5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent heart rate monitor, July 21, 2009
By Stephen M. Charme (central New Jersey)
I have used this with my Garmin Forerunner 305, Forerunner 50, and Forerunner 405cx. Just wet it with saliva or water before you start, and it accurately and easily tracks your heart rate. The strap that attaches it to your chest is easily adjustable and easily removable. Unlike other products, my heart rate does not "jump around" 10 or 20 beats. The battery lasts a good amount of time and is easily replaceable. This is the best heart rate monitor that I have used, and I prefer it to Polar.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Garmin heart rate monitor for Edge 305, October 7, 2009
By C. Riggs (Albuquerque, NM USA)
Works as advertised, no problems. This is a replacement of my first one that the seal (o-ring type) in the battery compartment failed, causing the battery to corrode due to moisture leaking. Then it never worked again. Be careful changing batteries not to damage the seal.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Easy to use, works great, October 20, 2008
By A. C. Hill (San Francisco, CA United States)
I got the Forerunner 405 as a gift, but without the HRM. I got this as an add on, but it worked seemlessly. I put it on and it synched immediately without having to really do anything on the device. Still figuring out all of the features, but the combo is highly recommended (I run and cycle).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Accurate!, November 12, 2008
By T. Puckett (Texas)
I was very excited when I saw the ad for the Garmin Forerunner 405 and couldn't wait to get one. Unfortunately, when I went to make my purchase, the store only had the Forerunner 405 without the heart monitor in stock. To get the full benefits of my new Forerunner 405, I knew this was something I wanted to try.

When my Garmin Heart Rate Monitor came in, I immediately paired it with the Forerunner 405. Pairing was a breeze. I then put it on and wore it for a few minutes to check its accuracy (I wanted to be certain of its accuracy before I adjusted my run workouts based on the results). Suffice it to say, I was more than pleased with the results! It has become a constant companion to me along my runs.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple, and reliable., October 18, 2008
By S. Downs (Austin, TX USA)
The HRM is simple and easy to use. It picks up my heart rate everytime - quickly. I use it to send info to the Garmin Forerunner 405. When I put on the HRM, the 405 announces the connection in no time.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Comfortable and accurate with my Edge 500, April 9, 2010
By Just a guy (Westchester, NY)
This is a great HR monitor and it paired easily (didn't have to do anything) with my Edge 500. It seems accurate and doesn't have any of the wild spikes I saw with my much older Polar HR monitor.

Most importantly, it is comfortable and doesnt leave any marks once adjusted correctly.

I reduced by one star because the strap is fairly short. I am not overweight (size 40 jacket) and I had to make the strap within 2" of its max for this to fit comfortably. Larger folks might have an issue.

Although the strap is very elastic, if it is stretched too tight it will leave marks and hurt.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Garmin HR strap, May 5, 2010
By atcguy (Livermore, CA)
I bought this to pair with a new Garmin Edge 500 for cycling use. This was much cheaper than buying the Edge Bundle as I did not also want cadence. The strap works great with the Edge but installation was a little tricky. The Edge has to be "paired" with the HR strap but I was able to figure it out.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great., June 23, 2009
By BGK^2 (Riverside, CA)
I just turned on my 405 (held the "training" button) and it was recognized before it located satellites... It takes a bit getting used to wearing the strap around your chest, but it provides very good info... It is encouraging to see I can do the same run at a faster pace, with a lower average heart rate!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Just what I needed for my Garmin, May 5, 2009
By RoadBikePete (Los Angeles)
My bicycle Garmin 305 came with a cadence monitor... I really like this GPS device for my road bike and only recently did I become interested in adding the HRM strap. It comes ready to use, just be sure to set up your Garmin to work with the Heart Rate Monitor... it's a few menus into the device, but once I set the function and changed my displays to show - speed, elapsed time, altitude, heart rate on my main screen, it was all good to go.

Reasonable price, replaceable battery included, works with my Bicycle Garmin 305.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid Product, February 1, 2010
By The Slab (BUTLER, PA, US)
I have been using a Garmin heart rate monitor for four years now and find that this strap works very well. It may seem, or look, a little bulky but it is quite comfortable and really is a fairly compact design. I only had to replace it because of my own error in replacing the battery. There is a small rubber gasket that seals the battery compartment. Make sure that this is seated correctly when closing it back up or your sweat will get inside and corrode the internals. This new strap actually seems to pick up my heart rate better than the previous generation.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works Flawlessly, October 30, 2010
By Intelligentsia
I recently purchased this heart rate transmitter to use with the Digifit Connect to transmit heart rate data to my iPhone 4 and this transmitter is great. Although the straps surrounding the electrodes are plastic, they are very durable and I experience 0 discomfort.

I have been using this transmitter daily and have not had experienced any erratic readings, nor have I experienced a need to utilize electrode gel.

For the cost and reliability of this unit, it can't be beat.

I highly recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  could not figure it out, December 30, 2009

I am not a stupid person, but I really do not understand this piece? I thought it went around arm. I now see it is fro around the chest. I still can not figure out where to find the HR.
It may be I am just very unfamiliar with this product, but we will be returning it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The Best Strap For my Garmin Forerunner 305, June 17, 2011

5.0 out of 5 stars.  works great w/digifit connection dongle, February 3, 2011
By mbx
Have used this for about 10 workouts so far, and haven't had any problems connecting w/Digifit Connect: Digital Wireless Fitness and Health Accessory for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad (bought w/this heart rate monitor). Seems accurate, I had the sensor placed too high on my chest once, but after relocating worked fine. I'd highly recommend. Don't have any other accessories, but based on this product wouldn't be afraid to buy them.

I bought the heart monitor because my previous stopped working when I did not get the battery cover back right and my sweat corroded the inside. This new one worked out of the box and is as utilitarian of a product as there can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple and solid, January 24, 2010
By NOV8TR (Santa Barbara, Ca.)
This unit paired with a Garmin Forerunner 305 is the cornerstone of my fitness routine. The heart monitor is adjustable and comfortable. It is reliable (consistent readings), and so far has proven to be durable. It is important to wet the area of the skin where the sensors touch before you start to sweat (otherwise you will not get accurate readings until after you work up a good sweat). I would recommend this product to a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works well, January 16, 2010
By A. Turissini (Kansas City)
Works very well with the Garmin Forerunner 405. I am not crazy about having a strap around my chest while running, but that is the price you have to pay to have a heart monitor. Paired right away with the Garmin unit and, unlike the Garmin, the battery is replaceable.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid, Simple, and Reliable, October 6, 2009
By T. Ready
Purchased the Garmin Heart Rate Monitor recently to replace an older Polar product. The Polar HRM, which I've owned for over 5 years, recently died. Replacing the battery was ineffective.

The Garmin has a replaceable battery and it immediately (once moisture was applied to the receptors) and simply paired with my Garmin 305. It is of solid construction and reliably transmits heart rate information to the 305.

I have this paired with my Garmin Forerunner 405. Works perfectly. It's easy to put on, stays put when I'm running (and I sweat a lot). Only problem is, it makes me skin a little itchy on my sides. I'm not sure why. Maybe i have it on too tight?

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Garmin Heart Monitor, February 26, 2009
By runner with a reason (Eau Claire, WI)
I really like the Garmin system. I'm training for a half marathon this spring and I love getting all my stats so easily. The only thing I was disappointed with is the elastic strap is way too big for me. I can purchase a smaller one but I feel like different sizes should be included. This strap will be big for most women. I've pinned it and that seems to be working fine.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Be careful!, July 15, 2011
By Kiki (Fenton, MI)
No matter what I did or tried, it would not sync to my Garmin. It doesn't indiciate which Garmins it's compatable with. I have an older model, but didn't see why it wouldn't work...it's a Garmin heart monitor after all!! I absolutely love my Garmin Forerunner 301 and am completely bummed I cannot find a replacement heart monitor. I will be sending this back.

No issues using with Wahoo ANT+ and iphone. The only issue I have had is the Runkeeper app does not accuratly show your HR, but the Wahoo app does. I believe this is an app issue and not a Garmin issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Pleased!, September 26, 2011
By R. P. Majka (Jacksonville FL)
This is my second heart rate monitor that I have purchased on Amazon and it should have been my first! This works awesome right out of the box. I is VERY simple to set up. It only took a couple of minutes to do it and most of that was typing in the necessary information just to identify myself. I have synced this with my Withings scale and it integrated the data flawlessly. This is the way to go!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  A few things if you're buying as a replacement belt, September 22, 2011
By djembe drummer (Oregon)
I bought this as a replacement for the first Garmin heart rate monitor which needed to be replaced as it had internally corroded (importance of the o ring). When we first tried to sync the newly arrived monitor to the 305 Forerunner, it wouldn't do so. Looking on the User's Manual I discovered that I had to go through a series of steps to get it to work. They are:
From the menu button, go to SETTINGS.
Then, go to GENERAL.
Then, go to ACCESSORIES.
At this point you want to make sure that the heart rate is turned on by "yes". Click RESTART SCAN and immediately it began reading the heart rate.

Overall, my wife and I find the Garmin Forerunner and accessories (heart rate and cadence) very satisfying.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Mostly Good, September 17, 2011
By John Juan (Salt Lake City)
The heart rate function is fine.

My only complaint is that the strap eventually
stretches and has to be shortened to keep it
from sliding down your chest (it has to either
be sewn shorter or shortened using safety pins).

But i found that you can buy a new strap on Amazon
for $11 so no big deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Garmin Heart Rate Monitor ANT +, August 8, 2011
By AVPhile (Texas)
I needed an HRM that was ANT + capable and was not too expensive. Garmin HRM with ANT + turned out to be the answer to my quest. This HRM was quickly recognised by Wahoo Fitness iPhone App on my iPhone 4. I am using Wahoo Fisica attachment for iPhone. I compared my daily workouts with the Timex T5G981 HRM watch and was happy that the calories expended during my workouts were similar. I very satisfied with and highly recommend this HRM with the Wahoo Fitness app and Fisica attachment for iPhone.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A great investment for your health!!, July 8, 2011
By MAC (Yonkers, NY)
I am an owner of the Garmin 405, and received the soft strap heart monitor as a gift, but it never synched with the watch. I contacted Garmin tech support, and they stated that the soft strap was compatible, and gave me some tips in order to sync it with the watch. After an annoying week of trying with failure, I decided to search the Internet for the original heart rate monitor. I found it on Amazon for a great discount price. I received it in the mail, and it synched right away. Thanks Amazon and keep up the great work.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works with the Forerunner 110, September 14, 2010
By Yi-Ching Hsieh (Portland, OR United States)
I purchased this to work with my newly bought Forerunner 110 because it was cheaper to buy it separately rather than in the bundle. Works very well as advertised. No obvious signal losses even on a three hour hike. Some people have suggested upgrading to the more expensive heart rate monitor because of comfort issues but I personally have no problem with this one. Yes, it's hard plastic and you will know you are wearing it, but I did not find it at all uncomfortable.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Garmin heart rate monitor strap (replacement), May 12, 2010
By S. Wapner (Maui, HI)
This strap was purchased for the forerunner 305. I use it in outrigger canoe racing, it gets wet. The first one lasted a little over one year. I replaced the battery but it still didn't work. I have and would recommend upgrading to the 310XT if you are going to be in wet locations as it is waterproof. The strap on the 310XT snaps to the monitor in two locations and can come off if your chest rubs against something; I have already lost one.

It was simple to set up with my Forerunner 305, the watch finds it quickly every time I go out for a run, and it provides more interesting data on the Garmin Connect site. If you're a fan of running data, I highly recommend the product. I just need to start running more again to make it truly worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  good product, June 12, 2011

Use this with my FR60 and Edge 800. Works great, but I did find that if you do not wet the electrodes it will not read right away. Takes minute for some sweat to make good contact. If it did not have to have the electrodes wetted every time then it would of gotten 5 stars.

Works great - replacement for Forerunner 305 HR monitor. Did not detect automatically, just go to settings --> general --> accessories and it will scan for your heart rate monitor. Great product!

I bought this item as a replacement.....I thought that I lost my original monitor, but later found it in my truck after I purchased this replacement.
