Nice idea in concept, but..., April 19, 2008

I bought one of these last week for carrying things on the back of my bike (I have a carrier mounted over the rear wheel). As one of the other reviewers noted, the four hooks aren't permanently attached to the bungee, there's just a smaller hook where the cord holds it. That might be a good thing, if it gives you more flexibility in moving the hooks. But in my case, as I was riding, I heard a "boing" sound and one of the hooks went flying off somewhere. So I returned the cargo net to the store. If the hooks were permanently attached instead, I'd say this was a great product.

Works for me, August 18, 2006

Good heavy duty nylon netting but the hooks are plastic and I'm not sure how they will hold up. So far so good. They are fairly thick. The net itself seems a bit big for using with a rear rack alone. My wife has the wald metal folding baskets on her bike and uses the cargo nets for those and they work great.

There is a simple solution for the plastic hooks... use caribeaners. You can pick up a set of 4 for less than $5 at any dept. store.

Good but failed on me, December 10, 2008
By J Bone

I bought this item a few months ago and liked it. I ride about 2 miles with my cargo. I keep the net on my bike always as I don't know when I will need it. The reason for my low score is one of the clamps must have broken. The entire net got wound around the back sprocket of my bike. It took an hour to get it unwound and the net is useless now. I am ordering another one to see if I have the same issue. Up to that point the product was sound but I didn't like walking my bike through some of the areas I had to to get home. It is not expensive so give it a try, but test it first. Amazon has a great return policy.

Delta Mega Rack Bicycle Cargo Net, May 27, 2009
By J. Miller

Net is sturdy & well made. Hooks are strong & don't scratch. It works pretty well at holding in most things I've tried. Still it was a bit expensive & the Amazon vendor gouged a bit on the shipping charges, I think.

Premium cargo net, April 29, 2009
By Mondoman (Seattle, WA)

I've got a Delta seatpost-mounted rear rack, and I was looking for a good-quality cargo net to securely hold my bike locks, small bag of groceries, etc.
This is it! It's not the cheapest, but it's very good quality. Here's what I like about it:
1) Good quality stretchy netting; the cord seems to be heavy-duty, about 1/8" in diameter. The cord is doubled around the perimeter of the net, which sees the most stress.
2) Durable plastic hooks. They can slide a bit along the cord, and the hooks are the perfect size to latch onto my Delta rack's rails. The hooks look quite robust, so I'm not worried about them breaking.
This definitely beats the bungee cords I had been using earlier!
PS - I've uploaded a couple of photos showing "normal/small" and "medium" loads in my use.

Pretty good., September 7, 2008

I like think I'm an average person. This net is for average people. It works well enough. Some complain about the plastic hooks. I think they're alright. They haven't broken yet. I haven't used any other nets before this one. I use mine with a plain bike rack. I like it.

Good Storage Option, June 23, 2008
By Alter (Los Angeles, CA USA)

I've used various methods for storing items while I ride such as backpacks, trunk bags, bungie cords and this is the best option so far. The only problem with a backpack is that it heats up your back. It can get very hot here in the summer and becomes uncomfortable. Now I put stuff in my backpack and strap it to my rack with this net.
Sometimes I just ride with my u-lock on my rack. In situations like that, I wrap the net around the rack twice so it stays on. Sometimes I ride to the beach with my backpack and a giant 2-person towel. This net expands to cover those items well. I can even ride with my backpack and a basketball. In other words, it is versatile. After I strap my stuff I always shake the bike to make sure it will stay on. No incidents have occured.
Some people have shown concern that the hooks are not permanetly attached to the net. This is true. I think Delta has it like that so you can remove or reposition them to your liking. As long as you keep it tightly wrapped this will not be a problem.
Conclusion: I wish I bought this sooner instead of wasting money on other methods. It is a cheap, effective, versatile way of organizing your stuff while you ride.
July 3, 2008 UPDATE:
I secured 2 packpacks (one containing books and one containing clothes) on the back of my bike with this net and after about 8 bumpy miles, I noticed that my stuff was hanging over the side of my bike (I was suprised all that weight didn't break the net). So I pulled over and readjusted it but moments later it again fell to the side. While I was fixing it again I was pulling on the net and it broke. One of the connections snapped.
I took the hook off and placed it somewhere else that was still in tact (only one part broke) and finished my ride. The net was stretched too much. This was a big, heavy load on my bike and I tighened it too much. Despite what happened, I still use the net to secure items on my rack.

Cargo Net, October 29, 2007
By jp (ca)

I love this thing. I bought it to cover a rear basket that I had purchased, and I use it way more by itself these days. This thing is great. I questioned the plastic hooks as well, but so far so good (I've had it for maybe 2 or 3 months). it's nice to be able to move the hooks and adjust for different things you're carrying. It's inexpensive and great quality. Highly recommended if you ever carry anything on your bike rack.

A Question Of Strength And Durability, September 8, 2010
By Prime

I purchased the Delta Mega Rack Bicycle Cargo Net as recommended by Amazon.com along with the Delta Mega Rack Post Haste Bicycle Seat Post Rack for use on my mountain bike. After much trial and error in figuring a way to secure my gear bag, containing as its heaviest item a quart bottle of Gatorade, I found the only method that prevented the entire bag from tipping over the side of the rack was for the bottle to be placed as far forward as possible, turned around so the thickest part, the bottom, was forward, and the forward edge of the cargo net's cords were wrapped double around the bottle. But I noticed this put a great strain on the cords and they were already starting to fray from my efforts, and together with the limitations of the rack itself, as I pointed out in its own review, I was forced to return both items.

Better Than Two Bungee Cords, But Get the Delta QuickBag Instead, May 25, 2010
By Damn Lies (Los Angeles, CA)

1. Plastic hooks can and do fall off. Replaced the hooks with metal carabiners but they rattled.
2. Netting comes undone after continued stretching
3. Delta Mega Rack Post Haste (I bought the net to use with the rack) lacks four secure hook points to secure the net
4. Takes too long to attach. Like bungee cords, you have to wrap/stretch/fidget for a few minutes before each ride to attach the net securely to the rack
I've been using the Delta QuickBag for two weeks. Yes, you have to limit your cargo to a bag the size of a large toaster, but now its "Press Click Click" to attach and "Click Click Rip (of the Velcro)" to detach. Quick. Easy. Secure. Quiet. Worry-Free. Just what I had wanted to accomplish in the first place!

Awesome, September 3, 2009

This cargo net is cheap but very useful. I mostly use it to secure my purse (wrapped in plastic bag) and lock+cable when I'm riding my bike. I bet I can hold a lot more things in it too...like textbooks in the future. Must buy!

Hooks not an issue for me, August 23, 2008
By T. Heibeck (San Francisco, CA, United States)

Simple device, a cargo net made from bungee cords. Some other people have mentioned that the removable hooks were an issue for them. I'm found during my use that the hooks stay in place quite well even when the net is not stretched out. In fact, I like the flexibility of being able to move the hooks around on the net, give you many more tie down options on the bike frame and rack. Overall this is a very handy device for hauling stuff on your bike.

Does the job, August 1, 2008
By Margaret Campbell (Washington DC)

A great little cargo net that does the job. I use it to fit over my Kettler rear bike basket, and it fits just fine. Has large mesh, so it's not for keeping small items in - this should mostly just be used for keeping large items from bouncing out of a basket, securing a bag to your rack, whatever.

Secure, February 26, 2008

I was looking for a simple cargo net for my bicycle and this just jumped off the screen. It's the perfect size for books, small grocery runs, you name it. Hooks are easy to use, bungee material is pliant but strong. I can't tell you how nice this product is. I would recommend this to anyone with a need for strapping down their stuff.

Working out very well., August 19, 2007

I've been using one of these badboys for months, and it does not even show any wear, despite being stretched to an insane degree multiple times. The hooks are plastic, but they've been Okay so far. It hasn't warped yet like some bungies and cords are wont to do. I'm very happy with this.
