Awesome Bag!!!, June 9, 2008
By L. Rochester (S.C.)
|
|
I bought the Half Pint before going to Disney World with my daughter's fifth grade class at school & absolutely love it! It was the perfect size to carry around sunscreen, rain ponchos, a disposable camera, my wallet & cell phone. It was even a perfect fit for the net bags they have on all the rides to put your things in. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone!

The picture and description didn't match., November 2, 2008
By M. J. (Boston, MA)
|
|
I clicked on a picture of an all black bag and all it said was "black". When I received it, it had skulls and roses on it and the description on the invoice said that this was what I ordered. I went back in to see if I had made an error. I went up to the point of checkout and it automatically switches it from solid black to the bag with skulls! Be careful when you order, double-check the description before clicking checkout. The picture shows a solid black bag.

Great for a kid, August 10, 2009
By D. Birdwell (Texas)
|
|
This bag is too small to use for a backpack for school, a folder is too big for it. My toddler wanted a backpack and this backpack was perfect because it was classic (we do not like to buy things with Dora, Disney, Elmo, etc) and a perfect size for her to carry around. It could be used by someone older to carry around (the straps are adjustable) but don't expect to carry binders, folders or textbooks in it. It is stylish as well that will take her through years, I have a Jansport that I have had for 10 years or more, lasted all the way through college. I hated that they didn't have a solid pink or more solid colors available.

Jansport Mini backpack, February 12, 2009
By Just Jenn (El Paso TX)
|
|
This is the second one of these I have purchased. My toddler twin boys love carrying their own stuff, and this is the perfect fit for their tiny size. Can hold diapers, clothes and some toys or lunch. Quality is good, holds up in the wash, and the straps are easy to adjust as the kids grow.

Did not receive color I ordered...nor does the pic match now, October 3, 2008
By AL in DC

Overall this appears to be a decent little backpack and was the size I was hoping for. However, the color/pattern pictured when I placed the order was not at all what I received. THEN when I got online to double check...making sure I wasn't crazy...the picture had changed. The new picture was NOT the color/pattern I ordered NOR the color/pattern I receieved. Very deceptive. I returned te item.

Great backpack. Nice and compact and durable. Fast shipping. Would have liked to have seen better dimensions on website, their lack of sizing made it that I had to guess and it was smaller than I expected. But on the whole happy.

this is one of the item i sent to my daughter in the philippines..she said she uses the half pint backpack whenever she go out on a weekends, bec. its cute and she can put her personal things inside without the feeling that she's on her way to school, its like a fashion purse for her and i agree to that, she's a simple girl and i know she wants simple things..its a great backpack..thanks

Fabric thin, October 27, 2007

I thought that the fabric would have had more body to it, soft and thin
fabric is what the product turned out to be.
Product is well made though, Jansport products for the most part are
good quality.

A tiny backpack, good for small items only, October 16, 2011
By acidbasesalt

For those of you taller than 6 feet, don't even consider this backpack.
The straps are just not long enough for taller people.
However, the backpack is light and durable.
I use it to bring just a lunchbox, a decent sized water bottle (~500 mL), and a retractable small umbrella.

Turns out, this backpack was far smaller than we expected. I can see it being great for a day trip or something similar, but for daily use for a kid (and a small one at that), it's a tad too little. If you're looking for something small and portable, this is great.

Handy Backpack, October 8, 2011
By notanewyorker

This is the 2nd Half Pint I have owned. I basically wore my first one out. I can throw it in the washing machine and it comes out looking brand new. I use it as an everyday bag, and since I ride a scooter, it is incredibly useful. I'm just a bit disappointed that the very front pocket is now velco and not zippered, but I can live with it.

great bag, October 17, 2010
By ratherbtraveling

This bag is very cute. I bought it for my son to take to day care. He is 15 months old and loves to wear it on his back. Of course when he wears it, I only have a diaper or two in it, but when he isn't, I can put a change of clothes, diapers, wipes, snacks, books, etc. It holds more than I thought it would. We got the plain black, but the patterns are cute for a girl maybe!

Perfect little diaper bag and kid pack, March 22, 2010
By moxie mama
|
|
I am not a fan diaper bags that weigh a ton. I wanted a small and inexpensive but durable backpack so my hands could be free to care for my son. This JanSport pack is perfect! It's big enough for my small frame (I'm 5'2") and fits only what I need. The best part is that my son can carry this pack himself when he's able to walk. If you want something to store diapers, wipes, spare clothes, your wallet and a few other handy items, this it it.

Good quality small pack, January 17, 2010
By F. Wolven (San Diego, CA)
|
|
This is a handy little daypack, well made, and pretty, too. Be advised the straps are not padded like regular sized packs, so it wouldn't be comfortable loaded with heavy items. I wanted a smaller size just to carry a water bottle and essentials on long walks, and this fits the bill. It holds as much as a medium sized purse. I'm very happy with this purchase.

nice...but kind of cheap, December 28, 2009
By Jack's Mom (Wyoming)
|
|
This is a bag I bought for my 3 year old and it serves its purpose. He can wear it, put stuff in it, and be rough and tough with it and I think it will be fine. The straps are a little wimpy and don't shorten enough for him. He can still wear it, the straps are just a tiny bit too long. Also the zipper sticks a little. All in all it's a nice backpack for the price and I would probably buy another one if needed.

Cute, useful, but flimsy, May 13, 2009
By Formerly Belacane (Seattle Eastside)

I have a bunch of Jansport items in this pattern (white with lavender spots) and they all feel kind of flimsy. They're not lined, and the zippers feel a bit cheap. But I only use them for travel, which is once a year or less, and they are so inexpensive that even if they break after one trip, I don't mind.

Really cute!, June 13, 2008
By Angie (Nowhere)
|
|
This is a cute little backpack. I have a black one. It might look small but its actually quite spacious, you can fit a large water bottle plus many other items in the main compartment, and a bunch of other small-medium sized items in the front compartment. My only complaint is that the "cell phone" holder in the front isn't really a cellphone holder, its hard to connect the velcro once my cellphone is inside. It looks like it would be big enough to fit any cellphone but its not, you'd have to have a really flat cellphone to be able to close it easily. But thats okay I still love this backpack. Also, you'd think that since there is no padding on the straps that its uncomfortable, its not, at least not in short sleeved shirts.

This bag looks royal blue to me, doesn't it? Well no, the bag is the size of my head and it's PURPLE. Luckily my roommate loves purple and doesn't mind using a mini jansport so I gave it to her. They should put a better picture up and remind us of the size and how small it really is. They shouldn't forget to put the word MINI!

One of these was given to me a few years ago. It had been well used by then but still held up for two years of more rough use. When it finally gave out I was sad. I didnt have internet at the time and had no idea i could get another one until recently. I got mine yesterday and its all I remember my first one to be. Light weight, sturdy and small, but it still had the carrying convienince of a full size back pack. Excellent product.

Cute backpack but too small, December 21, 2011
By baby (CA)
|
|
When you look at the measurements keep in mind that this backpack tapers at the top. It might fit a checkbook wallet, small cosmetics bag and a small bottle of water comfortably. You can fit keys and a cell in the outside pocket. I can see how people liked it to carry to Disneyland or a theme park to carry just the essentials, but its just to small for someone like me. I like backpacks instead of handbags... I think the perfect size would be one inbetween this and a regular full sized backpack. Off to purchase the "Spring Break" style to see if that will work for me... unfortunately its also difficult to tell from the photos! Overall, again this is a really cute backpack, but best if you want a REALLY small bag!
I added a photo with the regular ones so you can see the size in comparison to a set of keys and a pair of reading glasses. If you have any questions about the photo feel free to ask. Hope it helps a little.

Love this backpack! We lost our previous Jansport backpack when my daughter went camping at school. I'm sooo grateful that dentalBookshop still sold the bag in black! It's very easy to use and wonderful for traveling! We take it on day trips to fill with snacks. The size is perfect . . .lightweight and easy to take around with you.

good basic mini-backpack, January 1, 2011
By veteran consumer (Tucson, AZ)
|
|
I got this half-size backpack because I needed something small and wearable to keep my stuff secure while caring for an active toddler at the park. This backpack does the job. It's well-constructed and tough, even after washing. The fabric is durable and the pockets are well-designed for a few simple items - for example, you can keep your phone and plastic cards separate from your bigger items. I've used the Jansport full-size bags and liked them, this one is a half-size version. It turned out to be a great hiking bag for short day hikes - I like to pack the absolute minimum I can get away with, so I appreciate its small size when I'm only going to be out on the trail for a few hours. My toddler grandson saw it and wanted one, and it's been a super school bag for him too. As a pre-schooler, he's got stuff he carries around, and this fits him to a T, and is tough and washable. There are tougher bags out there, but not at this price. For normal family use, I'd recommend it.

This is a true mini pack, good for day use. I got it for my sister and she uses it as a diaper bag. It can expand to be roomy, but the material is not great. String is constantly coming out and the cloth is not durable. They do not make Jansports like they used to. I wish it had a side pocket though.

Cute pack pack for a little one, November 30, 2010
By Leticia
|
|
I couldn't find a nice small back pack for my four year old in a store (other than some tacky, plastic princess ones) so I had to order online. It is quite small and won't hold too much...but it is great for a four year old (the name "Half Pint" it totally accurate). Not heavy at all so all the weight is what you put in. It does a great job of holding a Nintendo DS or portable DVD player and lots of snacks for trips. My daughter will be able to use this for a while and then I will buy the next size up JanSport (the "Spring Break" one I think).

This bag is great. I have only had it a couple of months, but it is working out great. I was looking for something to replace my diaper bag since we don't need to carry so much stuff with us anymore and this is almost perfect. The only reason I say "almost" is because I wish it had a pocket on the outside to put a sippy cup or water bottle in. Plus my 18 month old loves to carry it and wear it. It is the perfect size for her.

My Perfect Purse, October 29, 2010
By Linda797
|
|
I bought this to use as a purse. I have neck and shoulder problems and wanted to lessen the strain from a regular purse. I tried other types of "healthy back" bags, but they did not hang right from my shoulder. This fits everything I need and is made from a sturdy fabric. I was worried that the straps would be "child sized" but they are plenty long enough to be easily adjustable to fit a short or tall person. Like others have said, I would have preferred a padded strap rather than just a webbed strap, but it is not a real problem. I bought the black and look forward to getting a lighter color for spring. Great bag!

Great little pack!, October 20, 2010
By J. A. James (Phoenix, AZ)
|
|
This mini back pack was great for carrying my items (camera, lip gloss, wallet, tiny souvenirs) around at Disney Land. It fitted perfectly into the little baskets and pouches on the rides, was light on the back and cute. The only complaint was that the material seemed a little cheaper/flimsier than what JanSports regular back packs are made of. But you are not carrying big text books in it, so its really not a problem.

My 3 year old grand daughter likes the back pack. Its just right for her sized frame. Will really come in handy when she starts preschool this fall. We have never been disappointed with a JanSport back pack, this is our 4th, a couple are several years old and have been dragged to the beach, on several trips, on planes and one I used for a purse for 2 years, its still in good shape and still being used.

So I bought this item, not knowing the actual size of the backpack. So before i bought the backack i called amazon and asked about it. The man clearly explained that it was a NORMAL sized backpack. So i get the package, late. But no big deal.. I open it up. If you dont know what size it is either, let me tell you. Its about 9.5 inches tall, 6 inches wide. This is smaller than the backpack you'd see a toddler carrying around. Keep in mind that it was 24 dollars. I called amazon asked for a redund,
Sent the package. No refund adter 6 weeks.
Happy shopping.

Good all around day pack, May 26, 2012

If you're not into purses (like me!) this is a good substitute. I've had 3, all have stood the test of time. (I've had 3 because I like the different designs, not because they wore out.) When it gets dirty, just throw it in the washer and dryer. It's handy, and carries all your daily essentials. Just wish it had more organizational pockets like the smaller Dakine bags.

Perfect unobtrusive substitute for a purse -- leaves hands free, May 18, 2012
By Kathleen Warren

Perfectly fits my need for a roomy purse that leaves my hands free to pick up a cup of coffee, food, or brochures at an exhibit or fair, without the encumbrance of a purse strap that slips down inconveniently. For instances where I have to park blocks from my office, I have hands free to carry my briefcase and papers that don't fit in a purse. Good quality, good warranty.

Good for the size., May 9, 2012

First off this thing was too small for me when I got it, but I'm sure it be good for anyone who uses a half-pint backpack. Though it doesn't have a lot of extra storage space it makes a decent backpack for minimum books.

Great Daypack!, April 15, 2012

Perfect sized day pack for hikes or walks. Jansport has a lifetime guarantee, so if it needs patchwork they'll take care of it which is worth more than the value!

exactly what i was looking for.., October 11, 2010

This is exactly what I was looking for. I was tired of diggin around in my other purse. I was looking for something a little more versatile . I'm a single mom so I tend to carry extras. The front pockets are perfect for cell phone and your every items. The larger pocket is perfect for your wallet and planners etc... The straps are adjustable, you can just drape it over your shoulder or actually wear it like a back pack. Money well spent. I love it !!!!!!!!

Perfect for concerts/zoos/parks, September 23, 2010

This backpack really is a half pint! It's freaking tiny - which is perfect for what I needed it for. I keep my camera, snacks, drinks, and a couple other random things in there. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the straps. It's a purely personal preference of mine that the straps have some cushion to them. These straps are like spindly nylon strips. I think it really clashes with the rest of the bag but that's just me. The straps are enough to hold the bag and I guess that's what counts!

Not fond of the straps, July 11, 2010

The size is great for my toddler. The material seems durable and we love the design. My only complaint is the straps. My toddler has trouble easily putting the backpack on because of the design of the shoulder straps. She'll doesn't always get her arms through both straps.
