audible and easy for him to thumb while biking (he's 8). The bonus for me is that I don't have to listen to "blaaat blaaat" over and over, and instead get that lovely nostalgic "brrringgg brrringgg".

This is a very reasonably priced bicycle bell, with an old fashioned ring. I am using it to replace the prettier, difficult-to-ring bell, that I thought was really 'cute'. Cute But...Dinky - A Toy, April 18, 2012
By Flower Mouth (New York, NY)
|
|
This is adorable and there is nothing wrong with this bell...if you're riding a tricycle with parental supervision close at hand. I ride in the city and I'm a big girl now...I need a bell that really rings and this tiny red trinket doesn't do the trick. It is not nearly loud enough and the ring tone is sort of a dull 'brrring'. Sorry, just want to save others from buying if they are adults and are expecting a bell that can help alert and or chase errant pedestrians out of the middle of the road quickly. It's a safety issue for me, I can get seriously injured if I'm not able to effectively alert people that I'm coming along the path or street behind them.

It rings pleasantly, but loudly enough to be heard.
Red finish looks nice on my black folding bike.
When the bike is in my bumper carrier on a parking lot, lots of folks can't resist ringing it as they walk past, and everyone smiles when they do it. Where else can you make so much happiness for around twelve bucks total?

The bell seemed to work well for the first week or two, then for some reason the ringer sounds dull. It still rings, just doesn't have a good clear ring like it did. I would probably try another brand if I'd get another one since this one didn't seem to last.

Stay away if using for anything other than a child's toy, May 16, 2012
By Enlightener
|
|
I decided to buy this bell because I needed something that would catch the attention of joggers and walkers who use a local bike path that I ride on frequently. However, after using the bell for the past couple of days, I have to say that I am quite disappointed in its quality and functionality. To begin with, I was surprised to find that the bell is constructed largely out of a very thin plastic material which not only feels cheap but looks cheap as well. Furthermore, a bigger issue I found was that the bell actually makes sound by itself as a result of riding over bumps and rough terrain which becomes excessively annoying after a short period of riding over such surfaces. That being said, when rung, the bell makes a decently loud, traditional bell sound which I would characterize as a 'ring' rather than a 'ding' as some other bells create. Nevertheless, unless you plan to use the bell while riding only on glassy smooth roadways or bike paths, don't mind the incessant and spontaneous ding noises which occur during use on rough surfaces, or will just be giving this to your kid to play with, then I would urge you to save your time and money and purchase a different bell.

Classic, April 21, 2012
By Book_thyme

First, I am an adult using this product and while it is marketed for tricycles I still find the "antiquated" bell quite useful no matter the age. This bell has a clear, classic tone of the old school bicycle bells and is plenty loud. Easy to use with smooth lever for the quick "hi" to the long "please move to the side, thanks." It was very easy to install, I installed mine on the right side and merely use my index finger to sound the bell. Very nice and much better the bells I was seeing in Target or Walmart which sounded dull, plastic like, and didn't have a smooth lever.
