Not worth your money, January 29, 2007
By Shaq Attack haha

The Sony component cables are $19.99 and cover you under their warranty, and are of the same quality as these monster cables (or as any other component cable). Don't waste your money.
(also, don't be a moron and tell sony you are using 3rd party cables)

Overpriced, but great quality, March 6, 2007

If you can't get HDMI, then Component A/V Cable is the way to go. I have the Monster Game Component A/V Cable for PS2 and it is the same except mine is blue (since blue is the PS2 theme color) and it works on all of the PlayStations since 1997. I would recommend that anyone looking to buy HD cables for their PS3 get a regular brand HDMI cable (Philips is perfect at just $33) or a Sony Component A/V Cable ($14.95 compared to Monster Game's outrageous $59.99!!!!!). Monster Cable's prices are just daft!

great cable but some strange problems..., January 2, 2007
By A. Stone (C.V., California)

I waited over a month after the ps3's launch to buy this cable from amazon. It is extremely rare and I've never even seen in in an actual store. Anyways, I purchased this cable because my new 19 inch Samsung lcd hdtv only has a dvi input. I didn't feel like using an hdmi to dvi cable and an additional audio cable so I tried this cable. The quality of the blue-ray movies looks just as good as my larger, 32 inch samsung lcd hdtv with hdmi. I did notice something unsual however while playing games. All the dark images in all my games were noticeably darker, like 25% darker than when I was using the hdmi cable. I hooked this component cable up to my bigger lcd and it had the same effect. There were a few parts of some levels in Resistance where I could barely see. Even the menus in Resistance were darker than they should of been. I had the same results with Ultimate Alliance as well. I really can't think of any reason for why this is happening. Both my tv's are Samsungs, maybe this has something to do with it? Build quality for this cable is exceptional. The cable itself is massive, 10 feet long and about .4 inches in diameter. I like how it splits off into five connectors at the last 8 inches of the cable. When connected to the the tv's, it's very well hidden and only the primary .4 inch thick cable is visible. Overall, great cable but the darkening of games does get rather annoying sometimes.

Buy Monster Cable PGL400 CVAA-10 GameLink $10, same product., September 17, 2007

Monster cables are excellent if you are looking for the absolute best for your all your home entertainment needs. But, they are super expensive unless you are smart about your shopping. The Monster Cable PGL400 CVAA-10 GameLink is not listed as PS2 component cable in the amazon search so it will never come up, but it is the same exact product as this except it is blue since it was released for the PS2 which has the same connector as the PS3. Lifetime warranty on these cable for $10!Monster Cable PGL400 CVAA-10 GameLink

Get this Product !!!, January 3, 2010

I am absolutly blow away by this product. Now that it is only a few dollars more then the sony brand there should be no reason not to buy this product!
I have two PS3's now (one is my dads). On my TV I can run HDMI, but on my fathers TV it is slightly older TV that doesn't have HDMI inputs. When I orginally bought my PS3 I also bought the sony component cable to hook up to my dads tv (because its bigger than mine) and when I used it I was getting diagonal lines running through the tv at all resolution levels. Now using the monster component cable lines are gone and high resolution looks just as good as if it were running with hdmi.
I am completely blown away from by this product and how much of a difference a monster cable does. I always said other cheaper brands are just as good as monster cable... sadly I am going to say it does make a difference in this case. And the price difference is negible now too so there should be no reason to buy the other brands.
The cable itself is about 8 feet long, and about 1/2" thick (not joking the thing is a lot thicker then most power cords), has the 3 component male ends with two stereo audio RCA cables that are all run as a single cord for most of the lenght. Just be carefull when connecting as there are two red coloured wires but slightly different pattern of colouration. The connections were nice and tight and found a slight turn and push method worked the best for getting them in. Perfect fit into the back to the PS3.
I am running optical cable Mediabridge - Toslink Cable - Optical Digital Audio Cable - 15ft for sound so I don't know how the sound is with this cable.
If you need to run component for the PS3 this is the perfect item.

Next best thing to HDMI, January 7, 2009

If your TV has HDMI inputs you are barking up the wrong tree but for those of us with slightly older HDTVs these monster brand component cables are the way to go. Monster cables are always heavy duty high quality and these are no exception. they give perfect picture up to 1080i. if you want your games and blu-ray movies to look as good as they can you owe it to your eyes to upgrade your video cables. If you have a newer 1080p HDTV you really should go HDMIPlaystation 3 Monster Cable GameLink HDMI Digital Video/Audio Cable

Go With The Sony Brand, July 20, 2008
By D. Soler
|
|
Unfortunately, I purchased the Monster brand Component Cable for my PS3 because I did not have enough HDMI connections on my TV. The PS3 worked flawlessly with the HDMI cable, but when I switched it over to the Monster Component Cable it would cause a constant LOUD buzzing sound as well as horizontal lines going up and down the screen. My advice: Go with the Sony brand if you're going to purchase a component cable.

Honest Review on Monster Component PS3 Cable, March 17, 2010
By Marcelo (Northern Virginia)
|

Well, I bought the Slim PS3 120 gig last week, It was hard to find where I live, and I knew going in that it only had composite a/v cord, so I did what any tech guy would do, I ordered some friggin cables.
I bought a HDMI cable cheap from amazon.com that 4 dollar one that is so popular on here, I bought a Optical Cable for Digital Audio. Once again from here. Then I thought I was good to go, little did I know PS3 and Samsung tv's dont match well when it comes to HDMI, my HDMI connection doesn't work, so I bought this cable, (Monster Component PS3 cable) I chose this one instead of the one made for the ps3 which the seller also carries, but I decided to buy the monster because retail wise this one cost 50 bucks vs. 30 retail for the ps3 brand component cable. So I figured the more expensive the more quality. Well I dont know how good the component cable for the ps3 brand is, but this Monster Component cable works AMAZINGLY. The difference between Composite and Component cables are like night and day. The picture is so much vivid and a feast for the eyes. I also own a xbox 360 which is connected to my HDTV via component cable aswell and I must say the PS3 looks allot more Sharper for HD Gaming at least for playing the only game I play for the PS3, Socom Confrontation, wow, its very sharp. I love the graphics and the smoothness of the picture. I would Recommend this cable to anyone that wants HD Gaming and cant get HDMI to work with their HDTV and PS3 or that dont have a HDMI Input on their TVs. The Picture quality is amazing, I cant review on the sound of the cables which I think come with the cable patch, I just use the video aspect of the cables, I use Sony's Optical Cable (toslink) for my PS3s Audio with my Surround Sound System. Great Combo, Component Video and Optical(toslink)for Audio.
So If you want a good cable buy this one, its only 11 bucks with shipping included.

Top-notch product, September 26, 2009
By Philly fan

I bought this product a few weeks ago and I have been very impressed. If you use the composite cable that comes with the Playstation 3 and then switch to this cable, the difference will be like night and day, even with a standard definition TV. You will see a drastic improvement in the picture and audio quality. The picture will be much clearer and the colors will be much brighter and more vivid. This cable is also extremely well shielded so you will have little to no interference. For example, with the component cables I had before I got this product, there would be distortion and lines going up the screen if I had my PS3 on at the same time as my PC. However, this interference completely disappeared after I started using this product.
In short, if you want to get the most out of you PS3's visual and audio capabilities but don't have HDMI inputs on your TV, Monster Cable's Playstation 3 component cable is the way to go.

Awesome, no problems, April 10, 2007

I have never had any problems with this cable; it is awesome. The image is crystal clear and very crisp. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you buy this cable over a very cheap MadCatz/Intec/similar HD component cable; they are cheaply made and won't work.
Bottom line, 10/10.

A new world, March 4, 2012

I had no idea what I was missing out on with a CRT TV and a composite cable. I thought the text in any of my games would be forever blurry to the point of not being able to clearly read it. When I got myself an HD TV/monitor to use for school I needed to get a component cable to be able to continue using my PS3. With the variety of cables on Amazon I wasn't quite sure which one to get. The cheaper ones apparently had no ends of problems and in my past experience, cheap stuff sucks; the canon Sony cables are a bit on the expensive side.
As for the cable, it's called a monster for a reason; it's a thick sucker! Heavy-duty and not apt to break easily. I noticed that during installation (which is so basic I think you'd have to be skilled at not being able to understand how to match colors), the plugs fit snugly making them less apt to come off for almost any reason. It doesn't come 'naked' as the picture suggests; it comes in that type of secure packaging that is moderately annoying to get into; similar to those things that require a pair of sharp scissors or a package knife to cut around the edges to get to the stuff inside.
Game play has improved far beyond my expectations. What was blurry and hard to read is crisp and amazingly easy to read. Colors are more vibrant as well. Overall my gaming experience has been .... wow. I'm still picking up bits of my mind that was blown away the first time I turned my PS3 on.
Highly recommended!!!!

A well made product., July 20, 2011
By Jman

Playstation 3 component cables, made by Monster cable. Allows HD playback without an HDMI cable, though not full 1080p. 720p or 1080i.
-The reason I needed these, is because I record gameplay using an HDPVR as well as a capture card. The way I have things set up, I use the HDPVR for the PS3 and my Xbox360 for the time being, and the HDPVR does not accept HDMI input(or output for that matter), so I needed component cables to capture gameplay. The reason I chose these particular ones instead of the ones made by Sony, or some random/universal console component cable, is because they're Monster Cables.
This is not to debate whether or not Monster cables make a difference or not, you can do that elsewhere.
1)Whether or not they provide better picture is moot. They DON'T provide worse picture.
2)They're made extremely well, and are not going to fray, break, twist, crack etc etc from being behind the home theatre, bent in weird angles and subjected to the heat all my equipment produces.
3)Lifetime warranty/upgrade warranty, no different than ANY other monster product.
The simple fact is, using Monster cables for your A/V needs won't instantly make your experience better. What you're buying when you buy monster, is a quality product. Not some piece of junk cable strung together with the cheapest materials suitable for the job, but a precision made cable, using exact length copper wire, gold plated, split toothed connections for a great connection, now and ten years from now, and then coated in a extremely durable yet incredibly flexible outer shell to not only provide protection from damage, but to shield the cable from any interference. Does that make your blu-ray look better? Probably not. But Im the type of person who can't hook up a 4 dollar cable to expensive equipment.
This cable in particular looks real sharp, which is always a bonus. The cable is very flexible and doesn't hold a curl or get tangled. The only thing you may find you don't like, is how snug the connections are. Personally, I prefer it. It pretty much guarantees that the cable won't be ripped out of your TV, and you'll have the best contact possible inside the TV.
Don't buy this expecting your PS3 to instantly put out better graphics then your old component cables. BUT, if you need to use component hookups(ie: dont have a full HD TV, or want to use an inline PVR), AND you appreciate a well made product and don't mind spending that bit extra to get the better product, then this is a good cable.

im using this monster component cable for my ps2 and i looked and sounds great. for the record, this monster brand cable will drive your gaming to the next level. but it is kinda challenging to get then in/out the HDTV jacks, but anyways it's a good cable. so replace your standard av cable (that came with your ps3/ps2) with monster component cable.
p.s thumbs up for monster and THX

I've had both the Playstation version of this cable and the Monster version and both provide good image quality but I do believe the Monster cable does a little better on the sound. Even though it's not high def the sound seemes a little better than what a normal cable can provide.

Pretty simple: this cable performs awesomely on both HDTV's and SDTV's that have component inputs. I was also surprised that it didn't cost me quite as much as a typical Monster cable (which are all WAY overpriced in stores).
Anyway, it's a good cable.

My HDTV has periodic flashes where the screen goes black with this cable. It's fine for rpgs and such, but really annoying for sports games and shooters. I tested another cable, so it's definitely this defective cable's fault. It's cheap, but get something that works.

Monster specializes in cables and these cables were a steal for the price at the time. These cables worked great and great build quality and materials (gold tips). my friend connected these cables to his ps3 and his 40" Sony bravia 1080p was able to play games at 1080i. These cables are definitely worth it. The only minor con : Me and my friend wish they cable with instruction or some labeling. It took us like 15minutes to get the right combination (there are 2 blue cables.)
