4.0 out of 5 stars.  for the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash, August 18, 2008
By A casual stroll through the lu.. (Prague)
I got this for the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash Light. $5 + $5 s/h. $10 down the drain for a plastic part worth .50c . No instructions. Made in China, cheap plastic, screws. Hope it will last long but I needed it.

It fits only on a reflector groove on the rear Bicycle Rack. I had to remove the rear red reflector to put this on. It stays tight so I'm not wary of having a $25 Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash Light falling off due to some bumps. Flashes good at night.

It's held up after 5 months of riding and the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash looks bright from the rear (not sides).

In all, very handy if you have a rear Bicycle Rack, plus put another Bicycle Tail Light under the seat post as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great, March 22, 2008
By Jeffrey Stanley (Wichita, KS United States)
Works great. I've used it for several thousand road-miles with a superflash. You do need to have a rack that is designed for tail light mounting to use it. The mount has held up well and the light is much more visible on the back of the rack instead of the seatpost. PB should include this with the light, but it is well worth $5.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  works OK, but not well packaged, March 26, 2011
By Nikwax (Portland, OR United States)
I bought this to attach my BP tail light to my Topeak Super Tourist rack. The hole pattern in the bracket exactly matches the hole pattern on the rack's bracket. All good there, though just a note that the bracket in this situation ends up reversed....the light clips in snugly, fortunately.

However, the PB bracket comes with zero instructions. OK, it's not rocket science to figure out, but I do think that any product that needs to be installed should at least come with a diagram. Next, fasteners: while there are four holes in the bracket, you get two bolts, two lock washers, two nuts, and an assortment of washers in various sizes. No idea what the extra washers are meant for. And I guess with four holes I might have gone with four bolts/nuts/lock washers. I can always go to the hardware store to fill the vacuum that nature abhors.

Last point: aim is very critical with any light, and especially with LED lights which are very directional. The seat post bracket that PB supplies with their lights allows for this adjustment, but the rack bracket does not, so you may end up with a misaligned tail light.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  It is what it is, July 24, 2009
By DCwom
The mount does what its supposed to do. It fit my rear rack just right, but beware that the flasher slides in from the top so you need access through the top of the rack to mount & un-mount the flasher. If you have panniers or some other thing blocking access from the top you can't get to flasher into the mount.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  need another part to mount bracket to rack, December 30, 2009
By ji3m
Tail Light Bracket- When I looked at the package it looked like it needs another part---Yup it sure does (not included)--- so I could mount it to the rear rack- WELL YOU DO- so I need to go and buy it at hardware store so I can get it to work--- SOOOOOO not all hardware is included. The description should say you need to get another piece of metal --- That's why i bought the taillight bracket: to attach it to the rack-- not to attach it to another bracket which u then attach to the rack

OH well- ZIP ties are cool to

Not cool to have to get extra parts, which is why i bought this in the fist place

you can see what the extra part looks like by going to Planet Bikes web site and look at the taillight rack bracket photos-L shaped piece of metal

5.0 out of 5 stars.  BUY IT - Planet Bike Taillight Bracket, July 28, 2009
By Dakotamax2 (San Jose, CA)
Sturdy, easy to attach, works exactly as advertised and holds the Planet Bike Taillight securely to the rear rack on 2 of our bikes. Works best when the bracket can be mounted to the extreme end of the rack or by re-tasking the rear reflector bracket/arm as a mounting point. On one bike, we have a welded steel one-piece rack/basket that has a projection over the mounting point (similar to Wald 520 Rear Baskets 13.5" x 6.25" x 11" Silver.109227). This condition required that I remove the face of the light (as if to replace the batteries), mount the back portion of the light to the bracket, and then re-install the front portion of the light. This is a slight hassle, but once the light is mounted we just leave it in place unless we feel the need to remove it when locking the bike in public.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Kind of expensive for what it is..., July 19, 2009
By Bike Nut (Zebulon, NC USA)
But worth it for not having to "gerry" rig a mount to a rack.
I mounted this on my Surly Nice Rack and it works awesomely. You can't use the included nut though, but the boss on the rack is threaded, and while tight, it works wonderfully. Very solid, albeit subtle, feeling when I cut my Superflash on for the morning commute.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  It works but why isn't this cheap part included free?, October 10, 2010
By E. Carbone (United States)
This bracket is more or less a necessity if you want to securely attach a Planet Bike "blinky" to the rear of the rack. However, it does not necessarily fit perfectly to all racks. You do need to make sure you have a standard reflector mount holes (most racks do, but not all). So long as the holes align, it mounts easily and will hold the Planet Blinky rear light securely. No problems with the light falling off. I do think that the price (more than $5) is a bit steep considering that it's a small piece of plastic and a few screws. A couple of bucks would be more appropriate -- especially if you have to pay for shipping, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  A sturdy solution, August 17, 2008
By Fred Davidson (Urbana, Illinois, USA)
One of the difficult things cyclists face is safety to the rear. We need to be visible to drivers at night -- and the current tradition is a red light. Some riders like to have it blink (I do). Some have it on constantly. If you put a rack on your bike and carry stuff, then the traditional location for the blinkie (the seat post) is often blocked. Enter the PB tail rack bracket. I mounted this on my Blackburn rack on my commuter, and it is a superb solution -- my PB #5 rear blinkie fits fine. The PB bracket is very sturdy, and my tail light does not wobble or feel that it will come off, at all. The bracket is designed such that the light (once mounted) sits somewhat below the top of the bracket, so neither the light nor the bracket interfere with loads on the rack itself. I have one minor complaint. The bracket comes with four holes and sufficient nuts and bolts. The heads of the nuts and the bolts fit the recesses in the bracket. That's all fine. My rack came with a metal l-shaped bracket that I had to adapt to fit this (no problem there, and not PB's responsibility), but it aligned only with the two vertical holes in the center if this PB bracket. I used some zip ties to grab the outer two holes on this bracket. I think PB should include some small zip ties with the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Attaches Light Securely To A Rear Rack, April 19, 2011
By L. Dyer
Attaches the Planet Bike Blinky "3" 3-Led Rear Bicycle Light securely to the rear taillight mount on a Topeak Explorer rack. Allows the rear light to be set to the proper angle and keeps it from vibrating around (lost the first rear blinky I purchased due to it vibrating off the rack when using the clip mount included with the light). It would have been better (and less expensive) for me to purchase the Planet Bike 3018-1 Rack Blinky 5- 5 LED Tail Light with Rack Mount and Batteries which includes the rack mount hardware.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  You don't need this, May 25, 2011
By John Gilbert (Sammamish, WA USA)
I did not buy one of these.
If you have a rack with a flat plate on the top, (several are that way, including the PB rack), go to Home Depot and buy 1 inch of wooden dowell which is about the size of the seat post. Then drill a hole in the flat plate on the rack and screw the dowell to the underside of the plate. You can then attach the light clamp to the wood in the same manner as you would to the seat post.
When I did this, I off-set it so that it is to the left side of the rack. This enabled me to leave the reflector on the back of the rack and have the PB light right next to it.
I was also able to adjust the angle of the light.
Cost: 10 cents.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  good product, October 10, 2008
By stu 62
I have yet to put mine on my rear rack however, it will do the job nicely once I do. Something to remember, get the "planet bike" tail light as other tail lights "will not" fit this bracket. Other than that the product I think is worth the extra effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Serves its purpose, August 26, 2011
By geek, car buff, and dad (Brazil, IN)
Easy to install and allows use of the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash Tail Light. I purchased three of these; one is for my bike and two are on the back of our Burley bike trailer. I have two Super Flashes. When riding solo, one is on the back of the bike, and when riding with the little one, both lights are mounted on the trailer for extra visibility.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Fits most, but not all, bike luggage racks, July 31, 2010
By William Tetzlaff
Since I have three bikes, in three different places, I am rating this tail light bracket for the third purchase. Bike lights attached near the seat, and on the side to the frame somewhere, are not very visible, and may be totally obscured by the stuff being carried on a luggage rack. They are also susceptible to damage of one sort or another on the side. I am also not the first person to have lights stolen from a a bike, so I want to pocket them before I go into a store, after locking the bike.

This bracket allows Planet Bike tail lights to be attached at the very back of the luggage rack, where it is most useful, and in addition allows it to be taken off easily. The pattern of holes allows for mount on many, but not all, bike luggage racks. I loved it on the first bike I put it on, and then bought another for the detachable luggage rack I have on the back of my mountain bike. Then I bought a third for the last bike I use, but discovered that the Trek bike luggage rack does not have holes at the back to mount it. I was certainly disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  One More For The Road, June 6, 2011
By CDB (Phoenix, AZ)
I bought this at the recommendation of Dan at Portland Design Works (PDW) to use with my PDW Payload Rack and PDW DangerZone Taillight. It's a sturdy, well-made bracket that adjusts easily and mounts the light in perfect alignment. In fact, with the two extra holes, I ended up getting a couple of small round 1" reflectors with wingnuts that fit nicely on either side! It's an excellent product!

Nice little mount for a rack. Mounted easily on my ToPeak Explorer bike rack. Just a tiny bit of play between the mount and the light. I'm not sure it could get much tighter without the light getting stuck in there permanently.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Does what it's supposed to., August 21, 2010
By PDF (PA, USA)
I needed to move my Superflash Stealth Tail Light from the seat post to the rear of my rack. The rack included an inverted 'T' for a mount, but I still needed a mount for the lights specific bracket and zip ties were not an option.

The hardware fits. The bracket securely holds the light with it a positive lock (which is good). The only thing that would have make this a 5, not a 4 is that you have to use a washer, a lock washer, then a nut. A washer and a self locking nut would be nicer.

... but not Performance Bike's ViewPoint Flashpoint Ultra Taillight (similar to Superflash, but much cheaper) (the light's clip isn't wide enough by about 1/16" at the top, 1/8" at bottom, and the catch hole is off by about 1/8").

4.0 out of 5 stars.  This didn't answer all my problems., March 9, 2012
By Ray
The tail light bracket didn't answer all my problems when I needed to add a tail light to my bike rack but it did help. I had to make a L bracket to drill into the rack itself and then I could attach this tail light bracket. It would be nice if this company would offer a L bracket to its kit. I also had to use a zip tie to lock the light onto the bracket because when I check it for movement after I had mounted it on the rack it kept coming loose and I worried it would the same on the trails I ride on.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  2 out of 4 failed, February 18, 2012
By Robert Gary Valiant
I purchased four of these for my family's bikes. In less than a year, two out of the four have failed. On each of the failures, one side of the channel that holds the light broke off. These failures occurred in smooth street riding only. Perhaps I received examples from a bad plastic batch - certainly possible, however, I wouldn't recommend these.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy and does the job, January 25, 2012
By A. M. Garcia (Austin, TX)
Works well for what it is. I feel like my taillight is super-secure. Only negative is the removal tab is not as well designed as it could be.

For reference, works great with the Portland Design Works Danger Zone. My LBS didn't have the Superflash when I went in, so I purchased DZ instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works Great!, October 6, 2011
By soldierblue72
This bracket works great on the rear carrier of my 1983 Schwinn Voyageur touring bike. It went on the stock rear reflector mount with no problems. The tail light is below the plane of the carrier, so it doesn't interfere with luggage or packages. I have bought Planet Bike lights and gloves and really like the brand. Amazon.com shipped the orders quickly, too.
